Hello all,
I have a question regarding the vegetables (from the select list) that we are allowed to have two cups of at lunch and dinner. Does anyone ever go over the two cups? I have found out..
Although I have a food scale, I've been loading up my 2 cup measure (and sometimes just eyeballing it ) and going off that...I then started this week to measure with the scale and I can tell that I have actually been eating MORE of vegetables (over the two cups based on gram weights per cup by particular vegetable) than I thought I was and this is sort of a bummer.
I am also wondering what other people and their coaches (the ones that have a clue) say about going over the 2 cup veg...is it an ABSOLUTE NO-NO...or is ok to do from time to time? I am not talking about a heap more, but maybe 1/8 to 1/4 cup more?
A situation for me might be I cook up 2 cups broccoli and cauliflower but then while sauteeing some chicken, I end up throwing a few mushroom slices in. Am I fooling myself that this is OK when potentially it is NOT?
Any imput is great appreciated!
My question would be, "Are you losing?" If yes, then it's working for you My coach was more concerned because I wasn't getting in my veggies. She said 4 cups per day, so I guess she wasn't differentiating between the meals. I will try to remember to ask next time I go, but that isn't until Thursday.

Chaplain's wifey - Glad you like the raspberry jello for salad dressing! So yummy, eh! I also will use the Walden Farms raspberry jam in my dressings. Blend it really well with oil/vinegar and spices. So delish!
Just a little FYI. My coach just got back from an IP conference in California (my center sends all their coaches to conferences). She said she got sooo much information. The biggest one of all, she thought, was absolutely, positively no alcohol. I wanted her to find out about the Collagen packets for my skin. She said every other day is fine but one packet a day is optimal. So I asked if 2 packets a day would be even better (because, unfortunately, I am of the mindset that 'if a little is good than a LOT is even better!'). She said that never came up (I guess a lot of coaches had the same questions).

Yes it was good . I did notice this morning that the jello had formed in the bottom of it . I shook it and it broke up again . Is this normal . Was I suppose to use the whole packet of Jello ?

Mystical Mamma - today I had the vanilla pudding with Butter Toffee flavored coffee - still a little sprinkle of cinnamon on top - it was sooooooo good! You'll never know how much of a difference this tip means to me and my success! Thanks
in Dr.Chann's book he says that you can do all IP packets but still have veggies at lunch and dinner. the fish at dinner is really supposed to help for social settings. so yeah, pretty much i only have the packets and the first 3 days of week two i've lost five pounds.
well I was just trying to figure out what you meant because it sounded like you were only having packets, no meat or veggies. Is that what your saying??
#1 - Can vegetarians do this diet? My daughter wants to do it and she doesn't eat any meat, which I think as long as she did 4 packets daily would work.
#2 My daughter only wants to lose 12-14 lbs... is that okay for this type of diet?
#3 Is Splenda allowed? If so, how much, how often, when?
#4 My dr/coach said I can have italian dressing (wishbone) on my salad, has everyone else been told that? If so, how much is allowed?
#5 My dr/coach said "NO exersize" but I hear a lot of people talking about working out, so I'm confused... I know a few people who go to him and they are doing amazing!!! He himself has lost 50 lbs since January. So to work out or not to work out - that is the question!

Kelsey, I have a really hard time with salad dressings so I found the packet of Good Seasonings Italian dressing and make it myself with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and White Vinegar. They even provide a cute little container to shake it in. It has 0 sugar and less that 1 carb per tablespoon. I took it in to my coach and she said "go for it" The IP packets have more carbs than that. It also helps me fill my oil requirement. I only use 1 tablespoon on my salads though. Don't drown it
My doctor said in regards to exercising that he didn't want my heart rate to stay up in the cardio zone for long periods of time. I do lots of toning classes such as Pilates and Stability ball and he said that's okay. Today we had a Bootcamp class with tons of cardio and I just modified some of the moves when I really started to get winded because that can do the opposite of what this diet is supposed to do.

Welcome!! One trick that I use to keep from being hungry is just spacing out all of my food. What I mean is, I will have my i.p. in the morning, and then about noon have veggies or salad, or both. Then about two or three o'clock have my next i.p. Dinner is around 5 or 5:30. Then i.p. again about 9. That way I am not starving during the day!!

