I have just started this program again, after a long break.. This time I am finishing off the remaining IP products that I have, and am going totally with alternatives. My husband and I are both doing this, and I just can't afford $174 a week just for IP foods. The cost factor is the biggest hurdle for us, but we haven't had any adverse side effects thus far using alternatives. I order mainly for Nashua but have also ordered from Lindora. Just be certain to check the nutritional values against those of IP!! =)
Would you mind telling me the name and brand of the 2 bars that you have used? Thanks.
Sure, the Proti Thin Vanilla Peanut and Chocolate Peanut. I don't know 1000% that they're the same as IP, but the Vanilla Peanut (I never tried the IP chocolate peanut) is packed identically, and tastes the exact same. The Proti-Thin chocolate soy puffs are as well.
I just placed an order for a couple of the bars to use as my restricted food. This will save me quite a bit of money. I was thinking about having my husband measure me once a week and skip the clinic. I really don't have coaches that help you anyway. Now I just have to find an omelet that is good like the IP one and a good pudding, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! Peg
I use only IP products except for the RTD which I buy EAS drinks for that. I think the IP drinks taste better, but my daughter and I are both on IP and I was happy to cut down on the cost a bit with two of us on the diet.
I love my coach and she's really knowledgeable, so that does help a lot.
I have to agree with this! I did strictly IP until I reached my goal, but am doing mostly alternatives for my Reboot. The IP stuff really does taste better, and having my coach there was a great accountability check for me. the Proti-thin bars are a staple for me now, as are the EAS carb AdvantEdge shakes. Even when I go back on maintenance, I will use these. How about supplementing some of this for IP, and just not getting as many boxes of IP each week?
I've only used alternatives from the beginning. For the first 2-3 weeks I used protein bars & EAS shakes. Then I started buying from Nashua Nutrition [chocolate soy puffs! yum!] and I've lost 20.5lbs in 6 weeks plus almost 4 pants sizes!

I order from Nashua Nutrition. They have omlets and puddings on that site as well. I can't speak to the omlets as I've never ordered them, but I do like the butterscotch putting! I usually add extra water and heat it in the microwave for a hot butterscotch drink. I even add some caramel syrup sometimes too...it's delicious!

After being on IP for almost 6 weeks, I'm finding it becoming quite expensive. So I made the decision to switch to alternatives and placed my first order with proteinwell.ca this morning. Not only was the order a LOT cheaper, but tax was only added to the bars and shipping was free as the order was over $100. Thank you to everyone on this site who gave me the knowledge to make this switch, I am so happy that I can continue onward and downward...
I started with IP with the plan to do 5 weeks then go to all alternatives.
I have not found a chocolate powered drink that is as chocolatey, but
I have gotten my Nashua Nutrition order and the choc soy puffs are the same, one of the Carmel bars is the same, some of the vanilla layered cookie bars are the same too!
I am going to wait until week 5 so I can get the cleanse and one more round of supplements but then I am going to go all alternatives
I will search now on what the best chocolate drink alt is

If it helps, I use the EAS Carb Advantege drinks. I buy a case at SAMS club, but you can also find the 4-pack at Walmart, Target and some grocery stores. They are pretty comparable to the IP drinks. I've tried the Chocolate Fudge, French Vanilla, Carmel Mocha, and the Dark Chocolate. They are all delicious! I will say they aren't as creamy tasting as IP, but they are still good. I don't recommend the powder mix. I find I'm fuller longer on the RTD.
I am starting the plan for a second time and will be using Doctor's Best Weight Loss products. Their prices are fair and the selection is good. You can also purchase other products from their site.
Have a blessed day!
I just looked at their website and they have some interesting products. have you come across a substitute for the IP broccoli cheese soup? It's my favorite!
Thanks~
I use some alternatives but first I review the nutrition label - and if its similar to an IP item I might purchase it. I am trying not to stray from the IP products because they were made for this specific diet. I am having success with the IP products. If I do use alternatives I might only do 1 or 2 a week to supplement. Maybe when I lose more I will consider more alternatives - just not right now! Hope this helps - I know many people have lost with alternatives - I am just not ready to do that yet!
hey, off topic a bit but i noticed we have similar goals and losses....how long have you been on IP? How are you finding your numbers on weigh ins? Thanks!!

No, I do not like the soup very well and have not purchased any of the alternative soups. Have a nice evening!

Same here!
The omelets are YUMMY!! One our favorites. I usually make them on the weekend when the hubby and I can actually enjoy breakfast together!

I am on diet 1.5 week using 100% alternative and down 10lb. I am ordering my food from Nashua Nutrition. I can't say I enjoy the test of the food, but it works and I am happy . Here is the spread sheet I found on this site that compares IP to alternative products, that helped me to choose what to order. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spre...thkey=CMr939oK
