Here on Cape Cod, I'm not charged for my visits. Granted I am only in phase 1, and with the exception of one week, when a friend gave me all of her stuff, I have bought something every week. (And we know how expensive that is)

Mimi:
If you're being charged, you need to contact Ideal Protein corporate.

The clinics are supposed to get paid through the sale of the products.
I had a start-up fee but then all of the weekly visits were free, other than product purchase.

Is that in lieu of a start up fee or in addition to it? I could understand being charged per visit if there wasn't a huge initial consultation fee, otherwise it's just daylight robbery.

I believe, however, clinics now WILL charge for Maintenance visits with the new approach since the client will not be purchasing IP foods (though will of course be encouraged to use the Complete IP shakes.)

Sorry that took a while -- I wanted to dig out my original invoice to make sure I was right before I got really annoyed.... I was charged a $250 initial appointment fee, plus a $30 set-up fee, plus the cost of my food and vitamins. And I have been charged $20 for every appointment/WI since then (though, TBH, I do need to double-check whether they are still charging me now in maintenance -- will get back to you once I see if they're automatically charging my credit card). Can't believe no one else is charged for those appointments!! Think it's because my coach is a nutritionist in a doctor's office?

Majority of people I have read posting about this (and I have read a thread with over 50 posts on the subject on another site) do NOT pay per appointment.Start up fees vary widely but the food purchases each week are supposed to include your coaching and it does not seem that should be related to where you are getting them.

Do you get weekly scans for lean body mass and hydration? Some clinics do charge extra ($5-10 from what I have seen) for these, though I do not think they are mandatory weekly and you should have been be told.

I suggest you contact corporate to find out if there is an actual policy about paying for appointments.

Thank you for the info, Laurie. Yes, I get the full body composition analysis done each time I go (every 2 weeks). Was planning to have my next appt be my last for a while anyway (despite the new maintenance plan recs), though I will clarify the policy with my coach. I have become a little addicted to tracking all those numbers at each WI though, so maybe I'll have to invest in a fancier home scale.

Just posted this on a similar thread but will copy here in case you are not following the other thread:

I don't pay per time, just for products, and can access my coach anytime by text, phone or email. The clinic is in a doctor's office (D.O.) and I went once a week during P1 and was both weighed and measured every time I came. Whenever I needed or requested a blood test I was given one (that I either paid for or put through insurance). I was permitted to come more often if I wanted but I didn't need to.
Now in maintenance everything is also free except product.
They make it very clear that they are there to help me succeed, not make money, and the service offered is paid for through the product.

They did not do much body analysis there but what they did was included. I was fine with that, I had a sense through my other activities how I was doing with lean mass etc. and didn't feel I needed any more info.

There was a $79 start up fee but it was waived because I saw the doctor the same day, and my clinic is in a doctor’s office.

Ro22, I have been off the threads for a few days but got your PM and will ask my clinic.

My start up fee covered the first 12 coaching appts. After that you needed to buy another 12. I decided to weigh in every two weeks, so luckily I made goal within my original 12 appts. I did buy a maintenance package of 8 sessions for $99.00. My clinic has since changed to free monthly maintenance check ins, if you graduated and reached goal. No offer to reimburse me for my maintenance package though!

I had a quick look at the "new" program aowhich pretty much consisted of the blue glossy book. Did not look very helpful and I would have wanted more menus ideas. I mentioned to my coach about how knowledgable the maintainers form is which has been a huge support to me.

My coach is great for WI ins and very supportive. I see her weeky in maintainence and only have pd for cost of food. I probably spend 100 a month on food and then buy for my folks from her.

I have a question and can't seem to find an appropriate forum to ask it... My coach is on vacation so I don't want to bother her... I am suppose to start the Phase 1 Alternative program tomorrow. I was wondering if the weights for the Group 1 items are pre-cooked or cooked for the pasta/brown rice?

I was charged an initial fee ($300 or $350) but haven't paid for anything since during all phases other then the food. I was weighed and measured at each WI.
