Hello!

I thought about reading JK Rowling's Casual Vacancy but got scared off by the reviews. If it turns out I agree with the critics then it would taint her other books for me. (I had this happen with another beloved author and am not going to take the chance - weird but there it is.)

Am reading Mad River by John Sandford.

Finished An Idiot's Guide to World War 1 - research for my project of transcribing all my Grandfather's letters home from WW1. Stunning and to think they did it all again in about 20 years. Making them into a booklet for the great grandchildren.

Next up - How Children Succeed by Paul Tough

Saw Zoo in the library a week ago; read a few chapters and put it down. Not for me.

Just saw it in the library again today; read a few more chapters; can't put it down. Oh Well - there goes my weekend, LOL.

(I got it immediately in person even though there are 234 holds on the 114 available copies.)

After my first Patterson, I refuse to read more. I don't remember the title, but it was about a girl who had an "immaculate conception." Really?

Currenty reading Bald in the Land of Big Hair-- a memoir of someone fighting lymphoma.

Previous to that I read Don't let Me Go by the author that gave us Pay It Forward. A book that brings people together despite their differences.

I am reading A History of the Scottish People by TC Smout. I am working on my family history, and my family comes from Scotland.

I am also re-reading all my diet books. I guess you would call it inspirational reading. LOL.

I am listening to Trickster's Point, by William Kent Kruger and performed by David Chandler. This is a mystery series with a native American slant to it. I am listening to it while I walk. I have to discipline myself to leave it alone except for walking.

SerenityDiva: I am enjoying it so far!! Not read too much of it yet, but it seems to really tap into my eating habits. I'll keep you updated!

Froggydawgy: I am avoiding the Casual Vacancy for the same reasons!! I'm so nervous that it will be rubbish!!

imnotperfect24: Cool!! I prefer the books to the film, as I actually found the film to be quite slow paced in places, which works fine in the books, but less so in the film! That's probably just me though!! I LOVE Jennifer Lawrence so that helps!

Thanks! I have a lot on my Kindle, but I'm finding if something doesn't grab me I just move to the next LOL. I did like the part I downloaded, but honestly I think I'm too chicken to do the work.

You lucked out at the library! This was a good read, but not one of my favorites of his. Interesting premise though.

I am currently reading Doc by Mary Doria Russell, Crimes by Moonlight by assorted authors and getting ready to start The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan. My husband gets mad because I can read 5 books at a time and keep all the stories straight, lol.

I LOVE Frank Peretti - did you read "The Oath" ? Long but good!
