As some of you may know we adopted him after 5 years of trying for a baby, then when he was born he was very sick and the doctors told us he had a mitochondrial disease (basically means the cells in his body don't function properly) and wasn't going to make it....after a long week of praying and hoping he started getting better and after a month in the NICU we've never looked back. He's a healthy thriving crazy little boy!

Anyway what does this have to do with Ideal Protein well a few things actually:

1. I can't wait for all my family and friends to see me down 50+ lbs!
2. I need some serious willpower to get through all of this!! The food list is getting more and more amazing as the days go on...have I mentioned that both my parents and Hudson's tummy mummy are Red Seal Chefs?

I was packing up loot bags this morning and of course I picked out all my favorite candies to put in them...why would I do that to myself lol. Then I spent half an hour talking to Hudson's tummy mummy about what kind of cake, cupcakes and ice cream she's making for the party....suddenly my vanilla pudding coffee concoction didn't seem all that yummy!!

Sigh - Diet Gods grant me some willpower :)

I can see you HAVE TO celebrate his birthday... YES :celebrate:

Just remember that you are ultimately doing all of this for that baby boy too... so he can enjoy a lovely, beautiful and HEALTHY mommy for a long long time!

BevS! I couldn't restrain myself and had rhubarb again last nite. HopefulTricia is so right is really does feel like I am completely cheating. I think I used 2 Ketostix just to make sure that that kind of delicious didn't knock me out of ketosis...it didn't!!! and I was down a pound today.
Preparing it: I just take 4cups of unsweetened frozen rhubarb (the fresh isn't ready here yet) put it in a microwaveable bowl and add a little Splenda. Then I throw it in the microwave for 10min.(stir it around at about 7min) and then enjoy!
Depending on your microwave it made need more or less time. It will be significantly less in the bowl once cooked because of the water content of the rhubarb.
Chaplains wifey...So excited for you today! Go and enjoy each moment and know how incredible you look :)
Fluffymama Take those two lbs with a smile, knowing that they are gone forever..great job!

Jordanna....You can do it! Once you start receiving the compliments about how fabulous you look, the goodies will start to look less appealing, I'm sure of it! Go amaze them with your willpower. Enjoy your little man's birthday, the first of a funfilled future:)

Fresh stalks cut up in 1" or so chunks. Boiled in water for not all that long. It gets stringy and mushy pretty fast. Drained it in a seive and then added splenda to taste. Made enough to have more tonight. It's just different and more like a fruity dessert than anything we can have on phase 1.
And you are so right. Anything we can do to change it up a bit really matters. Keeps me from cheating and that is all I need to accomplish right now. Yesterday's menu of chocolate cake and hot chocolate and rhubarb doesn't even sound like a diet to me... don't want that every day but it was perfect for yesterday.
I've been stuck in a rut of lamb chops, fish, cucumbers, celery, romaine lettuce, and occasionally cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, green beans, red meat or chicken. And vanilla box drinks!!
I try to follow the blood type diet too. and for B+ blood you aren't supposed to eat chicken or pork or lobster or shrimp. It really limits your choices. I try to do it....

I took the advice from a poster and changed the number of posts displayed on a page to 40. What a difference that made. You go to User CP, Edit Options, and down a ways to change the number of posts shown at once.

I have a WI today and expect not to be excited by my loss. I think I only lost about 1# this week and not quite 2# last week. I think I might be having too much salt. I just need to tighten up my food a little I think to get some better losses. Also I am going on vacation Sat for a week, and think that will maybe help my loss the first week back? What have some of you experienced after going off the plan somewhat for a week? It seems that a small shakeup in my eating plan has helped get my losses going again.

HopefulTricia 04-20-2010 12:07 PM

Jordanna-- if you send your address I will send you a chocolate cake package. Add 2 ounces water and cook in microwave for 1 minute. You will have your own cupcake size cake for the party...It has 9 carbs.
And congratulations on your son's birthday. I have 2 sons that I am very thankful for--sounds like you have many reasons to celebrate your child's birthday. Have fun! And if it's like my son's parties have been, you'll be too busy to eat!:bday2you:

Good luck today - you'll do great!! Just think about your husband and how much he'll appreciate what you're doing! Have confidence, you've worked hard for what you've achieved! New experiences, especially ones you are nervous about sometimes turn out to be some of the best experiences, so don't let your nerves get the best of you :)

I have contacted my local clinic and told them that I'm not able to make it in during normal hours because of work and they were not willing to work with me at all. No Ideal to Go programs or anything. So if they aren't willing to work with me, I'm not willing to pay them.
So I have come back to you all for some help. I have a copy of the Phase I Dieter Handout, and I can order from Lindora, but I need help with knowing what vitamins I need to be taking and what extra info I might need to know. Like how many carbs etc. I should be having each day. I'm determined to do IP and get to my goal weight, and the people at the clinic are not going to keep me from it!

Not sure why you can't do Ideal to Go online... can you explain?

From their web site: Ideal To Go allows Ideal dieters to utilize the Ideal Protein Program when they may not otherwise have access to an Ideal clinic.

I should think you qualify on the grounds of time availability.
