I do not think the ingredints are healthy. I was a MIO junkie, I loved to use the orange with my sodastream, it made the best orange soda. But then I read an article about sucralose and the dangers of it and have quit using the MIO altogether. I must have thrown away over 15 bottles of it! I know many of the IP products contain sucralose and that the diet is not a permanent source of food. However, I didn't want to develop a reliance on a product that in the long run I do not believe is good for me so I quit it cold turkey.

I think I may have found a reason for that long slow weight loss period. I was talking to my coach about being frustrated etc and having cravings that I didnt have for the first 6 months and how my weight loss went from 3 pounds a week to 3 pounds in one month. We went thru my food journals and the only thing I did different was I started using Mio.

I thought it was okay to use as it was zero calories, zero carbs. But it seems that any artifical sweetner (this has splenda) actually creates twice the amount of insulin in your body as regular sugar and consequently your body will store fat because of the glucose it has to produce to offset the insulin. It will also create carb cravings and that need to eat, even though you aren't hungry. Which is exactly what I have been dealing with for about 6 weeks.

So, I stopped using it as of yesterday and I will see if the weight starts to come off again.

WorldTraveler,

Thanks for letting me know that! That will keep me on the straight and narrow while waiting. It was driving me crazy with the cravings and all that.

I will let you know what happens in a few days. Fingers crossed!

I am going off too, I have really liked the flavors and helps to get so much water down. Besides lemon, any other suggestions for water enhancements that are good?

Can we use as much fresh squeezed lemon as we want in our water?? or is there a limit on P1?

A friend gave me this recipe

IP ginger water.
Boil 1.5 gal of water, add 6-8 oz sliced fresh ginger and 1-2 sticks of cinnamon (optional), simmer 45-1 hr. let cool and store in fridge w ginger n cinnamon in pitcher. Reuse ginger til it looses it's flavor. I use only once. I like it strong. Sweeten with stevia to taste (or try it unsweetened!). Tasty n thermogenic.

Cucumber water would work too.

As I mentioned in my previous post I was a Mio junkie. It has been about 10 days now since I threw away all my Mio and I have noticed that the ache in my knees has gone away. One of the bad effects of sucrlaose that I read about was related to joint pain and I am now a believer.

I have been off since Tuesday morning and I feel like I am going through week 1 all over again! That vicious headache for 2days, the stomach upset. Very interesting. But... In three days "clean" and they are the 3 days before TOM showed up, I haven't had any cravings and have had no problem sticking on plan. Just hungry, but am drinking more plain water.

I verified - we can have lemon juice, but limit yourself to 1/2 lemon a day. Same with limes. I have been slicing up a cucumber and putting it in my water. That makes a nice refreshing, clean taste.

I can't wait to get back into ketosis again and start losing again!

Current Weight: 188

Okay, you've convinced me. I'm not tossing mine out but when it's gone, it's gone (I just stocked up so it'll be a while). In the meantime, I'm cutting back.

Besides my other suggestions, a little Braggs ACV actually brightens up the water & is supposed to be good for your gut!

I, unfortunately, noticed a significant slow down in weight loss too.

This was over a several week period where the only thing I added was MiO...as soon as I cut it out my losses picked up again.

Thanks for looking up the lemon quota. I was not aware of the limits.

Ginger water sounds very refreshing. I am going to make some soon, thanks :-)
