I have been reading the threads like crazy but keep noticing people saying phase 3 breakfasts are only 2 weeks.
I know phase 3 is only 2 weeks but my coach/clinic aid phase 3 breakfasts are phase 4/maintenance breakfasts ie: that's my breakfast forever.
Can anyone clarify this?
Thank you.
If you read (lurk) in the maintenance thread, you'll see a lot of folks in maintenance do P3 breakfasts a lot of the time in P4.
Since p4 is an ongoing process of learning, you may want to diect the question there.
Thanks, Lisa, for the info and links to Chris Kresser's website re heartburn and carbs. For my 2nd phase 3 breakfast I had oatmeal instead of GF bread and again had heartburn.
He talks about avoiding fiber and fructo-oligosaccharides (prebiotics) if you have heartburn. I regularly eat the Quest bars which have isomalto-oligosaccharides -- don't know if this different form would have the same effect, but I have not had any heartburn while using them.
Did you end up using the HCL and getting the H. Pylori test?

Could it be the dairy? THis is day 2 of P3 for me and I had a bad headache today after sipping my coffee with a little milk in it.
I am suspicious of the milk and will skip the milk tomorrow to see what happens. I also had yogurt both days but I read that people can react differently to milk versus yogurt and cheese, so I am experimenting. One thing I like about P3 is that you have a clean slate to figure out which foods are causing the trouble. Good luck to you

It was not the dairy for me re the heartburn but Chris' articles were VERY helpful
I have an appt for the h pylori test in Aug
Onmyway - I have been in maintenance for about 8 months and still have a phase 3 breakfast every day - mostly because I love it, and having lots of protein in the morning keeps me feeling full longer. I know there are people in the maintainers thread that don't have a strict phase 3 breakfast, though.
For my 3rd phase 3 breakfast, I substituted grits. No heartburn! So, corn seems ok; GF bread and oatmeal not ok.
I tried to use the handout from my doctor's office to plan my phase 3 breakfasts and found it messy and incomplete. Here's an Excel spreadsheet I put together in case anyone else might find it useful. Caution, change only the variables in columns B through H. All of the totals are calculated for you in columns I through L.
I uploaded it to Mediafire since Excel isn't supported as a file type on 3FatChicks. If you click the link, Phase 3 Worksheet, you can choose to view it or download it to your computer.
I thought this would be a good idea to look at (and maybe use)... WRONG! The download caused TONS of junk to flood my seach engine and download to my computer. There were no options to NOT install things!!! I did manage to uninstal the programs I caught that it added. However, things are not all working correctly for me right now (seems to have slowed and gummed things up!! Running Anti-virus right away)
This might be a legit Excel program, but using the site on which it resides to access it is NOT a good idea!!!

I'm so sorry. I've deleted my post and removed access to the document on MediaFire. I use MediaFire with several large corporate clients as a cloud-based document sharing tool and have not had any issues with it installing any programs or viruses. Other 3FC Ideal Protein members have posted document links using MediaFire which other members, including me, were able to access without any problems.

Petchef - I don't blame you! The site seems to throw up popups that you don't notice or realize are not part if what you are trying to download. To get the document it has to (or seems to have to) download it's own program and that is where the pop ups seem to jump in and start also downloading.
Sorry!! (Sure would love that file so I can start planning for P3 in a couple months!)
Petchef, I can't message you b/c I'm so new, but I would soooo like that spreadsheet (if you message me I can send you my email address?) I am starting phase 3 on Wed and need help to do all the calculations so I don't go over too much on one thing and under too much on the protein...I don't have too much leeway in my weight so I don't particularly want to mess this up. When I looked at the spreadsheet it looked pretty cool. But I didn't save it!
I PMd her and asked her to PM you to get your email... I also asked her to send the excel to me.

It may not be for everyone, but I like using myfitnesspal for meal planning. It does not factor in the IP guidelines like fruit carbs, dairy carbs, etc but that is easy to do mentally. I like it and I think it will be a good tool long-term, beyond P3.
