Paintedbutterfly - I think the same thing happened to me. I'm up a few pounds from yesterday. Thought I had everything under control, but I ate too many salty things. First time I've really been up on the scale since I started IF in December.
My plan is to pump tons of water today, eat very lightly and just go back to my regular IF schedule. It's important that we don't get sidetracked by little setbacks, as discouraging as they are. I'm trying to remember that a few months down the road, this setback won't have been that important. Let's encourage each other to keep going! |
Hello guys! Hope all is well today too. Fine here.
Italiannie- thanks! I hope I am creating a calorie deficit. It feels like I am b/c I am eating way less than usual- except fri and sat. I have splurged a little too much, I guess. I need to fix that. This is so free and wonderfully different that I really want to fine-tune it and see if it is for me. YOur sounds wonderful! We are having a good one tonight too. Gamemaster1- I felt like you and I had plenty in common when I read your post. Not too much weight to lose, but those 10-12 lbs are still HERE! I work out a lot too, finish other people's food and overeat sometimes. Ha ha. Moozie- I have worked nights for 5 years and just switched to days. Not sure what I think about working during the day after nights for over 5 years! I took this job for 6 months, so I might switch back to nights. I am not sure it you wrote about having gas or not from this eating- but if you did, I will say that I have had lots of gas while eating like this- not sure why. Lots of veggies, but that is normal for me. Paintedbutterfly- sorry about the gain- try not to let it get you down (I know it is hard!). If you eat light for a few days, then it will probably come right off. Hello to everyone else! Gotta cut it short- company is coming in 10 min and my hair is still wet. I live in Sweden (am American) and am 42. 2 kids almost grown and my Swedish hubby. |
Thanks for the encouragment guys! It helps to know I'm not the only one that's been through that too!
Well the scale actually decreased through the day which is weird lol down to 147.7lbs now.. hopefully it'll keep going down! I was looking forward to a significant loss by the end of Jan and it'll suck if this ruins it! |
hi all,
and welcome to all you newbies ( though im quite new myself!) its my birthday today- 47 years young, and i have had a fab weekend with my family. we all went out last night to a new Thai restaurant and had a Thai banquet. it was delicious and lets just say that i was more than satisfied! as there were so many of us we had lots of different dishes to try. best thing is that because its an eating weekend, i dont feel at all naughty. no guilt attached, which in the past has been such a diet killer for me. yes i have eaten more than i would normally and yes I still have birthday cake to come, but tomorrow i will be fasting. I'm actually looking forward to it- for one thing i dont have to worry about making a packed lunch and i kinda enjoy the empty feeling. probably just as well I'm not weighing till 6th feb!. keep up the good work ladies. and hanks to everyone for chipping in. its good to know we all have similar problems to face, but we are doing it together. :) ps, im sure you'll all be glad to know that the wind has calmed down now and my family are enjoying calmer times! :dizzy: it was def the night duty. |
Okay..... went on a sunday lunch-a-thon yesterday! Waffles and icecream etc.
Back on track today but only managed a 20 hr fast today (making lunch for the kids and i had to nibble of course). I wasn't even hungry, just out of habit! Still on course for the weight in next week. I feel like Im back at weight watchers with this looming weigh in, but on a positive side, this is the longest I've gone without weighing myself (normal weigh every morning), which was a tad ritualistic, so all's good:) |

thanks Gamesmaster,
the Thai was delicious. and was spolit rotten by my hubby and kids. well done for not jumping on the scales, only a week to go! also back to my fast today, and was quite relieved to do so, as i was feeling really stuffed- a feeling I've not had since xmas. but its been harder than usual- not because im hungry, but because I've felt a bit nauseas, maybe coming down with something. I'm also hoping to get my electronic signature soon, as i want to add a ticker- its been 3 weeks since i joined, so hope it wont be too long now. Onward and downward:) |
Hi Everyone! Had a rough couple of days with eating. I've maintained my eating window, but have had a few too many carbs. I was back on track yesterday and will keep going. I do hold weight when I eat too many of those carbs. I think they act like a sponge in my system.
Moozie - Glad you had good Thai. Gamesmaster - Sunday lunch-a-thon sounds yummy! Doesn't it feel good to get back on track after a bit of indulgence? I think that's one of the bonuses of Intermittent Fasting - you gain control so quickly once you get back to it. I want to do a 24 hour fast again this week. Probably Fri night until Sat dinner. I haven't updated my blog in a couple of weeks, so I want to do that sometime today or tomorrow. (I'm replacing food with 3FC!) Oh well, it's a healthier option - especially during the winter when I'm not outside as much. Hang in there, everyone! |
Moozie- Happy Birthday! Glad you had a good one!! The food sounds delish. I would have probably been stuffed too.
