Hi trying59! The start of the thread is a year old but if you go to the most recent pages you will see people who have been posting in the past few weeks, lol. The threads aren't supposed to get longer than 500 posts before a new one has started but some have been carried on for quite a while if posting is less frequent. Right now this one is at 480ish so it will soon be time for another continuation thread. You will find more information easier if you are looking at the full site (as on a desktop) rather than the mobile optimized site. Welcome to the IP club .
So happy today- lost 2.8 pounds this week and had the NSV of a total of 13 inches lost since I began on June 16!! 4.5 inches from my waist! BMI is down 3.3 points, and visceral fat is down 1 point, YAY!
I am now just setting mini-goals of 5 pounds at a time, making it less overwhelming.
Good luck to all,
Lisa
Hey everyone , new here also . 4 days into week 4 , 30 lbs gone))) amazing program !!! Just a question.. Tonight I poured a glass of water for myself and a glass of milk for my son and accidentally took a sip of milk instead .. Should I be freaking out ?? Would that throw me out of ketosis I am worried 😣😣
Hey everyone, I haven't even joined yet, doing it on September 5th. Pretty excited about it. I've go so many questions, but only one for now. My Doctor tells me that at 5'4" Male 54 years old, I should weight about 150. I now weigh 242. Is it reasonable to set my goal at 92 pounds? Can I change that while on the diet or protocol, I've seen it referred to by both in my research. My wife is also joining she has much, much less to lose than me.
I wouldn't worry about the sip of milk. Generally speaking, it will take more than that to compromise your Ketosis. Additionally, milk would be considered a fat which at worst would just slow your losses slightly when incorporating normal servings of it regularly. A lot of us, including myself, began incorporating more fat into the diet towards goal because it simply felt like we needed it. You'll notice too that IP has also increased the fat in some of their new products. Just keep at it, you're doing great!
Maurrich - You're goal weight doesn't have to be set In stone, more just like a guideline initially. Many IPer's have adjusted their goal weight as they got closer, judging by how they feel etc whether it be to increase or decrease it. You'll have a better idea when you're closer, and believe me it goes by very fast!

Thank you, being so new, I was not sure how it works. I can't wait to get started. Maybe I should set a higher goal initially and then if it goes well, I can adjust. I once dreamed of getting below 200 but now, reading posts on here, I think that should be completely doable in under a year.
Hello everyone. Congratulations to you for your success. I started IP May 2012. I lost the 20 lbs. I needed to lose and felt great. I have gained it all back. I have started over three times since Jan. 2016. No success at all. I can't figure out why I can not stick to the protocol. Now I can no longer afford their products and I am looking for alternate methods in hopes of losing like I did the first go round.
Has anyone had success using alternative products?

Also there is a facebook group called Ideal Protein Alternatives -- https://www.facebook.com/groups/811159348959492/
They have posted some guidelines on product choices that are valid subs for IP foods (and definitely less expensive).
There are lots of online sources where you can order foods, and if you sign up on their sites you will get promotions and sales anouncements.
Hope this is helpful - come back to 3FC if you have questions and to find support.
I previously did IP in 2014 with success but I didn't phase off properly and now am at my highest weight. I am in my 1st week of IP again and doing pretty good. Looking forward to getting to goal!
WTG gals! Alternatives work fine, DorrieB and of course you are still welcome to post here (we are definitely not IP ****s and we all do what it takes). Welcome back dowey16 - you got it this time.... and you know that the phase off is the most important part, right?

ps: 3FC wouldn't let me use the term N@zis, I obviously didn't mean it in a white supremacist way.
