I have 9 trays of it in the dehydrator tonight - lol I hope I like it as well as I did the fresh. Not sure why I wouldn't. I checked them and they are all slimy as the fresh were before. The cut pieces are a bit larger than I did the fresh ones, but I don't think that will be a problem. Anyway, felt like a score finding it for 1/2 off.

Cabelas has a door buster sale next Saturday, with $80 off on a nice dehydrator. Sale price $119. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabel...h-All+Products . (in store only I believe - there's one fairly near us). We were really leaning towards an Excalibur dehydrator on Amazon but it's a bit over $200, so the savings is really pulling us to this sale. We'll see. My mom's machine we're using doesn't have a temperature control, like either of these other models will have and we are going to be making jerky with it is the idea.

Wow! $$$$$!!!!
I used to have a dehydrator. It was one of the inexpensive round ones. I donated to Goodwill before a move b/c I hadn't even using it. Now I wish I still had it. It worked great!

At the farmers market yesterday, I asked about Okra. They said the heat has been ruining it unless it is picked daily. Understandable there isn't much of it. THAT is labor-intensive!

My NSV this weekend was dinner out with friends. Afterward the guys wanted ice cream. It didn't even appeal to me :woohoo:

Happy Sunday all, the day slipped away yesterday and I didn't have a chance to check in. Had a great IP day yesterday (posted in menu thread) and I'm looking forward to day 5 today. What a beautiful weekend! Yesterday started at the farmer's market where I loaded up with good stuff. A local fundraiser had kid's activities set up, so the girls had a blast. We had a wonderful boat ride, then I cooked on the grill. Today - the laundry awaits, the girls need a bath, the dog needs a bath . . .

I'm on a mission to find okra in Wisconsin - that may prove to be a challenge, otherwise I know I can find it frozen which will be better than nothing. I'm also going tol try and track down a deydrator this week - hopefully 2nd-hand before purchasing new.

I've been obsessing and pouring over Phase 3 breakfast recipes for a few weeks now, waiting to earn this payoff and it tastes even better!

I was thinking last night about the folks who find themselves struggling to continue due to the 'blahs'. I had a time where I started loosing focus - had a little more protein, a little looser with my veggie measurements - and came on here and found others in the same boat (Cadu, etc) and we resolved to tighten ship and continue on. It feels reallly great to be finishing this up and going into Maintenance feeling Great, not 'good enough'. It's fantastic to change your goal weight if you find you are truly happy where you are at, but please - Be HAPPY! TRULY HAPPY! Part of this whole process was breaking through the old ways to reach your goal and prove to yourself that you can do it!

All right - off the soap box. I just really want everyone to be successful! You can reallly, truly, 100% honest reach that unattainable place you never thought possible (in my case, size 1/2...lol). Don't give up on yourself!!!

Congrats on Phase 3! You're just a great motivator, and so helpful to us all - thank you!!!

Good morning all,
I answered a couple of posts in friday's thread and if you posted late, check back there if you had a question.

One of the topics was about feeling ill, getting extra hungry and weight loss stalling. Sometimes, we eat extra when feeling ill and weight loss stalls. This happened to me - I ate extra veggies and early on in my journey here didn't realize the full impact of this - meaning just how many carbs are in certain vegetables. At the same time someone else posted a list of carbs in veggies we eat - how fortuitous. Here is that post and while I don't know who to give credit to for this, I thank you - it will help others make better choices too.

My weight loss really slowed down last week - only 1 lb - so I was trying to figure out why. From those videos recommended by evepet on http://www.idealcoaching.tv/video-samples.html I think I am one that needs the low end of the carb allowance (25 - 40g/day) to lose weight. And remember that the total daily allowance INCLUDES carbs you get from your IP products. So, my plan is to forego restricted IP products this week, and to choose veggies on the lower end of the carb spectrum (net carbs). I found I was loving those rutabaga and turnip fries, but they are on the high end for carbs.

