Thanks so much for the advice and I am truly going to take your suggestions and do this stuff to keep my mother in the loop. I feel this website has helped me so much and it keeps me from letting my emotions take over and deal with things the right way.

Thanks again

jendilly thanks also for your comments I will definately look into reading those books.
I have always been the one that will react and I'm trying to teach myself that no one can make me react unhealthy to situations anymore. I'm in control no one else is.

Today has been pretty good for me despite more donuts and peanut candy being brought to work. It was easier to say no today than it was yesterday. I'm a little worried b/c I have a baby shower to attend tomorrow and baby showers are notoriously the land of candy, cake and all things sugary.

I'm going to try to eat my main meal of the day before I go, maybe bring a protein bar with me and then and have some pudding as a treat when I get home!

So, not a great start to the weekend, and/or new year... Took my car in to get it looked at and an oil change, and they told me that they wouldnt do the oil change due to something with my cylinders or gaskets or sometime failing, and that pretty much i should either sell it, or get it fixed ($800 or more), or it wont last long... So no oil change, and bad news on my car... My only means of transportation, and i'm suppose to drive back to school tomorrow to beat out the next snowstorm heading this way... OH and I am in the process of searching for a new laptop because my last one that I bought 3 years ago just died, and I need one to last me the rest of the semester...

AND I'm starving... because I was out all day trying to get my car looked at, and just got home, so I am making some chicken and some frozen veggies... Hopefully my mood will improve

I'm feeling the post-carb addict euphoria, so I was assuming I was in ketosis. Do you think the fact they sat on my porch in 10 degree weather all day might have affected them? Or maybe the massive amounts of water I'm drinking is making it hard for the sticks to pick up the ketones? Either way, I'm not discouraged...I know this plan works for me and I feel good. I guess I'm just curious what your experiences have been with them.
IP is designed to get your body to a very low ketosis. If you're drinking a lot of water as you should, it can cleanse the excess ketones from your body. You don't want excess ketones in your bloodstream. As for determining whether you're in ketosis, even on Atkins diet which is lower carb than IP, the body is not in Ketosis 100% of the day. There's no need to use test strips if you follow IP as planned. But, if you're curious just make sure you test first thing in the morning.

Also, I lose better without restricted and seem to need lower carb than average. You may try omitting restricted products for 3 days only have regular IP and see if it makes a difference. Bottom line is follow plan and don't worry, it works!

I just helped my daughter find a laptop. I really like the ASUS brand. A local computer repair shop here swears they have the least repairs with ASUS.

Celebrating my birthday on Sunday (so this is a weekend of ME) My husband has arranged for Nanny to look after the twins tomorrow and is taking me shopping for some smaller tops, and a new bathing suit for our trip at the end of January. It is nice to be spoiled and loved. I plan to eat appropriately at Applebee's, will make me feel better about myself in the end (I mean being in control of my decisions and emotions.) Happy Weekend fellow IPer's!

Sorry to hear the troubles Deana. Did you get a 2nd opinion on car? You might get a better price or another option that way. Also, look on CL for a used computer could get a good deal there as PC s are not very expensive these days. How did it go with ordering the bridesmaid dress?

I tried to take the car to my dad's mechanic, but he couldnt look at it until monday, and I'm going back to school tomorrow, but I'm leaving my car here for my dad to take a look (since I have to be back in a week and a half for the wedding)
I found a computer on CL that I am going to look at tomorrow, hopefully that works out.
The Bridesmaid dress is here, and fits nicely (my chest has shrunk, and I've lost some inches, but I think it will need minimal work if any) I will post a photo once we do the final fitting

Thanks for the support!

I've been on IP for 8 days now. Tomorrow, my daughter and I are going out to lunch with some friends. I am SUPER nervous about staying on plan, but know I can do it. The girls originally suggested sushi, but I gave them 4 or 5 other ideas where I knew I could eat. I've looked at the menu online. It's a seafood restaurant (Anthony's...one of my favorites) so I think I'll be safe. I'll stick to some fresh fish, ask them to cook it clean with no butter, and then order veggies with no butter. I'm going to bring a packet of WF dressing in case I end up with a salad.
