TGIF for all you non weekend workers LOL... I however am working ...
So fell off the wagon big time and let me emotions get the best of me and ate my way thru the house the last day and a half...Cheryl thanks for pulling me back over the edge.... Back on track today day 1. I hate that I have let the stress of life turn me back to food, but I am so glad I have a program that can easily get me back on track!
Cheryl -I know you have mentioned the pancakes before, and the peanut butter sounds delightful...can you share what you do to make them?
Off to work today. Busy week next week so I need to do some food prep this weekend so I don't fall off. Bought 2 big cauliflower at Trader Joes yesterday so I plan on roasting that off with some broccoli. Salad stuff is prepped and at the ready to grab and I have to make a run to an IP clinic to get some more food. There is one that I can run to on Saturday morning before I meet my clients....
Just updated my stats .... No sense lying to myself LOL.. I will get that number back down under 200 that I fought so hard for last year... This is the year of Me LOL
Day 7 finally!!! So happy to make it through my first week back on track! AND, it wasn't so bad! A headache, some lack of sleep, little bit of hunger but not anything that would derail me. I think that New Year New Start feeling is really helping me get going. Kind of like a blank slate and I can make this year what I want. First week weigh in the morning. Looking forward to this one!
Tanklan - waiting for your WI results with baited breath!!! Week 1 of your reboot -- what will the mystery number be? Tell us!!!
Sue- so glad you getting back on the wagon - I am at Day 5 of my reboot and per my Aria scale I am down 6.8 lbs - that is almost a lb more than I lost the first week of my original P1 on IP! I am encouraged, and as you shed some excess the first week, I know you will be encouraged too. And you have been SO good about hanging in here with the 2014 Starter thread - we have all done such a good job supporting one another, and I am counting on us to continue to do that.
You and I are in the throes of emotional stress - big time - - the caregiving role has its moments of thanklessness, and it is excrutiatingly demanding of our psyche as well as our energy and attention. But all that stress that does not make us unworthy of realizing our weight management goals and feeling good about ourselves. There is a lot going on that we cannot control, but this is an area that we CAN control.
Cheryl -I know you have mentioned the pancakes before, and the peanut butter sounds delightful...can you share what you do to make them?
I have made pancakes, muffins, cookies, waffles out of the same recipe.... using either IP packets or alternate packets (e.g., Nashua Nutrition) or Quest protein powder.
One packet (or one serving of protein powder - e.g, Quest is one scoop,
Proti Thin Instant Oatmeal is a scoop and a half)
1/2 Tsp baking powder
any spices (cinnamon for sweet items, onion/garlic powder for savory)
in a separate bowl I wisk:
One egg white - to this I add any pertinent extract (vanilla for pancakes or sweet muffins), and if I want to include shredded zuke or cauli rice, I add that to the wet ingredients.
Add the wet to the dry, stir and add the amount of water needed to get to the consistency of the item - more water to make it more thin for pancakes, less for muffins
I spray muffin tins with PAM, I use spray coconut oil for pancakes or on waffle iron. Bake at 350 for 15 mins.... I touch them to see if they seem firm, and if still a bit jiggly I give them 3-5 more minutes.
Lately I have been multiplying this by 4 and making muffins mostly - 3 muffins to a serving - so the quadruple gives me a total of 12 and that carries me through 4 meals (mostly lunches with the muffins).
I also am using the Nashua Nutrition Golden Pancakes packets for pancakes - adding shredded zuke or cauli rice quite often.
WF pancake syrup of course.
And - do a search and you will find a thread just on cauliflower pancakes done just with cauli rice and egg whites -- a great fill in, extra protein item in lieu of an extra packet... good item to have in back of mind at a tough time....
One way yo go on your first week of reboot. Wow! When you use spices are they fresh ground...or the powders?
Tanklan yeah week one done and OP! Bravo!