Another helpful link from the idealcoachingtv site is
http://nutritiondata.self.com/ Click on "Foods by Nutrient" then there are several ways you can search. I came up with the following reference for myself (most are 'raw' measurements). Having a digital food scale to weigh by grams would be very helpful for things not easily measured in a "cup":

Asparagus (1c, 134g) 5 carb - 3 fiber = 2 net carbs (3g sugars)
Broccoli (1c, 91g) 6 carb - 2 fiber = 4 net carbs (2g sugars)
Brussel Sprouts (1c, 88g) 8 carb - 3 fiber = 5 net carbs (2g sugars)
Cauliflower (1c, 130g) 6 carb - 2 fiber = 4 net carbs (2g sugars)
Cabbage, green (1c, 89g) 5 carb - 2 fiber = 3 net carbs (3g sugars)
Celery (1c, 100g) 3 carb - 2 fiber = 1 net carb (2g sugars)
Cucumber w/peel (1c, 133g) 3 carb - 1 fiber = 2 net carbs (1g sugars)
Green beans, cooked (1c, 125g) 10 carb - 4 fiber = 6 net carbs (2g sugars)
Kale, fresh (100g) 10 carb - 2 fiber = 8 net carbs (0 sugars)
Mushroom, portabella (100 g) 5 carb - 2 fiber = 3 net carbs (2g sugars)
Mushroom, white (1c, 70g) 2 carb - 1 fiber = 1 net carb (1g sugars)
Onion, raw (1c, 160g) 15 carb - 3 fiber = 12 net carbs (7g sugars)
Red bell pepper (1c, 149g) 9 carb - 3 fiber = 6 net carbs (6g sugars)
Rhubarb (1c, 122g) 6 carb - 2 fiber = 4 net carbs (1g sugars)
Rutabagas (1c, 140g) 11 carb - 4 fiber = 7 net carbs (8g sugars)
Sauerkraut (1c, 142g) 7 carb - 4 fiber = 3 net carbs (3g sugars)
Snowpeas (1c chopped, 100g) 7 carb - 3 fiber = 4 net carbs (4g sugars)
Summer Squash (yellow/zucchini) (1c, 110g) 4 carb - 1 fiber = 3 net carbs (2g sugars)
Turnips (1c, 140g) 8 carb - 2 fiber = 6 net carbs (5g sugars)
V8 juice (note 1/2c, 120g) 5 carb - 1 fiber = 4 net carbs (4g sugars)

Thank you, and thank you evepets for this great info!!!

I struggled last night with some cravings, but I hung in there. For me, I literally have to take this day by day. I'm proud of myself that I stuck with it for the first 7 days. I so badly want to lose this weight, so I just have to keep my focus in the right place. You guys have been so helpful and motivating....I'm so glad I found this forum! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

I am thin! :carrot: Or I was until I was trying on a bikini and turned around to look at the back. :nono: Yesterday one of my bosses told me "That dress makes you look really thin, or maybe you ARE really thin." I just said thank you. I did look long in that dress yesterday. :D

Going to do some cardio soon. I'm making rice for my dog, and as soon as it's done, I'm outta here.

Molly, do your FedEx packages eventually show up? :?: I'm not sure what to do. I am certain it ended up on someone else's porch, and I doubt they are very much enjoying the ProtiThin oatmeal packets. I thought maybe someone would bring it to my porch as the address on the package is correct.... I am not sure if I should order more (and have it delivered to my office) or what. It took a stinkin' week to get here, and then it never made it.

I read this thread and I have so much I want to respond to, but I slept late and I am sort of brain dead. :dizzy: Sorry!

Yay for thin!!!:carrot:

Good Evening and happy saturday night... Well..vacation is over almost and i have returned home to my little port hardy..Thank God..its so much cooler up here..Down in Victoria we were having highs of 30 and 33 degrees C... and my little girl was a cranky pots because she couldnt tolerate the heat very well...

So...update on the 90 day challenge..Im officially two months in and my parents went for their official weigh in as well..(They chose their own diets) and my Dad lost 5 pounds in two months and my mom lost 3 pounds in two months.(really sounds like there diet is working for them hey?) In two months i have lost 32 pounds as of today. Thank you IP!

It was a crazy week at the parents house. I stayed 100% OP and did just fine but my mother appeared to be obsessing over everything she put in her mouth...It was like "oh i cant have a banana, its too high in sugar" but " i will have a piece of bread, its only got 21 grams of carbs" Another example of how there diet is going " I need a few cheesies to get these vitamins down" and "Im being bad and having the yam fries with my turkey sandwich on whole grain bread" (by the way..the fries were piled high..like were talking a mountain full served up with a whopping of mayo on the side") And if that wasnt enough... I came home from going for a swim with my hubby and found my parents eating "take out pizza..the greasy kind with loads of cheese"...And in my head im thinking " man oh man..no wonder your only losing 3 pounds in two months..your eating wont do anything to help you lose weight"...