Italiannie- Carbs are like a sponge to my system too, for sure. Gamemaster1- Sunday brunch sounds great. Sounds like we all have an EATING weekend! Now is the time to support each other. I can speak for myself and say that I ate too much Fri, Sat and Sun! I have got to do better with that. I don't even know why it happened, really. We did have company Sun evening for dinner which is not usual for us- we usually have company on Fri or Sat if we are going to have people over. I have done really well with eating during the weeks, just not weekends. Maybe it is b/c my body is starving- I don't know. I went for about 20 -21 hours without eating from Sun after dinner to Monday after 5 pm. It felt really good. Today I ate 4 times and am hungry again (it is almost 10 pm my time) but I will not eat again today. Haven't decided exactly how I'm going to do tomorrow. I'll probably try to fast until around 3 pm or so, then fruit and pb & j before spinning in the evening. Sometimes it is a challenge at work b/c my work friends eat lunch together and I don't always know what to say- plus it is a little lonely to not eat with your friends. Have a great day, everyone! |
I'm doing a 24 hour fast today to try and kick start my weight loss again! I'm still doing couch to 5 K but not doing fasts on the same days I'm running although I do go for a walk everyday.

Hi all!
Monday I managed a 20 hour fast (broke the fast at 1pm) instead of dinner time! Tuesday I did similar type thing. Today (wed) I did a 19 hour fast (broke the fast at 1pm). Tomorrow I'm going to attempt the 24 hour fast (so fasting from 6pm tonight until dinner - 6pm tomorrow!) I'm finding it okay to skip breakfast, but come lunch time I am craving some food this week, when last week this wasn't a problem? Maybe the initial novelty of the diet has warn off or my calories are too low? However, my initial thought on the 'eat stop eat' plan was to do this for 3 days a week. Now I know that is too much for me, so I'm going to try 'eat stop eat' one/two days a week along with Fast-Five for the remaining days! I guess it is just trial and error, however, I do love the fasting bit too as it does feel like I am giing my body a 'break' from processing food, which can only be a good thing!!!:carrot: |
hi all,
everyone seems back on track after some trial and error! personally i feel so much better today having got over my overeating last w/e (not that i regret it). did a 24 hr fast Monday, then didn't feel great yesterday and today so missed lunch and then made myself eat some tea. its funny but Im more frightened of under-eating than over-eating- thats a new one on me!! i so want to be able to maintain this without my metabolism coming to a standstill, which is why ESE appealed to me so much. anyway, enough of me. Italiannie, yes getting control does seem much easier- and i look forward to it too. one fast and your back again. will be checking out your blog too, its good therapy isnt it! Gamesmaster, Im glad your going to do 2 fasts a week. but will be interested how you get on combining the 2. Itallianne does that too. I may look at it when im much closer to goal, which is a long way off yet. I havent tried fast5 at all, but then im so happy doing ESE at the moment i dont need to. long may it last painted butterfly, i do admire you. i cant even run down the road, let alone 5k. wel done or getting back on track, i know it cant be easy. Hi Kelleyb, I ve got a diary that is just for my fasting. i plan at the beginning of the week, when im going to fast- start and finish times etc. i put in all my work( i do shifts) then all my social events, meals out etc first. that way i can see which days are going to work best. i write everything in pencil, and then when i do start my fast i put it in pen, same goes for the finish time. so far i have only changed a finish time once and it has freed me from having to put much thought into it at the last minute. good luck sapphiregirl, ellay42,mamac412,mellyme123 are you ok? have a good week ladies :) |
Happy Belated Birthday, Moozie!
I've come down with a pretty bad cold, so no fasting for me this week. I'm still finding it really, really hard not to jump on the scale. Monday can not get here fast enough. Hope all of you are doing well and keep up the good work! |
Hi all... I start my 2nd week (2nd fast) tomorrow evening. I must say I was happy that my 1st fast this week went tons better than the first weeks.:carrot: i was busy running errands and hardly noticed the hours pass. I stayed well hydrated and by dinner I was still doing well. I'm kinda excited to see if my next fast will go as well.
Hi sapphiregirl! I love your pic of the bluebonnets...and your name is great! I love me some sapphires! Hope you get to feeling better. |
yey,
i've got my electronic signature. this is just a test to see if its working!:carrot: |
