Hi guys:
Getting on late tonight....and I have to teach a painting class tomorrow so I painted until midnight to make sure I knew how to explain the techniques.

Big day...really. Got my new car -- in a snowstorm. Cried when I left my car...but stopped crying really quick, when I realized I didn't know how to put my window back up -- figured that out...and drove 26 miles before I finally figured out how to turn the back windshield wiper on. Went right from the dealer to the therapist...and right from the therapist to the weighin. So I was on the road a lot....car seems good....used to a 6cylinder...so it doesn't quite have the pep mine did. I was gonna read all the hightech stuff tonight, but I had to paint too late.

OK - I only took in the Lindora oatmeal and pudding to the doctor. She looked at them. She said the Lindora oatmeal is REAL oatmeal, so if I am gonna eat real oatmeal, just go buy it from the store.

She said the puddings weren't bad....they were sweetened with aspartane, but they weren't bad. She also gave me a list of foods that I could eat instead of eating IP or Lindora.....but I gotta find that list first. I remember no-fat cottage cheese, a can of tuna, 1 T. peanut butter -- each one of those would be in place of one IP packet.

BUT -- since I lost 3# (yay!!) - I think I will continue on Phase I (altho someday I do throw in a real omelet, like they allow on Phase II). I am now only 6# from goal. (well, their goal...I guess mine, too....now). I am not going to weigh in for 2 weeks now...and did buy IP's oatmeal and some various things.

I basically think - what I should have done - and some of you did - is compare "apples to apples." I have never looked at the labels from either. I did ask her about the 20-25 g. of carbs a day....and she said most people on IP were at about 30-40g....VERY strict (bootcamp??) is 20-25. She was more interested that I get protein in...(she gave me the total grams for that, but I haven't even begun to look at my sheet -- it is mixed up with all my car stuff).

But - my theory is this -- I think I will use both Lindora AND IP AND her food suggestions (when I need it). After all, I did lost 3# (with only 1 BM all week). Wow...just think if I had gone!!

I will change my ticker at another time. I am pretty braindead right now.

Torchlaker, your weightloss is great!.
I looked at my Lindora carb chart (which I can't figure out how to post.....it's a PDF....anybody know how? I can email it to whomever wants to figure it out) and the oatmeal has a lot of carbs. No wonder you never turned purple. But it obviously didn't hurt you. Way to go.

Mom22 02-10-2010 11:55 AM

can someone tell me why my ketostix aren't turning purple? I don't have them here with me but I think they read "some" (about the second color up). I'm having omelet (or pudding made into a drink) for breakfast, chicken soup and celery, radishes, cucumbers and lettuce for lunch and my 5 oz of protein with veggies (yesterday was cauliflower) and lettuce for supper. dressing is oil/vinegar with a bit of splenda. no restricted and only low carb veggies for quite a while now. i remember someone, maybe elishatamar, mentioned after you've been on the diet for a while, your readings won't be as high. i'm just wondering because although i've lost weight steadily, i haven't lost anthing more than 2 lbs/week.

??? Torchlaker is having the same problem right now. Someone somewhere along the line said that if you are drinking a lot of water, that it effects your ketostix reading to be less, even though you are still in ketosis.

torchlaker 02-10-2010 05:14 PM

SylvieG -- wow! I am so impressed!! AND...like i told you before (and now Mom22 is telling you) - you need to change your ticker!! It doesn't even show how much work you have put into this!!!

Yeah, I am having problems showing anything on the ketostix. Wish I had never ordered the stupid things!! I THINK it showed a "trace" this a.m., but maybe the lighting was bad!! My nurse told me Tuesday that it NEVER shows that she is in ketosis....I guess I get compulsive/obsessive with the sticks just like I get with the scale!! I never seem to drink enough water, so that can't be the problem.

...and I hate my new scale (springloaded). I should have gotten another digital one...at least it shows increments. I can't even tell my scale is moving on the springloaded one. But my digital was only 2 years old...and it showed 4#-7# higher than the drs all the time).

...and (isn't this awful??) since I know I am not going to weigh in for 2 weeks, I have been tempted to cheat all day long!! I haven't....I walk away or try to do something else. (Do you ever see wrestlers hit themselves on the side of the head before they go into the ring -- even jr.high and high school kids do it! THAT is what I feel like doing so I won't cheat!!) It would be so awesome to reach goal this month so I could be on Phase 3 or 4 before I leave for St. John.

Decided the SUV is too high-tech for me....I have really got to sit down and go thru the owners manual. I told OgDog that I am locking myself in my house...not answering the phone and turning off the computer for the next few days, so I can get this clutter cleaned up and start sewing. I am done teaching classes (I think) until I get back from St. John. (oh yeah...I probably should exercise, too AND try on some clothes to see if my bathing suit fits at all...or any shorts!)

Ok, I posted the Lindora Carb Chart on the regular IP thread, thanks to Ogdog. I would post here too but I don't have Adobe on my home computer and being somewhat computer illiterate, I'd have to wait for my son to come home.

Ogdog, thanks a million.

BTW, the only way I can see the paperclip when trying to just post it with a regular reply is to click "go advanced". I hadn't tried that yet.

Hey, I did it by accident!!!

I'm locking myself in my house for the same reasons, Torchlaker. I'm halfway done with the Spring cleaning, and I have to say my head is clearer. Speaking of Spring cleaning (yes I know it's not Spring), How many of you are having a hard time giving away your pre-IP clothes? I know I should be confident that I'm never gonna need them again. But I'm having issues. Like, that was expensive!!! Or, what if I DO need them? No, I'm not a pack rat.