Sueeve. I follwed you girls for some time when I was just a lurker ( boy I hate that word...makes me sound creepy....lol)
For me it is day day 15 and my official weigh in for our challenge...still having trouble sleeping. Last night I went to be at ten and fell asleep pretty fast...yeah ( really exausting day at work).. Awake at four this morning...boooooo...i have read lots of places that lack of sleep may hinder weight loss...booooo
Glad all are doing well with the re-boot! I made it thru Day 1 and am on to day 2... I did not get all my water in yesterday (very busy day on the road) so today that is my goal. I am down on my scale this morning so that is encouraging....Here we come 190's (again)
Cheryl- Thanks for the pancake info with the powder. I am out of pancake packets and need a run to the IP clinic but that may not happen till next week some time... In the meantime the muffins are a great idea....I used to make the mini muffins all the time with crispy cereal and wild berry drink. You could have 6 per serving! I need to pull out the old IP receipe book I had made and start getting creative again...that really helped me thru the first time...
This weekend after work and before hockey, the family plan in to take down the rest of the Christmas stuff and then work on planning out our summer vacation to Hawaii... We have been waiting so long to plan this and even with DH's health up in the air, we are going to do it. This is the one thing DS wanted for his Graduation. This is in lieu of a party. Althought I have come to find out that my CA side of the family all plan to come for Anthony's graduation so I will have to have some sort of food at the house for them, but there will be no big party.
Sgrealtor1 Hawaii...now that is one motivation for you on your weight loss journey...you will rock those grass skirts (not sure what they are called...)
That water is so important. It must not be easy to be on the road...I would need to stop every 30 minutes to pee...I know I find it very hard when I go out of town and need to drive 4 hours...I need to drink, but don't want to drink since then I need to pee...I never feel great that night nor the next day. Sometimes when I get there I will OD on water but then I need to get up in the middle of the night quite a few times.
Hi Ladies! Sorry I have been so absentee. I read daily but posting has been a challenge for me. End and the beginning of the year are crazy times for me at work. By the time I get home, my brain is mush.
Sue and One- thinking of you and your DHs. So hard to watch people we love going through tough times. Maybe IP can be one of those things you can look at as trying to simplify your life during stressful times. I hope you both continue to receive positive health news for your guys.
Glad to see the boards more active and so many familiar names! My IP coach posted an article listing the top 25 diets for 2015. IP was #1 on the list. Funny, because most people I know IRL still haven't heard of it.
My sister started IP a couple weeks ago so we've spent a lot of time texting. I recommended she start posting here. We'll see. She's got 2 little ones at home and not a lot of extra time.
I started my reboot 1/2/16 and am down to less than a pound over my scream weight but I think I am going to stay on P1 for the month of January to really clean up my diet and try and improve not just my weight but BF% and lbs of fat. You may remember me obsessing about those previously (apparently nothing has changed here ). Plus I just feel like my meal planning was just getting sloppy. Too many little cheats here and there make me nervous for my long term success.
Being in P1 means I can't workout much more than walking. This will be toughest part of rebooting for me. I am usually at the gym a good 4 days a week. My level of fitness from 6 months ago is significant. It literally killed me to tell my trainer I wouldn't be back until Feb. Geez, when did I actually start liking going to the gym?!?
My NY resolutions for the first time in my life doesn't include losing weight (other than to get back to goal from the holidays). That is pretty monumental. Feeling like I can accomplish anything gave me some pause as to what I really wanted to focus on this year. Physically I am still trying to define my goals. Last year was a general "get in better shape and tone up." I feel like I need to be more specific this year. I also decided "fixing broken body parts" should be on the list. I have a planned outpatient surgery to remove a ganglion cyst off the back of my hand in a couple weeks and I made an appnt to finally get my hip checked out that has been bothering me for years (but gotten worse with me working out recently).
CenTxChk - thanks so much for posting here and for your comments on my MFP - I miss your eating mgmt observations from our prior journeys - you are always so willing to share.
Thanks for the kind thoughts re the DH - this is a tough time right now - I have not been dancing since October, and that's particularly bad because dancing is my primary way to relieve stress. A few minutes of swing or chacha and the worries of the day are gone.... maybe I need to just turn on some music and dance alone at home....
