I've been great about not cheating. One thing I've noticed is how much I previously ate without thinking. When prepping some berries for my kids, I popped a blueberry in my mouth. When I realized it, I spit it out (go me!) but I realized that I must do this all the time -- and not always with something as harmless as a blueberry.
Great job on your first week! I hear ya on the mindless snacking. Usually when I'm cooking, I fall victim. I only eat sitting down now, that really helps. That way, I sit down with my plate, eat, and I'm done!
Hi everyone! Day one of re-boot. I was able to lose about 100 lbs doing IP then switching to low-carb, but due to travel for work and a recent move, I've gained over 20 lbs in the past 6 months! Here's hoping I can stick to it to reach my original goal of 140 lbs in the near future. I know to do that, I NEED to log on here every day for accountability, since I'm doing alternatives and don't have a coach.
I love the NSVs... Allend, that's so funny!! And schenectady, that's amazing!! It always made me feel great when people I hadn't seen in awhile were blown away by my progress.
You go girl! Getting started is half the battle, imho, and that good feeling of being on track will offset hard part.
Here's a twist, too, both amusing and gratifying: some people I haven't seen for awhile simply do not recognize me. At first I thought maybe I had offended them & they were ignoring me, but turns out they just didn't know it was me.

Love that idea! I think I've just instituted a new rule for myself. Thanks!
I'm loving the baggy pants stories. My sister forced me to clean out my closet this weekend and get rid of all the baggy pants. So I've do e some shopping in the pat week or (sale season!) and tried to get some basics in a new size. I'm also thinking over my goal weight since I have lost almost 40 lbs and only went dpwn one size. Or maybe a size and a half since many of my clothes were uncomfortably tight before I started IP. For my height the upper end of the wright charts usually show about 165 - 167. I can't remember when I weighed that little .....maybe college (but of course I still felt fat). I do remember weighing 180 (my goal weight) and feeling fab.
Today's challenge for me is cross country travel. I'm flying to LA which ends up being an all day affair. I remember I did this same trip about 8 weeks ago when I had first started IP and had been following the diet for about a week. I was SO nervous about traveling all day. And a five hour flight with time zone changes that would put me eating dinner very late. But this time I'm not nervous at all. Have several packets with me (I'm actually in the air right now) and have a plan for getting my veggies in. I'm cool!
Great Job! You should think about editing your tracker stats to reflect ALL the weight you have lost...this journey is not only an IP journey. It is your story and the entire journey is worthy of credit!! Just put an initial weight and adjust your total loss! AMAZING..BRAVO!!
The initial weight you lost may have been the reason you felt you had a slow start...You were WELL on your way to losing the hard stuff when you started IP!!
I decided to edit my tracker as you suggest because I lost weight before I started IP. IP just accelerated it.
Well today is day one of my reboot. Got my first green monster shake down and am ready to get through the next 4 days. Life is looking pretty good so far. I know what to expect and have all my tools ready for it. Have a great day everyone from windy Seattle.
Good morning all!
I am happy to report a whopping -10 after week 1. This is definitely motivating. I had a tough time with my spinach last night. My husband and I are both on IP, and we bought a bag of spinach from Costco, and goodness theres just soooo much. We had it several times last week! I don't want it to go bad, so I have a few more days of spinach, but the 10 helps! That put me back into ONEderland! WOOOOHOOOO!!

Blending it in the shakes helps it move quicker I also add to romaine salads for a pic of different favor.

First, congratulations on a great week one! Nice incentive to push hard,
Second, when I end up with a bit more spinach or greens and I worry that they may go bad, I quick throw them in a pan with a bit of chicken stock. I steam it until soft, then run it through the blender until thick and smooth. I keep it in the fridge and either heat it up to make soup with some seasoning or use the "slurry" in my morning protein shakes.
I'm really new on here and only 6 weeks into the IP diet - I want to thank you for posting your weekly weight loss it is really encouraging to see how it comes off for other people - hopefully I can follow in your footsteps!
My first stunning NSV yesterday evening. I was out of veggies so I ran to the store. While there, I saw a lady who daughter went to school with our children whom we have known for years. Her aged mother was visiting from Croatia. She and her husband had done some yard and house projects for us over the years.
When I spotted them, I called out to the lady, but she looked puzzled. Not sure of what was going on, I approached her and identified myself to her.
What a double take -she looked at me and said "I could not even recognize you. You aren't the same person!" Her mother quickly asked in her own language who it was and then made hand movements to suggest my body was much smaller, smiling the whole time.
Knowing that these two are very sincere and genuine people, I knew they were not just being nice - they really were shocked.
Now some of probably wondering how this might happen after only 50 pounds, but before, I had been 26 pounds above my starting IP weight. Made my day!
It is so nice when people are genuinely happy for you....great job have a great OP IP day
Happy Monday everyone : ) I am new to the forums and to IP! Today is my 5th day. I wanted to share a NSV. Yesterday I wenr shopping out of town with my daughter and planned to be home for lunch. We got stuck thou and didn't return till 3pm. My daughter was starving by 1 pm. So I. Stopped and got her fast food. Even with the smell and how good I knew it would taste... I didn't really want it. Not even a fry! I know I hit ketosis, but I didn't think it would be that easy to say not and not even cheat a tiny bit! Super proud of myself! Can't wait to weigh in Wed. to see what the scale says! Thanks for all the support in this forum! It is you all that I draw strength from! <3 Jen

Are you cooking it? Saute with a bit of salt or garlic powder for flavour and the two cups cooks down to nothing. Three bites and it's done.