Anyway, I have a brand new(2weeks) next-door neighbor and after I dropped off some fresh bakery goods to her, she keeps dropping by( She's retired). I know it's wrong, but half the time I'm dead tired after just coming home from work, and I feel like my house should always be immaculate when people come over, and I'd rather just chill for an hour or so before I feel like seeing anyone. My job entails having people needing stuff from me constantly and solving problems all day. I know this forum isn't supposed to be about stuff like this, but I'm gonna ask you all anyway:

1. Do you hate having people drop by without calling, or am I just a recluse?

2. Do you all have houses which are always immaculate? Mine is frequently not. You could literally eat off my Mom's floors. She always folds clothes immediately and everything is always in place. And sterilized. Even her garage. Somehow I always think most people are like this, evidence to the contrary be damned, so I think I'm slacking.

Ok, now that therapy's over, may I say congratulations to all of us for recommitting and moving forward!!

WOW some great weight loss this week gals! Way to go! I started using Sculptique body firming creme and face firming creme on my loose skin, and I think I can tell a difference after just a week on my 'turkey neck' - too many chins before to even care! So I am sharing the link to my website by request.

1. I am with you in being a recluse. I am glad to know it isn't just me that doesn't like people dropping by. The lady who I bought my house from was notorious, along with her extended family, for dropping by all the time. I took me not letting them in the door for them to get the hint. :(

2. I have 5 dogs. My place is definitely not sterile. Okay, it is clean, but still lots of dog hair if I don't vacuum every day or every other day....which isn't easy with my schedule.

Sylvie: I agree with the others that your sticker should show all the hard work you have put in, congratulations!!

Echobaby: good on you!! you are so close to your 150!! keep up the good work.
Torchlaker: glad to hear that things have gotten back on track re: weight loss and good luck with the new vehicle. It takes a while to learn all these new fangled gadgets and high tech stuff!!!

My house is clean underneath everything, but very often somewhat untidy (things lying around that should be put away etc) but I can relate to people dropping in unannounced, hate it! Especially right after work!! I remember telling my daughter, when she was younger (a teenager) to not even talk to me until I had been in the house for 1/2 hour, so I would have time to de-stress after work, let alone have to amuse someone other than a family member!!! Maybe you can just not answer the door... and when you see her next time and she says she came to call that you must have been in the shower or something along those lines?

Keep up the good work everyone!!!

Yes, I think I'll have to employ the old, I must have been in the shower; on the treadmill with my ipod; or in the cellar routine. Nice to know I'm not alone in this. And that is exactly what my house is like. Clean underneath, sometimes untidy. Thanks.

I've been taking gymnema for a week or two, and I think it works. I was having a problem staying away from the bars before. I had never ordered them before about 3 weeks ago because I knew that would be the case. Yesterday, I brought a bar to work, in addition to other packs. I never even wanted it. Had the chicken soup instead. How come I never heard of Gymnema before?

echobaby,
My home is not always as clean as I would like it to be. I have 3really large dogs, I work a full time plus job, and I run a second business. I try to keep the main floor picked up becuase i do have people stop by unannounced all the time (pretty frustrating) because of my business. I have some great customers who love my product but sometimes it feels like I am a slave to them. It gets even harder because I don't get a chance to warn people of the dogs. However, there are some times it is pretty comical with my huge dogs because they stand as tall as some people.
Like I said I try to keep picked up but there are some area's of the house that I would hate for anyone to see. I think most of us are like that. It is ok if our houses are not perfect, we are not perfect.

You're right. I guess my whole thing starts with my Mom, who MUST have some mild form of OCD. She even scrubs her garage floor with bleach every week. :D And she's 82!!!!:dizzy:

torchlaker 02-11-2010 12:09 PM

Woohoo Echobaby -- I did just download the chart...hope it worked. I have been using half IP/half Lindora and it seems to be working.

OK (true confessions) -- My house is very cluttered and it is a big house. I start a project...don't finish it....start another....now I have both out....I try to keep ONE room uncluttered that I can escape to. I wonder if it is part of me that is rebelling!! My husband liked a CLEAN house and i worked hard at it....(along with great meals on the table, etc.)....My mom kept such an immaculate house that she never allowed me to have people over for fear they would "mess up her house." I don't seem to have enough energy to keep the house up.....so I do what I can. I really don't like when people stop over unannounced. When I first moved here....people did that all the time, but not since Eddie died. Actually, they rarely stop at all or call. I guess I should be upset -- but I am a recluse, too. I could pick up the phone and/or go visit people, but I don't. I always seem TOO busy (maybe a time management thing). Worst thing is -- I seem happy this way. My house is not dirty (I don't think....who can tell under all the clutter right now -- lol!). Anyways, starting sewing today....so I did pick up some last night to make room for the "newest" project. When I worked (police dispatcher) -- I needed time to unwind when I came home. I usually went into my bedroom or sat in the recliner...with no noise!! (police/fire radios are constant noise!) I am still that way.....I like NO noise (no radio - no t.v. --).

I also think people are afraid of my dog. She comes out very aggressive (altho I THINK she is a kittycat). Only my neighbor and handyman have taken the time for her to get to know them. She obviously was abused before I got her. But - since I live alone -- I wouldn't have it any other way. She has been my constant companion. I hate when I can't take her in the car (I just ordered a new fitted dog cover for the new car -- priorities first...my dog!!)

Turning off my computer until tonight!!!

torchlaker 02-11-2010 12:11 PM

Ohmygosh -- you must have been posting while I was writing.....The garage floor with bleach!! (hey -- does that work? My garage is full of oil from the oil leaks that my other car had. I keep throwing kitty litter on it until spring).

OK - REALLY shutting off the computer.
