Hi Lisa, a stretch that always works for me when I have a bad pain horizontally across the outside of my hip is the figure 4 stretch. You can do it sitting in a chair or lying on your back. It's a piriformis stretch and is quite often tight even if we normally stretch our hamstrings. Maybe this isn't your issue though?? Good luck!
Thanks
I'm back in PT and was specifically told that stretch isn't good for my problem. We're doing different piriformus stretches.
The PT also discovered that hamstring stretches are making the problem worse right now ( I was doing lots of them). We're currently strengthening hamstrings and stretching hip flexors and piriformus but not hamstrings . He actually thinks this is a many faceted problem so attacking it in baby steps.
I had a long road trip day yesterday and also sat at a cold, wet football game. I'm pretty sore today from sitting and from not getting in all my PT homework
Ahhh, yes, Lisa... long but weaker hams, coupled with strong but short quads-hip flexors = trouble alright.... Good you got it figured out! Now to work slowly through it, lol. That's the tough part!
Liana
Hi ladies havent posted in a while lost 1 lb in almost 3 weeks, must really be at a hard plateau but not giving up going to change my food and workouts and see if that helps
Lisa; you are such a inspiration for us all!!!!!!! Take care of you pain, hope the Dr. helps.
While we are on the subject of pain....recently I've been suffering from leg and hand cramps.....don't know if it's the blood pressure meds or the diet. I have up'd my magnesium, and make sure I take 1gram of potassium a day. Anyone else dealing with this issue?
I see this thread has been dormant for a while, but I have seen several of the original group that was around when we started this thread in 2012 hanging out here on the IP forum lately, so I went and dug it up.
Rainbow, Halfagain, others??? Any takers?
Sometimes it nice to be with others who share the same challenges that come with being 50+...
Great to see you mars and westwillow! I am excited to connect with others in this group! And, of course, it's always good to see you, Rainbow!
I noticed that over the last 6 months as I really strayed far from my maintenance plan, my night sweats returned with a vengeance... now 6 days in, they are all but gone. I guess I forgot that was one of the benefits of low carb. Also, my skin is looking much better. Loving this!
Did my first weigh in of my reboot - 6 days and 6.8 pounds. I really didn't expect that, so I'm happy!
Thinking about a veggie omelet for breakfast, but I need to find that formula for egg substitution for a packet. Off to search...

I get calf cramps really badly if my sodium is too low. Taking all the requisite cal-mag and potassium never seems to fix it for me, so I just add extra salt.
Lizzy - we must be on a similar wavelength. I also did a veggie omelet today. Used 1 whole egg + 4 whites, then added in veggies. I'm in Maintenance, but have lowered my daily calories to knock off some December pounds.
Did you love yours?? I did!
Congrats on your losses!
