Net Carbs
I have a question on calculating net carbs. Do you just take the carbs listed minus the fiber, or does any sugar play a role? I was looking up nutritional info for zucchini and saw there was a sugar total. Do I need to take that into account too when figuring out how many carbs I eat per day?

Soon2Be
congrats on the tracker, the will power at dinner(especially Tex Mex!YUUUUUUM!!) and the bra:carrot: ellie you always crack me up, i imagined you running into the store with a hoodie and sunglasses on it super stealth mode, hopping on the scale and then running out. LMAO! got on the scale today and to my surprise i only gained a pound after my awful cheat on saturday:^:-popcorn:corn: and chips and salsa-i fell out of ketosis, obviously-and was expecting to be back in the 170's. i will probably be at 166 or 165 on friday which means another week of phase 1 but honestly, i'm comfortable here in this phase-kind of like pita, i'm scared to move to phase 2 and possibly gain weight.:yikes: anyone else worreid about going back to "normal eating" again? i feel so safe with my packets and veggies and salad:lol: |
Re: humidity and puffiness: "So if you don't drink sufficient water, you can impair every aspect of your physiology. Dr. Howard Flaks, a bariatric (obesity) specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif, says, 'By not drinking enough water, many people incur excess body fat, poor muscle tone and size, decreased digestive efficiency and organ function, increased toxicity in the body, joint and muscle soreness and water retention.'
Water retention? If you're not drinking enough, your body may retain water to compensate. Paradoxically, fluid retention can sometimes be eliminated by drinking more water, not less." The reason I know this is true is because a LOT of tourists to Hawai'i get dehydrated (as well as sunburned) because they don't realize that the higher the humidity, the more body moisture you use. I know it sounds counterintuitive on the surface but do drink more water when the humidity is high. Since we rarely ever get the really humidity and never the scalding hot temperatures of some places on the mainland, I can only imagine how much greater the effect can be there than here. N.b., record high in Hilo, HI -- 93 degrees F; usual summer humidity -- 65%. |
I have my first official weigh in on Thursday.... Very excited, but for some reason the weight loss is much slower this week...
Not sure what the deal is TOM was last week... Will keep on trucking... had some unbelievable will power this weekend at all the bbq's. had a small glass of Sweet Tea flavored vodka (no carbs) and sipped it all night and still felt like I was drinking w/ my peeps..... Looking foward to posting results! Hope everyone has a great week! |
I have two NSVs to report.
On Friday I met a friend of mine for lunch. She was waiting in the mall outside the place we were going to eat. When I walked in the door, she mouthed, "oh my gosh" about three times, then she made me spin around a couple then she grabbed me and hugged me and told me how great I look. What a motivator!! She had not seen me since March I think. Today, my mom and I went to Sam's Club and I found a cute pair of Bermuda shorts, picked up a size 16 and thought, what the heck, so as Sam's does not have a dressing room, I slipped them on over my pants, they got up and were tight so my mom said they won't be tight in a week, let's get them. So, I brought them home and am proud to report, I fit into a size 16 MT (muffin top for you newbies). Yooohoooo!! When I started my membership at the gym a year ago, my goal was not a #, it was to get into size 16. I know not all brands are going to fit, but still...16!!!! I think I was 9 the last time I could get into that size. I LOVE IP!!!! |
