I do nothing...waiting for the end goal to be reached. Then I am going to have a toasted "everything" bagel with veggie cream cheese and stuff it with Genoa Salami...I will also go to Pizza Hut and have meat lovers supreme stuffed crust pizza...and to the Outback and have the biggest rib eye steak in the place and a blooming onion!
Not all in the same day of course...haha!
Then I am going back on Atkins at that point and off IP...this will be my maintenance plan and I will stay on Atkins for the rest of my life and LOVE it!
Well, I will be buying a brand new wardrobe, not so much as a reward, but more out of necessity as I have completely shrunk out of my entire closet. I do plan on 'upscaling' my style though.
I think it's important to reward yourself along the way, pick something...a charm bracelet, a new shirt that fits you in your new size. Having something along the way gives you the opportunity to celebrate along the way...140+ was a long ways for me to wait to celebrate. 20 lbs is just as worthy as 140 lbs.
I gave myself new clothes, making it through Christmas was a coach purse, new years was a lululemon jacket (Christmas and new years 100% was rough so it wasn't based on a number on the scale), 100 lbs was a thumb ring with "100 gone forever". I also got a goal ring for making goal so my big rewards are always visible and I see them when I eat lol.
When I first hit 100 lbs my coached asked "how are you rewarding yourself? I hesitated and said "I used to celebrate with food so I don't know!". The thumb ring came to me two weeks later.
It doesn't matter what you do but do something to give yourself some credit along the way!
I am new to this (2wks, 2 days), but I have been putting $5 in a bucket for every pound I lose. I figure once I have reached my goal of 50 pounds, I will take my money and treat myself and a dear friend to a(nother) Vegas vacation! Once I have lost 25 lbs, I intend to treat myself to a night away for a shopping trip with some girlfriends.
I have little rewards set up for each 10 pounds ... keeps me focused on the short term because sometimes the long term gets a little overwhelming. I met my 10 pound goal this weeks WI so I am getting my nails done. Last 10 pounds I got a pedicure .... I am still working on the next reward lol!!
i like Ishbel's idea of a charm bracelet. maybe every 10 lbs i'll do that since charms for my pandorab racelet are quite expensive.. i only have 1 charm and that was a gift haha
whenever i feel like i've lost some weight i go shopping for new clothes.
i love make up so id shop regardless
but i like the bracelet and charm idea because you can always wear it and if you feel weak just look at the charms to remind yourself of your accomplishments
Set up goals for each 10lbs. I lost 40 on my own before IP and enjoyed a few mani/pedis, new shoes and a wallet. For the next few, I think I'm going to start needing new clothes. Ultimately, I'm really looking forward to buying boots this fall that aren't wide calf
I definitely used to reward myself with food on a daily basis. Now, I'm slowly starting to shift away from that. It's amazing how losing weight affects your body AND mind!
When I lose 50 pounds I am going to fly to Phoenix and shop for new clothing with my sister-in-law! I will need a new wardrobe at that point. I am doing my own alterations on my dinky sewing machine right now.
Along the way I've treated myself to a pedicure, got a new lipstick and blush color, bought a ring, and my signature shows what my final reward will be (very soon!).
I havn't thought of rewards yet. I have lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks so I think you all are giving me some great ideas.. Especially shopping. Definetely won't reward myself with food.. That's what I use to do.
A quote I am sticking to: "If you do the same thing all the time, you will get the same results everytime." So this time I will do things differently...
Great thread! I really struggle with this, as I am already spending so much on IP, it sort of feels selfish to also reward myself. I wonder if losing the weight should be reward enough. That said, I scheduled a pedi for Wednesday in anticipation that at WI I will meet my 10% loss goal! PS I've been saving $ my FIL gave me for Christmas for something like this...so I don't have to face my confusion yet :-)
I too liked the charm bracelet idea but truly cannot fathom spending more on glass beads (albeit gorgeous glass beads) than diamonds cost! I found an alternative that is really nice too at www.carlobiagi.com
I didn't do anything to reward myself for any goals met...well, I guess my only goal was my final goal weight and then I went shopping for new clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK so you all have great reward ideas but must say I still want my bagel, pizza and a rib eye! Not to reward myself...I mean I have already lost 125 pounds and no reward, the weight lost and being healthier is reward for me...I just want those food items because it has been a lifetime since I had them and they are my favorites.
being able to walk through the six flags park with my grandkids will be the best reward I could ever get.
