Hello everyone. Looks like everyone is doing great here! Congrats on the success.

I lost 1 lb since last week and am totally thrilled with that loss. I lost 2 lbs in Jan, total, but they kept coming and going. Now I am one pound lower than what I have seen in at least a few months. I think I have 7lbs to go before I hit my goal.

Just FYI for anyone it might help... I know that I have been talking about lifting/fasting and how to do it, etc. I took a brisk walk for 1½ on Sat in a fasted state- it was wonderful, very energetic and a good feeling. I have done this several times with more and more energy as time goes by (in the fasted state). I did my first weight lifting workout in a fasted state on Sun and it went really well. I was extremely energetic in the beginning and then faded a little by the middle/end, but over all, it was better than I expected.

I am finding that I am ravenous the day after a good strength training workout- I can't seem to fill up and I don't seem to make the fast for as long as I plan on. I have decided that I might try a boiled egg and a good portion of oatmeal for bkfast (in the am!) the day after a heavy wkout- I think my body needs it- otherwise I seem to overeat in the evening the day after instead.

Anyhoo----- Congrats on all the hard work!!

Finally, the Monday weigh-in! I'm 179.6 and met my second goal.

Keep up the good work, ladies. :)

Hi everyone. I recently started Eat Stop Eat. I've been doing low carb for about a year and primal since 1/1/12, and I decided to add ESE to my plan. I'm getting close to goal and I'm looking for something I can maintain with. I broke my second fast late this afternoon - my fast days are Friday and Monday. So far so good, but I'm eager to interact with people who are doing the same thing.

Moozie 02-07-2012 03:40 AM

Hi all,
sorry i didn't post yesterday but my internet was playing up.

my weigh in was a little disappointing BUT it has not dampened my spirits.
I stayed the same:(, and to be fair I have had lots of meals out. I lost 7lbs in the first 2 weeks, so I am happy to have kept it off. I often do that with weight loss- big drops followed by periods of staying the same.

well done everyone on the weight loss, every lb counts, but better than that everyone sounds like this way of eating is fitting into their lives.

I am happy to join in the weekly weigh in- i was only going to weigh every fortnight, but I think for a little while weekly may be a good idea, till i work out what works best.
I will continue with the ESE for now and if my weight doesn't shift, i may combine the Fast 5 like many of you do.

am fasting today, and am at home alone- so will do lots of housework to keep busy!.
then later this afternoon we are all off to the photo studio to have some family portraits done, as part of my birthday pressie- hopefully i can be airbrushed to perfection.

good luck, talk soon.:)

You girls are all doing so well!

Next weigh in on 13 Feb?

kellyb - that has been my experience with fasted state training too, getting a wee bit more tired towars the end, but felt great anyway! I used to run with a full stomach first thing! Never again! I am going to try squatting at home with lower weights as I await my vein operation. I didnt do the gym this week and only walked a bit fasted, an it felt really good!

Mdoc - welcome to the forum! We are growing in numbers! Seems to be getting popular now!

Violet73 02-07-2012 07:28 AM

Hey guys! Gamesmaster mentioned this thread to me. I was in the IF thread and will still go there and join up here if you guys don't mind ;)

I do 24 hour fasts every day and only eat in the evenings. I just started again last week and I'm already down 3 pounds :carrot: so far, I have more energy and I'm even sleeping better! I also battle RA and fibro and I think it's helping with my daily pain. This is a great WOE! :)

Italiannie 02-07-2012 07:35 AM

I'm all for a weekly weigh-in. Let's keep up with the Mondays.

Kellyb and Everyone - There is definitely a "lightness" that comes with ESE. I find that during the day there is a spring in my step and a sharpness to my thinking. How can this not be good for us? The only other program that I consistently lost weight on was WW. While the weight loss was consistent, I never felt light and energized. I really think it's was that constant digesting of food. (I also don't miss watching everything I ate, counting, measuring, etc. - way too much work). I don't want anyone to think I'm critical of WW. I think it's one of the best conventional programs out there - I'm just done with all of that kind of stuff.

