That means I've lost a total of 4.75" in 17 days, and an average of 0.95" in each area.
That is awesome! My DH is away this week and I am hoping to make more progress myself,

Hello all. Welcome to our new friends! I have a RARE day off and have the house all to myself, so far done dishes, laundry, errands and the never ending paperwork, so much for being "off"! I have been having little gains, a pound one week, another pound the next, this has got to stop!! IE is not the problem, I AM THE PROBLEM!! Anyway just thought I would give a quick hello and hope all is well. Have a blessed day. Tammy

So good to see you again, Tammy. I guess we all struggle with those little gains and losses.

I tried intuitive eating a while back. I was at around 205~ and I only managed to nab off 10+ lbs several months later. It mostly consisted of a busy schedule though, and very little appetite in the morning, and the only meal I would have for that day was take-out (burger king, taco bell, shawarma, etc.) Other than that, 10-13 lbs was all I lost from it.

For that reason, I'm afraid to call it intuitive eating, because as someone overweight, I don't -know- how to intuitively eat in any way else other than the one I know. It's hard to eat in any other way and call it intuitive, because your body is torn between maintaining itself and maintaining your appetite. Take all this with a grain of salt, but I think intuitive eating is like a habit - it can be taught and practised - it's not something you know right off the bat. Because, let's face it. If we all did, wouldn't we all be slim and slender?

In any case, just my 2-cents. I wish everyone the best, and I hope you get to where you want to be!

Default Hello all.

Doing better with my eating. Another IE website had a person who posted that she counts bites of food, for her she started at 25 bites, but realized that she was full at 10, she uses a counter to keep track. So, today I took out 25 paper clips (as I was at work and don't have a counter) and it took 18 for me to get full and I was able to leave 3 bites of food on my plate! So just thought I would throw that out there. Have a blessed evening.

Hi Everyone! Welcome to new friends in IE! I'm still plugging along....have had a few slip ups, but generally doing OK. The slowness of the weight loss is getting to me though.

Do others have a problem with that? I keep getting thoughts of "if I were dieting or fasting I would have lost more by now." I try to think of IE as a way of life and not a program to lose weight, but still those thoughts creep in...
I gues it's all part of the process.

My daughter and I show horses, and in the horse show community there is a lot of pressure to be at a low weight. Doesn't help

Feeling a bit discouraged today I guess.

Yes, Blues, I know what you mean. I lost the first 40lb and can't seem to keep going but I haven't gained it back so I'm thankful.

I've been using a hypnosis and workbook from Paul McKenna who is basically using an IE approach - with a bit of self-confidence stuff thrown in . I listen to the hypnosis message probably 3 times a week, but should do more.

I've only been doing it two weeks, but have lost 4 pounds. (Don't look at my weight progress- I gained almost 15 pounds after starting Bikram yoga about 7 weeks ago..despite using an unguided IE approach) Even though I haven't technically lost any weight from when I started, I've gone down almost a dress size and people have been saying I've lost weight...I'm fitter and have more energy, too.

I've heard that one before. I prefer counting the number of chews, because it forces me to slow down and really savor. Ready-packaged meals that I thought of as slightly-filling snacks before are now perfectly acceptable as meals.

I feel as though the number of bites system is easier to abuse, since the difference between a nibble and mouthful can be subjective.

Having a pretty good day. Lost another pound (yay), so that helps. I am trying to not be focused on weight loss but it's hard.

I used to walk a couple of miles a day with my best friend and she was a great motivator, but she now can't due to health problems. I found I was lacking in motivation on my own (seriously lacking!) and started doing the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds on youtube but she keeps changing what's on so I just ordered the DVD recently. Can't wait to get it.

Looks like IE is fading out.

I'm still here.

The battery on my scale died yesterday, which is probably a good thing.

Still doing IE, have gotten the Leslie Sansone DVD and have added exercise to the equation. I don't think I'm going to weigh myself for awhile. I think I was becoming to addicted to what the scale said, and letting it dictate how I felt about myself on any given day.

Old habits die hard.

Yes, Carol, this board is moving slow lately.
