I also get (1) restricted a day, and have since the beginning.
Another thing that helps with the salty, crunchy cravings have been Claussen dill pickle spears. I tend to like the bars for their sweetness and look at them as a treat. So for me, it seems like a waste to not have the bar or chocolate soy balls But I have found that pickles fit the bill when I do have a craving for something salty and crunchy.
And even though I get wrapped up in the number on the scale, deep down I believe that inches matter more than pounds. Inches are what make your clothes feel better or make you change sizes. That is why I don't really have a set goal weight, because for me it is going to be more about what size I am and how clothes fit. When I get there, I will know.
Thank you to everyone who has shared the comments.
I really am looking at both weight and inches lost and most of all, how my clothes fit and how I feel. This past week a lot of people have notice my weight loss eventhough its been 6 weeks of gradual weight loss. I have to shop for new pants/shorts and I dont have "overflow" of my belly in my pants. I am going to have my hubby take photos of me as I havent taken on since the evening before I started on IP.
Actually my coach has asked me do a bootcamp this week - going back to my 3 restricted packs with one reg meal for the next week. No restricted items so i am going to indulge in the pickle spears that jennydoodle recommended to get me past this week.
Any loss is good I also tend to feel disappointed when my pound loss is low but it seems to go like that. One week big numbers on the scale and then the next week low numbers but big inches lost. Therefore I've been trying to look at in two week increments, which makes me feel much better
When the ideal protein diet first started up it was suggested that we stay away from restricted items for at least the first few weeks to jump start our systems. It has since been determined that by allowing people restricted items from the start keeps people on program with more success than by denying them the restricted items. It has also been determined that restricting higher carb packages does not increase weight loss by any significant amount.
Some coaches still follow the older protocol and others have adopted the newer views.
Neither is wrong really but one thing remains the same...only 1 restricted per day.
Personally try to only have them a few days a week....a bit of both worlds
Hi, fellow newbies!
I have a question. This is my Day Thirteen on IP. Today I have a lingering headache on the lower back of my head and feel weak and dizzy. I had a half an hour long nap and have been sipping warm tea with some sea salt sprinkled in. I wonder where this weakness comes from. For chrissake, this is not even Week One!
Will begin my journey starting tomorrow and i'm in desperate need of some ideas for cooking veggies. BTW my coach did not give me any of the snacks for wk#1, can I request them for week #2? just looking for some suggestions being that I LOVE POTATOE CHIPS!!!!!

After my week 2 weigh in, my coach permitted me to buy some restricted as I told her I was either going to have a resticted or potato chips. My fav is the Southwest Cheese Curls but I do find them spicier than I prefer and now I am used to it. I love the the package is bigger than expected so I really feel like I am indulging. I have tried the salt and vinegar and also the bbq ridges but I find the "chip" denser and I will eat it if it is my only restricted left. I tend to like savory snacks rather than sweet ones so I am biased in my snack preference.
I love potato chips too and turnip fries and zucchini chips just didnt cut it for me.
Regarding your veggies, I the Lettuce Wrap on the Recipes thread. Also the thai salad dressing is terrific and I have been eating salad with this dressing now on Week 6 and still not sick of it - if anything I look forward to my salads - who would ever had thunk it
I've also had restricted items since day one. They are what takes the edge off especially on difficult days. It's better to have a restricted item over some junk that you will only regret after.
I'm not a real fan of the salt and vinegar chip. They will help you drink your water since you really need to wash them down.
Texankay - I am on my fifth week and the other day I got very light headed and had to close my eyes and sit down for a few minutes. I am not sure why, but it has not happened again.
Hello. I'm new to IP and the Forums ^_^. I learned about IP from my massage therapist sister that works for a physical therapist and trainer in a doctors office. The first thing I thought was UGG, I've done that. HCG, right? And it wasn't that I minded the HCG diet, it was that the drops I bought, after weeks of thinking they were working, I found out they were fake and I was just starving myself for nothing. The real stuff is way more expensive. So Initially I was like, uh, no. Then she brought me in and the doctor talked to me about it. I read the pamphlet, and was interested. The trainer that works there is what really got my hyped. This person is a very health-wise person that probably would never recommend the HCG diet to anyone, but He does recommend this. So after much research, I have decided that I would like to do this. On friday, I have my consultation and pick up my food in the morning. So Friday will be day one. This is it. ;D

I didn't get any restricted, my coach said after week 3... boo hoo
To the poster who feels weak, I think they may happen from time to time, it is a very restrictive (calorie-wise) and in the phases that your body is adjusting, I think being tired will happen. I had a lazy day yesterday, but feel fine today.
Thanks everyone! I find some days better than others with my cravings. Today I have kept on track so I am happy.
GailMarie agree - I do find it strange that some coaches let you have one restricted item a day and others like my coach do not permit it.
I did buy some southwest cheese curls today. Has anyone tried it?
I know that I will enjoy every bite when I need them and hearing that you have 1 restricted a day will alleviate my guilt as I can reach for these instead of potato chips. Also I dont feel like I am missing out when my hubby is munching right next to me as I have a reasonable option readily available. He's been great and supportive. I found him eating some chips in our pantry so I dont see him eating in front of me.
Mamarix - thanks for letting me know about the ticker and I am going to work towards getting one so I can see weeks ahead how far I have accomplished. i will check out the link too.
Thanks everyone!
Southwest Cheese curls are my favorite! They don't taste like diet food and there is so much in the pack.