Moozie - 7 lbs in two weeks is fabulous!

It's so funny, we all know that 1-2lbs a week is a wonderful and healthy pace to lose weight - for other people LOL. It's hard to get used to that when you've had a good loss the first couple of weeks.

mdoc - Welcome aboard! You'll find some of us doing ESE, some of us doing Fast-5, some of us doing both, and some of us designing our own IF things.
That's the beauty of IF.

I agree with all of this!!!! That's exactly how I feel! More alert, less weighted down and soooooo glad to not have to measure carbs, calories, or points ;)

mdoc 02-07-2012 09:17 AM

So how does the weekly weigh in work? Do we report on this thread, or is there someplace else? I'm still finding my way around here. Are there any other areas on 3FC that I should familiarize myself with?

wvuchick 02-07-2012 10:30 AM

new girl too

Hi, I like Violet was on the IF support group board and gamesmaster mentioned this forum. So I thought I'd post here too. I started ESE on thursday. Monday and Thursday are my fasting days.

I am in a WL competition at work and Tuesday is our weigh in day. So I will report in on Tuesdays, if that is ok.

I lost 2.2 lbs my first week doing ESE.

I've been "dieting" since July I have lost 34 lbs in total. But that was mostly in the first few months. I'm going to stick to ESE for a while, if I stall, I will combine with fast 5 too.

Can't wait to get to know everyone.

Italiannie 02-07-2012 11:16 AM

Hi Newbies and Welcome aboard!

We're very casual here.

mdoc - We can just report our weigh-ins here, sometime on Mondays - completely optional - for encouragement and inspiration and a little accountability.

You can put in your starting weight, your current and your goal (short or long term) or just the weight lost or gained that week, or whatever you want to do. Everyone is different in how they like to track their progress.

Remember, not all goals have to be attached to the scale.

esmi134 02-07-2012 12:22 PM

Happy Tuesday!!

Hello, its nice to see that there are more people joining us on this journey.
Welcome mdoc, Violet and wvuchick!!!!

Feb 13th next weigh in, sounds good to me.

Yesterday, I felt very light headed during my fast before my eating window, it was different than the days before, weird,,but today I feel sooo good. My mood is even better and I walk around with an extra hop in my step :).

wvuchick, if you dont mind me asking, how exactly did you lose all that weight? Congrats btw

wvuchick 02-07-2012 01:41 PM

Hi esmi,
Thanks. I really just counted calories. I tried to stay around 1500 or so. Exercised a little bit, but not as much as I should have. I still have a lot to go!! But I'm on my way at least. ;)

kelleyb 02-07-2012 01:49 PM

Yes, I can't believe my moods- they are fine! As soon as I my body got used to using its own fuel then it felt like I stopped with the blood sugar highs and lows. I used to be horrible if I was just a little past lunch or dinner.

I have had headaches yesterday and today- don't know if it is b/c of the fasting or not? I have not had that in a few weeks, mainly only the first day.

Moozie- staying the same is probably just FINE! Your body is catching up. Sometimes those weeks when you stay the same, your measurements start to change.

Gamemaster1- don't do too much before your operation! You don't want to make those surgeons work harder!! I know how it is though- if you are used to exercising, then it is really HARD to stop or even slow down.

Italiannie- I believe that WW is good too, for sure. However, it is constant eating and I am always hungry on it. Plus by evening, there are hardly any points left for dinner!! That is a struggle to me.

Sapphiregirl- congrats on your second goal.

Hello newbies! I have only been here a week or 10 days, but what the heck.

I did pretty well yesterday. Ate between 12pm and 7pm. A little longer than I should have but I worked out hard Sun and Mon evening. Today was good, 2 meals, one at 2pm and the other at 6pm. That's it for me today. I might go with bkfast, lunch and dinner tomorrow to see if my headache feels better and then have a short eating window on thurs.

Keep up the good work.

I asked a question on the last page- maybe it was missed... Any thoughts about sugarless chewing gum?? Do you chew it while fasting?? Just wonder if it gets your digestive juices flowing... and calorie-wise, almost 0 ??
