Staging my intervention

OK, I just ordered all of the jello-y drinks (at least I think I did) from Nashua because I like the Grape and Tropical Fruits diluted in 32oz of water when I workout first thing in the morning. Working out a 6AM, I have a hard time eating beforehand. This seems like a compromise. "Eat" while working out.

For bark, I make up a pudding packet, add flavorings and sweeteners, and spread it out on a cookie sheet with a silpat on it. I actually keep it in the freezer so it starts to set up as soon as it hits the pan. Don't spread it too thin as it melts quicker.

I was drooling over the bark recipes so I hurried to my pantry, grabbed a chocolate pudding packet, or so I thought! I mixed up a chocolate shake as per wuvs bark recipe! Once I realized I didn't use a pudding packet, I decided to shake with some ice and have a rich chocolately shake!! T was quite good, and I didn't want to waste an IP packet. As I was sipping that, I pulled out a protidiet chocolate pudding packet, made the recipe again! Put it outside where it froze in about 20 mins! It's -20 C here in Sask tonight! I broke it apart and bagged it up for tomorrow! I snuck a little chunk to sample and OMG it's delish!!!!!! Wow!!!! Thanks for posting!!!

That's funny, you put it outside! I forgot I used to do that a lot to freeze things fast.

I always did, too, when I lived on the east coast. Now I live in bear country and can't even have a bird feeder. Funny to remember how I used to do it. Thanks for reminding me.

Yes the magpies had a fine time when I put out my garbage this morming, and it was -15. So they likely would enjoy a bark dessert after the garbage main course.

mompattie...what types of alternatives are you using? Is there a comparison out there for carbs, protein, etc.
Smiles, :-)

There are lots of alternative brands. Here's basically what you want to look for:

12g or more protein
8g carbs or less (unrestricted item)
9g carbs or more (restricted item)
over 15g carbs (super restricted item, once or twice a week)
Calories can vary depending on the product, but I don't think there's a single IP packet that's over 200 calories. Unrestricted items seem to fall in the 90-110 calorie range, with restricted items somewhere under 160 calories.
Anything that will be comparable to IP should be very low fat.

Good luck!

Great summary for looking at alternatives! Thanks!

Just one clarification - the Strawberry Wafers from IP are 200 calories, 13g carbs and 15g protein.

BUT...they are really yummy! ;)
