Default Kinda a bummer!

So I just got home from my 1st weigh in! I lost 20 inches!!! And only 3 lbs!!! WHAT IS UP WITH THAT??? I stayed on the program to THE TEE! NO deviating at all!!! I drank more water than called for - about 5 litres/day. My clothes feel looser today, I feel like I've lost.

Also, the scale bounced around alot - 3 lbs either way (up and down), and I got on and off the scale many times. When I stood on the scale last week, I was doubtful of my weight (I thought I was heavier than that). I don't own a scale, I go by how I feel and how my clothes feel on me.

My coach thinks the scale could have been off last week - new location, new scale, etc., and that my initial weight was higher.

What do you guys think? Is it possible to lose 20 inches and only 3 lbs?? I'm kinda discouraged, but I KNOW KNOW KNOW that I will just leave this in this week and next week is new....looking towards a new week and leaving this week in the past. But kinda disappointed too that I didn't see that big first week drop after all my hard work this week.

20 inches!!! that is AWESOME. Congratulations. I understand that 3lbs is discouraging it doesn't sound right I agree. But 20 inches wow. Isn't that what it is all about? Being thinner? 20 inches in one week is cause for celebration.

Exactly! Regardless of what the scale says (or didn't say last week)... you lost an incredible amount of inches!!! YOU feel that you've lost and you're clothes show it. I know our scale numbers are important to us, but that's all they are is numbers. The important part is how we feel about our accomplishments and if we FEEL we look better. There are so many variables that can affect weight. I know that we shouldn't be exercising, but even so who knows, maybe you gained some muscle at some point, which would increase scale numbers. Just remember that what you achieved IS A WONDERFUL ACCOMPLISH, so please feel good about it and not bummed. Either way, I'm proud of ya!

Wow!!! 20 inches in just a week! At my 4 week WI I hadn't quite reached 20 inches. I'd say if the scale was fluctuating like that either your first or last WI was off. I agree, it's all about the inches. Celebrate!

Celebrate the inches. Ultimately, we don't walk around wearing our weights on a card around our necks... it's the inches that show! Take it and look forward to more!

exactly. losing inches is most important. improving body composition. if you lost inches, that means you've replaced that with muscle which is smaller, or that you just got rid of fat. either way, good deal!

try to think about other changes about yourself too. the scale isn't the most important.
are you feeling more mentally alert?
recharged?
more energy?
stronger, faster?
improved your fitness level?
found veggies or other healthy food that's delicious?
i could go on and on. so many little changes. little nsv's. celebrate! this is great!
