  • Quote: Can I just say I HATE coffee. Never drank it. Used to get a cup now and then when I was in the Army to keep my hands warm in the field but never imbibed.

This morning I brewed a very strong cup of Starbucks in our K-cup machine and mixed it with the chocolate drink mix. I still hate it but I've been having severe problems with the Big C. I've been drinking Smoothe Move daily. I've taken NoviLax and several other things and nothing is working. I'm talking once a week if I'm lucky.

Desperate times call for desperate measures so it's on to the coffee. I still HATE it.
Dude, that don't sound good at all! When we used to visit my long passed Grannie in England she would force feed us Pomfrey cakes. One of those crazy English things they do but it sure cleans out the system! Lord knows where you'd ever find them. They are like a really thick black licorice.

Someone on another thread recommended rhubarb. Since it counts toward your daily veggie count I'm going to have some of that for supper. My eyes are also turning a tad yellow (my guess is the liver is trying to dump excess cholestoral) so I picked up an OTC liver cleanse. I hate to try the mag cit again so soon but I may have to resort to that again.

Are you taking the IP vitamins? Mag Cit is in the Cal/Mag. It is intended to take daily. If you had a problem with it, back off on how much you use!
    Yellow eyes sounds bad!

Yes I am taking all of the IP vits. I had a similar problem a few years ago with my MS med Rebif. It dropped my chol from 280 down to 125 in about 6 weeks. But I will drop the Cal/Mag for a bit.
  • New to IP
My name is Chris. I just started IP yesterday. My wife told me about this site, so I registered. I have heard a lot of success stories attributed to this diet, so with a new job, I started this adventure. My heaviest I have weighed is 297 a couple years ago. My goal is 210-220. My biggest problem, I love food! I hope I have the strength to soldier through this and change my outlook on nutrition. So, I hope there are some good recipes you guys have found, I am the cook in the house. Any tips and advice will be greatly appreciated. Oh, and how do I get one of those barbell counters?

  • Welcome Chris!

I used to live in Yakima so very familiar with your area.

There are several recipe threads to choose from. Another good thread is: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/idea...ie-purees.html It's a great way to add lots of veggies in a very small area so it doesn't seem like you're just eating 2 more cups of whatever.

You need 20 days on the site and at least 20 posts in order to get a counter. It'll go back quick so make sure you're on here saying hello and letting everyone know how you're doing.

  • Thank you. The veggies is the hard part for me. One can eat only so much plain celery. Went shopping today and bought some cuccumbers, mushrooms and other types of lettuce. Now I know what I can plant in the garden come spring time.

Welcome Chris!!! And welcome to the 220 club...there are a bunch of us high 200s working our way to 220-210! This is THE best diet there is IMO. You gotta give it total commitment but the rewards are huge. My advice is eating the same old veggies every day will drive you nuts so grill 'em up with different seasonings etc. to keep things new. I go through a lot of Asparagus, Mushrooms, Zucchini and Bell Peppers.
  • Quote: Hi guys,

My husband (and I) have finished Ideal Protein and my husband is having a heck of a time staying on track.

Do you guys have any suggestions on snacks that can keep him interested.. He has a sweet tooth and has a hard time making good choices.. I often think his consultant should have better educated the man on Phase 4 and what it really is.

Also did you have to give up alcohol completely? or if not, how do you make it work?

Any advice would be very much appreciated!
    Thank you.. Kelly
One other suggestion if he has a sweet tooth, check out the Atkins Advantage bars. They are really tasty and, although not great protein wise, would be an excellent snack for a Phase 4 guy! They have a Caramel Chocolate Nut Roll that you would swear is an Oh Henry! bar
  • Welcome Chris.
  • Holy Cow, I am gone for a couple of days and there are all sorts of new folks and weight loss and changes going on.

My Mom is here she was really surprised at the weight loss, especially since I had not told her. She will be here till at least tomorrow. She was bragging me up to everyone, she ran into.

WI in today down 3 pounds, which was great after the week I had.

    WELCOME NEWBIES.....

One thing I learned to really like is roasting veggies in the oven. Take cauliflower, brocolli, asparigus, mushrooms or just about anything, lay them out on a cookie sheet, spritz with olive oil, then bake at 350 for about 20 minutes. I'll eat 2 cups of mushrooms for every meal if I have to. I can't stand steamed broc/caul any more but eat it roasted all the time.
  • Thank you everyone. M35, I will try roasting the veggies. I have about 10 pounds of peppers frozen from last summer. Something I forgot to ask, does anyone work rotating shifts on this diet? Have you been successful? I started IP right before going on a weekend of night shifts. I eat lunch at home then swap dinner and snack. Snack at 6pm and dinner at 10pm. Is this ok? I will eat my breakfast at 4am still at work.

Several people have talked about shift work on other threads. The consensus is as long as you get everything in it doesn't matter when you do it during a 24 hour period. You want your meat at breakfast? Go for it! Just make sure you do the 3 packs, 4 cups of veggies, and 8oz of protein at some point in the 24 hour cycle. AND ALL OF YOUR WATER! I personally do about 120oz a day now.

That's great Kit!! Your Mom was must be wondering what happened to 1/6 of her son!! My Mother-In-Law who is a Weight Watcher "lifer" can't believe the effect that IP has had on me.