Ive had several NSV's by the way..

1) I went shopping for a beautiful dress..size 20! And i have some curves back
2) My bra that i just bought is already gapping and loose
3) I sat through lunch today with my family watching them eat burgers and fries out and i ate a ceaser salad, without the crutons , with the dressing on the side and a side order of fresh shrimp to go on top.
4) I watched my hubby and father eat doughnut holes in front of me this morning at tim hortons
5) I watched my friends eat microwave popcorn
6) I fed my daughter a muffin today and didnt even taste it.

Point is: Ive learned to say no and to not even go there...I have been succeeding like crazy...and im so proud of it..because the best NSV was when i got to wear my new lingire that i had bought last year off the internet but couldnt fit last year after i quit the diet...Well i stuck to my diet..and now it fits! and hubby says "rawr" it looks good!

So ya..thats my week!

Anywho..happy OP peeps..this diet works!

Wow, you had a great week staying OP on IP, and what an eye-opener to watch your parents and all the little justifications they make to eat one thing or another. It's sound so ridiculously familiar to me in all my previous attempts at losing weight. I LOVE IP, because there isn't the wiggle room to have these conversations with one's self!

Congrats on all the NSVs - WoWzers!!!

Good Morning!
Down 3.1 pounds again this week...that seems to be a trend for me! I will take it. Feeling good. Just went through my closet and took out quite a few things that are too big!! Yeah for IP! Does anyone know how many pounds are in a dress size? I feel like I am down about two sizes at 23 pounds lost. Also I got on the WII fit game yesterday and went from obese to overweight!!!! My MII even lost weight! So cool! Have a great IP day all!:carrot:

I would imagine "pounds in a dress size" would be highly individual, as is weight for wearing certain sizes. We're all so different.

Congrats on WI

Good morning all ! Rise and shine !

Looks a bit overcast here, cool morning. I went to see some music last night. Was really tired but I forced myself out, and saw two performers, who were incredible. One was a local singer/songwriter who I loved, Gloria Roubal, and the other was a Chicago based blues guitarist/slide guitarist who I am in awe of, Donna Herula. Seeing live music always inspires me to go home and write something. Now I'm really jazzed about playing on Tuesday so practice, practice, practice !

It was also good to get out of the house and distract myself from worrying about my elevated liver enzymes. Whatever happens with that, I am determined to be stronger than it, and love my life regardless. So there! ;)

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and eat something delicious today. (of course, OP too. ;) )

Margaret

Hey everyone. Checking in after a challenging night.

My friend and I go to the fair every summer and pig out. Fried pickles, corn dogs, lemonade, fried dough...whatever we want. This year I couldn't have any of that, it was hard smelling everything. I had a little steak on a stick, water, a packet, and a giant dill pickle! I'm proud of myself as my friend did not hold back lol.

On another note, I am in a lot of pain and not feeling well. Think I am having some issues with C, and I can't do anything about it until tomorrow or Tuesday since I work tonight. Bummer :-(

AnnaBoBanna,
May I suggest LOTS of water and maybe one Novi-Lax today. Novi-Lax works and has never had me running to a bathroom in fear of an accident. Also, spinach, frozen or fresh.....works everytime for me...within a few hours!

What part of Wisconsin are you from? I lived there for sooooo many years! Still have a daughter in GB. I have never seen okra up that way for sure.

ShellyT 08-19-2012 10:41 AM

Last nite tried the cauliflower pizza and loved it! Doesn't taste like the real thing but has good flavor with veggie cheese. Did the trick on day 5 of satisfying the " can't have that" syndrome......yes you can!

Halfagain - I got my dehydrator at a Meijer store here in Illinois - it's a Nesco model FD-60 and it does have the temp control. It was about $50. I think this model is also available at Overstock.com. No need to spend that much just to get one with a temp control. I'm very happy with it so far!

Unfortunately I don't have novi-lax, but have been taking senna for a few days. And spinach actually has the opposite effect on me!

I'm going to chug even more water today though :-(
