Hello everyone! We just returned from Las Vegas a few hours ago, and it feels sooooo good to be home. My boyfriend and I ended up going off plan for the last several days of our trip. This was a conscious decision that we made, and one that I don't regret. We were with a group of friends, and in a city that has some AMAZING food, and instead of obsessing over my weight and missing out on the enjoyment of our vacation, we chose to eat as we pleased. We did walk ALOT though, at least 5-7 miles per day, so luckily the exercise helped balance out the extra calories. And I have to say, although I really enjoyed the food and not obsessing over what and when to eat, I am looking forward to getting back on plan. I just didn't feel very well the past few days, and I miss the healthy feeling that I have when on the plan. I just weighed myself, and I only gained a few pounds, most of which I'm hoping is the glycogen and water weight, and I'm hoping will come off again quickly once I get back into the diet and into ketosis. I hope you've all had a great and successful week!

BTW, I am now down 11 lbs in 11 days -- using only 1 IP pack during that time (cause I wanted something convenient). |

QUOTE=torchlaker "Whew...it took me over an hour (it is now 2am) to get thru the other posts in the other forum. I kinda went thru a bunch of emotions...first anger...then hositility...etc. Still kinda upset...so decided not to post anything there in case it would cause more uproar. It was nice to see the newbies stick up for "alternative" ideas. Personally, I would have been thrilled to know there were different alternatives when I started...cuz the programs cost really put me in a bind. I am even more financially strapped after the car, etc., now...."
I hope you guys don't mind me jumping on this forum - not sure if I'm new or old but an interesting deal happened today and I too respect that each of us are here doing a low-carb...and IP is pricey. I totally believe in the process - excited to have the support here. I had overdone it physically (snowshoeing w/hubby) and was drained when we stopped by the mall to exchange a couple items...stopped into a GNC - to see if I could find an ok snack - actually visited with the manager that was familiar with IP and how the plan works. He explained in great detail and he too highly recommends the EAS Myoplex Carb Sense (like I saw someone mention earlier) - only had chocolate cream in stock for about $2.00/pack. 140 cal/Total Carb 6/Dietary Fiber 3/Sugars 0 - Net carbs 3. He didnt have the bulk as reasonable as others have talked about - a little under $2 which could work at stage 3 or 4 - cuz he adds blueberries/skim milk. But anyways, I bought a box ... and am thrilled to start using them! |
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TORCHLAKER!!!!!

I'm pretty sure someone on this thread is a pharmacist or a pharmacy student, or maybe just some of you wiser veterans might know the answer to this one:
Some questions have been coming up on the boards about finding the potassium supplement outside of an IP clinic, and it was my understanding that you can't get a comparable potassium supplement off the shelf because of the high dose (which is perfectly balanced for the diet we're on, but not safe for the general populace to be taking). I guess my question (so I can answer some of the newbies who've been discussing it) is has anyone found a comparable potassium supplement and if so where? |
I just have to remember: One day at a time....And each day will pass no matter what!!!:?::?:

Hey Echobaby
you seem very smart about where to buy alternative IP products. I've searched the sites you have listed, but I have never found my two favorites ...butterscotch pudding and chocolate soy snacks. My IP center now sells an alternative product called ProTI 15. They claim they are the manufacturer of IP products. Cheaper but unfortunately they do not carry my two favs. They are approx $1 less per packet than IP but their website looks like they will not sell to the general public. Not sure if you have run accross chocolate snacks or butterscotch pudding, but I thought I would check. Thank you!! |

These actually look like they'll be great for maintenance, since they're so much more affordable! And Jordanna, I'm the pharmacy student. If you direct people to a search thread on potassium, they should find our previous discussion on the supplements. |