Meanwhile - I am working on busted body parts - I have a pinched nerve that is like sciatica that affects my left leg from buttocks all the way to the ankle, plus I injured that left need when I fell on wet floor at grocery in August, and then I also am getting PT to resolve post op stiffness, soreness, and narrow range of motion since my carpal tunnel surgery in early December. So I am working with the PT and massage therapist on all that stuff, hoping to get all parts in good working order, and at the same time lining up for strength training that I hope will reduce my body fat percentage. At my lowest weight of 156 in July 2015, my fat percent was still 37.... right now it is just over 46 percent. I am a flabby hunk of flesh it seems, and I have not felt or engaged my glutes to do their full job in years. Sitting is a demon -- I need to move and strengthen to offset the effects of decades of a sitting job... sitting has contributed big time to the sciatic pain. My PT says avoid sitting as much as possible...
hard to post on 3FC as I like to without sitting, though.... what a trade off!!!
Let us know how your work on your goals is going - I'm with ya on those goals, plus offloading the regain and then phasing off as I should.
Loser - Yes very hard to drink and be on the road for hours.. I am a realtor that keeps me in the car a lot. . But I made it thru yesterday had the bulk of the afternoon home to have my water...
CenTex - So good to see you! I have missed you and your journey...glad you are back to basics for January.... So hard to maintain during the holidays. I did so good last year and so poorly this year LOL...
Cheryl - Sorry about the pain! I had that when I was preggers with DS and It was not fun... I worked in a office and had my keyboard up on the cubical wall so that I could stand and type. LOL.
Today I have work at 3pm so all morning to get my water in... House full of Redskin Fans this afternoon so the game will be on and Dinner will be 1/2 time. Need to figure something quick and easy that I can plan to the minute LOL.. If it stops pouring, maybe I will grill up some burgers.
I am so thrilled that my reboot in IP is resulting in a steady downward slope - I actually had my starter weigh in for reboot last Sunday using my Aria and this morning I am down 8.9 lbs!
Part of the verbiage in my head that interfered with getting started on my reboot was this fear that I would not really lose as well as I did on my original IP P1 -- and instead of a slow start, I am having a KICK start - my loss so far is almost 3 lbs more than my 1st week loss the first time. Starting in the 190's and already I am looking for when the 170's will show up.
I think that re-embracing the drink mixes -- Choc drink, Vanilla, Capucchino, Wildberry Yogurt -- I had various boxes of these left since my last trip to my now closed clinic -- I think doing these instead of the oatmeal and the IP pancakes is a really smart move that is maximizing losses. I am mixing those flavors with the Multi Purpose Quest Protein Powder to make the muffins, and those muffins work great for breakfast or for lunch.
I am fearful of using too many quest bars since the reformulation, but I am using a few - I had 2 or 3 this week, I think. I have not found and acquired other usable ones yet, and I have only a couple of IP brownies left in my supply. I will find some alternative though - someone posted Un Cow by D's Naturals, I think, that have good IP compliant numbers - have no clue how they taste. But having some bars to include for grab and go situations is really helpful. I have used the Quest chips for those situations, too.
I cannot say how relieved I am to be back on track -- thanks for all the support here on 3FC!!!!

Have a great week!
Oh yes - there are a few of us IPeeps from 3FC who are 'friends' on MFP -- PM me with your screen name for MFP and I'll add you as a friend.
Some of us have the same screen name for both 3FC and MFP, like me, CenTxChk, Canadjineh, JJTx... and some have similar photographs for their avatar.
I think we try to support one another there too - and I think anyone who is on maintenance will tell you that the tracking on a log - either in their Fitbit, Sparkpeople, MFP or some other food diary that gives you the nutrient breakout, really finds it helpful.
And, after a month or so, I think my usual foods were readily available to log quickly - I don't mind the logging much these days. Maybe you will find it gets better, too.
Since I fell off the IP wagon this week my loss is not fantastic...so this will be my reboot week one. I did manage to lose a pound, but I also shot up over that weight so I am going to leave it till next week when I have a full week under my belt.
I slept horrible last night so today is going to be a very long day LOL...
