I've done the chocolate/coffee one with the IP packet. I picked up vanilla, milk chocolate, and butterscotch packets. I thought that I read a recipe that uses butterscotch with pumpkin pie spice.

Today I am going to try a WLS cheesecake. Maybe I'll add cocoa. Or pumpkin pie spice. Or coffee. I haven't quite decided. :)

I was thinking about trying pepperment extract with vanilla pudding for a Christmassy taste.

Thanks, glad to know the protidiet puddings work well with that recipe.
Do you use those puddings in any other recipes?
Pat

I've used a ProtiDiet butterscotch pudding packet to make one of the cookie recipes. It was the one where you use 1 packet of oatmeal & 1 pudding packet. I used a Dr. B's oatmeal packet. They turned out fine, although they were a little too soft. In retrospect I probably just needed to bake them a little longer. Over the months, I've tended to use more of the stuff from thelowcarbgrocery.com - their low carb muffin and pancake/waffle mixes, etc. I didn't order any puddings from Proteinwell.ca until my last order, which was a couple of months ago. I'm not really sick of them yet as straight puddings. :) But I'll definitely make the 'bark' again, and I'd try that cookie recipe again too.

Vitamin Alternatives

Hello Everyone,
Im new on the IP Plan (1st week) and also using some alternatives. My question is this...If using Alternatives for drinks and foods, are you also using alternatives for the Vitamins? If so, Which kinds and how much and where are you getting them.

Cal/Mag
Multi/Vita
Potassium / Calcium
Natural Omega III
Anti Oxy and Enzymes

Thanks!

There have been several discussions about vitamins - the Omegas and Anti Ox are not required, I have taken an omega 3 supplement since long before IP and you can use any drugstore variety that you like. The big ones are the Multi-Vitamin, the Cal-Mag and the Potassium-Calcium. You can probably find comparable over the counter substitutions of the Multi and the cal-mag - but make sure you get the dosing and forms of the nutrient correct. The one I have yet to find a substitute for is the Potassium-Calcium. Most commercially available potassium supplements use potassium gluconate or potassium citrate. The form of the IP potassium is potassium CARBONATE. This actually DOES make a difference because a high protein diet is already taxing on your kidneys and liver, and the reason IP uses that form of potassium is that it is gentler on your kidneys and liver than the other forms (potassium carbonate is actually a broken-down version of potassium gluconate). You don't want to put more strain on your organs than they are already experiencing just by following the diet.

I actually order the IP vitamins from plainprotein.com at a slightly lower price than my clinic was selling them for, plus they ship for free.

I'm taking fish oil from Puritan's Pride and a Kroger multi-vitamin, but everything else I am using the supplements sold at my clinic.

I need to do the cookie thing! You just mix pudding and oatmeal and water and bake? I have a wicked sweet tooth and I bet this would help.

I always use a bit of baking powder, splenda and egg in addition. I find the splenda an absolute must, not sweet enough as cookies to me, though they're fine as a shake or pudding in sweetness.

This is one I worked out that I think is closest to real cookies. It took me some time to come up with the correct amounts for the additions.

Chocolate Chip and Marshmallow pudding cookies
Packet of Chocolate Chip and Marshmallow pudding
1 tsp baking powder
1 pkt splenda (or sweeten to taste - I use 2)
2 tsp EVOO
1 1/2 tbsp egg or whites (I used egg beaters since that's all there is here)
Directions:
Mix together the dry ingredients.
Add EVOO and thoroughly mix into dry ingredients (like cutting shortening into a homemade pie crust recipe)
Add egg and mix thoroughly. Will be slightly dry and a bit crumbly.
Divide into 4ths and place on parchment paper.
Flatten (I use the other half of the parchment paper or it'll stick to your fingers.)
Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
They will still puff up and then deflate some as they cool. They are soft and chewy.

Thank you, Molly! I will give it a try! Mmmmm cookies!

So, I tried the WLS cheesecake pudding as bark. I added cocoa, splenda, a dash of vanilla da vinci. It was quite good.

I also used it with pumpkin pie spice and splenda. I used too much spice so it was a bit over the top.

My best bark recipe was the WLS chocolate cheesecake recipe from above EXCEPT I added a marshmallow extract (sugar free.) It ended up tasting like you were licking the bowl of a chocolate cake. It was the best so far!

Where are these bark recipes????

Thank you for the information and link. Order placed and I feel much better knowing Im using the correct dosages and content. Like you said, the Potassium can come in many forms and the differences are important to the body. I am new here and want to do this for myself, and for my loved ones. Which is smart dieting.
:)
Thanks again.

That actually looks really good as a packet option - 20g protein, 7g carbs (5g net carbs) so it's unrestricted, 130 calories - I'd be very curious how they taste!

I have only ever made bark with a lot of coconut oil in it. :p Sounds good though. Just a bit of water to mix everything up? :?:
