It happens to all of us. No rhyme or reason, but lots of potential causes. Ride out the upticks, because you'll be on the downward rollercoaster soon enough!

As Liana says, its quite normal to have some upticks, because what actually counts is the downward trend. You have made it right to brink with only this one WI uptick - not to worry -- just keep doing what got you this far and you'll make it over the goal line, no sweat!!!
Yep yep, we got past those upticks just fine. When you think how far we've come it's pretty amazing that we didn't have more of them.

With most of the journey behind me, and only 30 or so lbs (if it's possible with this frame) ahead I'm starting to feel some diet fatigue. I think it's mainly boredom with the same old same old every couple of days. With the running occupying 3 days of the week I decided to reintroduce some healthier fats/complex carbs to help keep me on track. Variable results though - scale is bouncing up and down the same 2 lbs but I can see where it is so it's not worrying me.

We just have to concentrate on building the good habits; trying not to be scared of reintroducing foods and the resultant rebuilding of the glycogen stores (and associated water that goes with the initial refill) and focus on making good choices most of the time. Don't know about you, but I know there will some treats in my future. Life is too short to live in a diet state forever, but having learned some coping mechanisms like having alternative treats available and restricting how much the package size is ... I'm hoping I can maintain within a 5lb either side. I love the term "scream" weight ... it has a future with my scales.

Been suspiciously quiet in August thread, so many of us hopped in the July one. Glad to see you back with us 2b.

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement! These last few pounds are taking some serious dedication. I was wondering where everyone went! I'll have to head over to the July board to keep up. I tend to to be a bit of lurker, but reading everyone's posts is really motivational for me. So here is a sincere thank you to everyone on here!

Hello August Starters!
I'm glad to see how everyone continues to lose weight and get closer to their goal!

Iron Woman- congratulations on reaching goal and moving on to the other phases, that must feel great!

Briael- I'm the opposite, I actually love what I eat and I'm very comfortable eating almost the same everyday, I do vary it of course, but not as much, and I really haven't gotten bored, and I'm very happy about that!

I'm still following the diet to the T and Today I've finally reached 165 lbs
But I want to continue losing- I would like to reach 100lbs! I am 7 lbs away from getting there. I also want to be ble to wear a size 4 right now I can fit in a size 6 :wow: never before I had worn a size 6- the smallest I ever was, was a size 8- and I weighted less!- we definitely shrink with this diet!
I have been very occupied with work, school, extra curricular activities and my social life that I don't have much time to post because I start typing and I keep on going and going... I just can't stop!

I do read the posts because I want to know how everyone is doing!
I'm glad some of us have reached goal, have move on to other phases and some are in maintenance!

Yay! Here we go, next month will be our 7th month!!! Can you beliee that?! Hopefully I can get to the 100lbs lost next month- right now I'm going for the 158lbs and if I'm not a size 4 by then, I'll set another goal for myself.... Thank you everyone for all your encouragement and all your help in this journey, it has been much easier having you by my side!

It's interesting to me how all the "August People" that stuck with it are down 70 to 80 pounds or so. I am also in that category (though I started 1 day after Aug 31). Great Job Everyone!! Keep it up!

Hi august starters and Avalon - I also started in early September but we never had our own thread! I am still with the diet, went thru some diet fatigue over the holidays, then had some issues with dizziness, but pushed thru all of that. Now I'm in the home stretch to my original goal and even contemplating changing my goal because it puts me at the top end of the normal range (but a good BMI). Now I'm thinking what I could realistically maintain and trying to figure out how I will maintain. I've actually added back in some cheats (sanctioned by my coach) which includes wine. It has helped me stay on program because the hardest thing for me was the social side of things. Explaining to people why I couldn't have xyz. It's nice to have this group and to see your progress plotted out. Mine wasn't so linear but I made it downward with all of you!

Any pound lost is a good pound lost Shasta! It's all positive. Keep it up. You are only 5 pounds from your goal. I only wish I was that close!

You are doing great 2bskinnyagain!

And our gang in the July Starters thread wants to join up with June Aug and September to be the Summer 2014 Starters - we are so proud of what everyone has accomplished and we are looking forward to sharing our maintenance journeys together.

We'll start the new thread soon - maybe tomorrow, March 1 is a good starting date. Do you think you August and September starters would like to join us?

Absolutely! Thanks for including us. I would definitely like to be a part. We've gotten a little quiet here. I can tell by reading your July posts that you are all in a very similar place to where we are, so it seems natural to join together.

I think combining would be good because I'd like a mix of recent maintainers and those preparing like myself. Reading many of the posts, I think we all have same challenge to determine exactly what our goal weight should be and adjusting as we approach. In my case, I think I may have been overly ambitious and am thinking I may have reached mine vs trying 20 more pounds or it is possible I need to change what I am doing to proceed because of continuous headache, light-headedness and low energy and continuing to be told by my coach that I cannot workout, which isn't allowing me to achieve my other goals: 1) being healthy 2) having the energy to do the activities I enjoy (as much as I want) and 3) having the strength to do them the best I am capable of. None of these are true for me right now even though I continue to lose so I am complementing this diet with some medical/fitness and metabolic testing and hoping I can find guidance from that data and anybody else going through this too.

I'd love a Summer 2014 Starters thread. I went in and lurked a bit in the July Starters thread and noticed a few others posting about some of the things I'd been experiencing so it would be great to unite!

Please wish me some luck I have my WI tomorrow and am really hoping to see some movement. If there isn't, I may begin phase 2. Not sure yet...
