Fried Oreos are made with the soft Oreos so the texture is different. They're covered in powdered sugar and I find the taste to be almost instantly sickening with an unpleasant sugar rush, similar to fried cookie dough balls.

How have you never had a churro, pixellate?!?!?!?!? You live in NYC!

I love asparagus! It's very hard to describe the taste though. Try it steamed or maybe roasted with a bit of olive oil and garlic.

Thanks pixellate and Tai. I'll give asparagus a try.

As for Taco Bell, I used to get the bean and cheese burrito (99 cents) but I seem to have lost my craving for them. I never get anything with beef in it from there. It just tastes somewhat... off.

Asparagus is a delicious vegetable! If you're in the US, buy some NOW: we're at the end of its season.

Try this: Firstly, you have to snap the ends off the asparagus. Just bend it in half and let it snap where it wants. (The older it is, the more stem you will lose.) Mince garlic. Toss the asparagus and the garlic in a bowl together with olive oil and salt (my man likes to add a little butter as well). Roast in the oven at a highish temp OR (better) throw it on the grill. You don't want to overcook it, but you want to see dark, carmelized spots on each of the spears.

DEVOUR!

(And expect your pee to smell funny later. Funny smelling pee is the asparagus tax!)

asparagus: I love it! I like it pencil thin. Not hunky. And I just lightly stir fry it after breaking it into chunks. It can taste sweet -- like peas taste sweet when really fresh. It's a hard taste to describe. I dislike it canned -- it ruins it for me. Fresh only for me.

butternut squash -- it's related in taste to carrot and sweet potato kinda mixed up together. I roast it.

A.

Butternut squash has about the same taste and consistency as the pumpkin in pumpkin pie. It's also kind of similar to sweet potato, although wetter and less starchy.

Nutella is the

I love that stuff. However, I have found that I have absolutely NO craving for anything "unhealthy" as long as I stay on my meal plan. Hmmm

Asparagus is actually really good. I like to bake mine in the oven on 400...check them for tenderness. I season them with lemon, garlic & onion power. I try to stay away from salts.

I guess you could compare it to a crisp tender cooked zucchini.

Not sure about butternut squash cooked healthful, but with butter and cinnamon and sugar = heaven!

I've always wanted to try a fried twinkie & fried snickers. Just one small bite.

I love Hiccama - it has a carrot/potato texture and the taste...closer to potato, but more starchy...I think. It's been a while since I've had some.

Jicama is earthy and crunchy. It's nice to put in salads!

Rutabagas taste very similar to turnips--perhaps slightly more bitter. They're not my favorite.

SAME! Oreos (esp the soft kind) and twinkies were never tasty enough for me to eat regularly, so the fried versions are not really worth a calorie "splurge" but it is novel enough for me to be curious. But I am trying to pinch every penny to pay rent/bills/laundry, and the stands and restaurants by me sell em for quite pricey, esp considering that I really only want a nibble. I tell myself every penny saved goes to my goal wardrobe haha. Not too curious about veggies cause even if idk what it is, I buy and try anyways cause I tend to finish em, unlike a fried twinkie.

hahah krampus, there's actually a churro stand in the train platform I go to on the way home from work. I also must admit - I didn't try a burrito till the summer right after I graduated high school!

Anyone know what rainbow chard tastes like? For some reason it looks like it would taste like a sour fruit to me.

Or what about dragon fruit? I heard that its not all that great-that its more pretty than anything else. Here's a pic

Kale tastes like leafy, spicy broccoli to me! Super good juiced to add a spicy kick to your veggie juice!