I asked my coach the same question and she said to be careful what veggies you "load" up on. Broccoli and cauliflower for instance are higher in carbs, so for sure no more than 2 cups. Cucumbers and celery you could go over and it wouldn't affect anything. She was going to give me a sheet saying how many carbs were in a cup of specific veggies, but couldn't find one. I'm sure you could find something online. They just want us to stay at about 25 carbs a day and no more.

Hi, MTG, I just checked my Lindora boxes. None of them had any aspartame in them. They had sucralose (Splenda) and acesulfame-K, which is not aspartame.
GOOD. there is aspartame in some of their products- good deal then- let us know how they work out.
Thanks to everyone for the congrats on hitting the 50lb mark. I can truely understand the frustration of people not noticing. For me I think there are several reasons why people don't say anything: 1) I have a whole lot of weight to lose and although I can see the difference in 50lbs some people just aren't as observant, 2) often times when someone is so overweight people are afraid to offend them even with a positive comment about weight loss, 3)the people I see the most are co-workers, some of whom I would consider good friends, but over the last 10 years they have watched me lose a little, gain a little, lose a little, gain a little (can you say yo-yo?) and so they are even less sure about saying something, and 4) I had so many clothes in my closet that were small enough to transition into over the last 50lbs that my clothes haven't gone through that baggy look, I have simply transitioned things out when I don't feel like they look good anymore. And realistically, much of what I was wearing was too tight to begin with.
Even my family says very little about my success or changes. It will be interesting to see what is said tomorrow, I will be seeing my brother and SIL at a family dinner and I haven't seen them since the middle of January. My mom doesn't usually have positive things to say about my weight or looks and two weeks ago she said I looked thinner in the face and neck one day and then the next day said she could tell by my outfit that I really had lost a good amount of weight.
I have taken this battle on for me. My joints were hurting, I had little energy, and all I wanted to do was stay home. I decided that wasn't the life I wanted to live and I knew/know that if I didn't/don't change something it will be a short and lonely life. When I started I didn't tell anyone for the first two weeks. The first people I told were my mom and my sister and the only reason I told them was because we were going on a family trip and talking about who was going to bring and prepare what food. Then I told a friend at work and my hairdresser, but I didn't tell even my best friend until just last night. I have avoided social eating situations as best I can around people who don't know. About 3 days ago a co-worker said she noticed I was "slimming down" and when I told her I had lost 50lbs she said congrats and laughingly said "and I have found it." That same day I shared with my friend at work (the one who has known since the beginning) that I had hit the 50 mark and she was not as congratulatory as I had hoped. It hurt! Then last night when I shared with my best friend that I had been on a program and lost 50lbs since the beginning of Dec. she said "that's great" but it was in her less than enthusiastic voice.
I have decided that my weigh loss number sharing will only occur on this board as I know that you all are here to support me and will encourage me to keep moving forward even when the scale doesn't.
As I reread this post I realized it was quite long and almost a downer, so I want to clarify that I am very happy with the changes that are occuring. A scale victory for me was that this morning when I weighed myself (I am a daily scale hopper) the number was a number I clearly rememeber seeing for the first time at a doctors appointment in the summer of 1994. I know I have not been at or below this number since. VERY EXCITED!!!!

Wow! Why does your coach say wasabi is fine and my coach says it's not? That was the response I got from the coach when I asked about eating sushi- no wasabi! They practically yelled it at me. Which didn't really make sense since I eat fresh horseradish and it's the same species of plant. Also, all natural ginger (the root or the powder) shouldn't have aspertame in it. Maybe the pickled stuff does? I'll ask them what's in it next time.
all natural ginger doesn't have it, but at sushi bars, they always serve the pickled kind (pink color) and that one DOES have aspertame in it. I eat sushi at home, meaning I buy some of the precut raw fish and eat it. the wasabi I use has little to no carbs, because it doesn't have sugar in it. As long as you aren't eating it out of the tube, it doesn't seem like a problem to me. The ginger though... if you eat it, you can tell it is a bit sweet. so that one, you shouldn;t eat. do some investigation, go to a japanese market and check out the nutrition.
also, I don't use soy sauce anymore, I found this one soy sauce substitue called amino acid by the Bragg brand. it only has 100 mg of sodium, way less than even low sodium soy sauce. then, eat sushi without guilt
