i agree on the studio ghibli movies. they are all great, though i think your kids might be a little too young for princess monanoke.
when i was little it was Petes Dragon, Neverending Story, and oh my how I loooved an American Tale. I think i watched it every day for a while.
i think my parents were tired out by the time my little brother came along because his watch every day movie was Roger Rabbit and by the time he was about 8 he knew ALL the words to Rocky Horror Picture Show. haha.
Am I too old (53) for my childhood faves to count? Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
No way!! I'm about 30 years younger than you and Mary Poppins & Chitty Chitty Bang Bang are my favs!! Along with Sound of Music, My Neighbor Totoro and I LOVED Shirley Temple!!
Any of the live action Disney movies. Darby O'gil and the little people. The gnome moble, the herby movies. Ghostbusters, The princess bride, The sand lot, The Monster Squad. I could go on and on.
An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. I loved cowboys and I loved the original American Tale so this one was perfect.
Land Before Time
Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest
Samson and Sally: Song of the Whales (weird animated Danish movie about Moby Dick, you can find the whole thing on YouTube)

I love those movies. I actually just purchased An American Tail, one and two at walmart for 7 dollars
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was probably my favorite, seems like they showed it around Thanksgiving a lot and it was a big deal as this was not just before video but before things like HBO and Showtime.
I also remembering really like The Music Man, Singin in the Rain and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and as it turned out, my kids did too.
They are ages 14 and 19 but probably one of their favorites as kids was 101 Dalmations (animated one) and The Emperer's New Groove, one of the funniest Disney movies of all time. They really loved the WInnie the Pooh movies too, the originals I mean.
When my daughter was very young, she loved the Sillyville Movies. When she was a little older, she liked Matilda, Milo and Otis, The Goofy Movie, The Land Before Time, Fievel Goes West, and most of the Disney movies.
I love almost all the OLD(old as in13 years ago lol) movies lol <3 Ferngully, My Neighbor Totoro, Anastasia, kiki's delivery service, all the land before time movies, fievel goes west, screct of nimh! lol I think I could go on and on with movies
The Goonies, The Sandlot, Little Giants, Angels in the Outfield (I <3 Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Ferngully, The Princess Bride, Now & Then, Rookie of the Year, Mary Poppins, A Little Princess (95 version), The Secret Garden (93 version), Casper (with Devon Sawa & Christina Ricci), Homeward Bound (93 version...although, I can never ever watch this movie ever again, lol!!), Fly Away Home, Free Willy, The Worst Witch (86 version), Hocus Pocus, Harriet The Spy, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Beauty & The Beast, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, The Aristocats, The Jungle Book, Fantasia, Peter Pan..etc..
Oh..and I LOVED the 1965 version of Cinderella. Lesley Ann Warren was Cinderalla, Ginger Rogers was the Queen. Ah ya..I used to check it from the library, lol!! I used to check out the 1987 Snow White too.
I had a great childhood, lol!!

THRILLED to see all of the Last Unicorn fans representing in this thread! *grins*
My list was ridiculously long, but I've shortened it here to movies that actually meant something or left a mark on me. Of course, not all of them are listed, but...meh. Whatever. *smiles*
The Last Unicorn
Wizards
...pretty much anything Jim Henson was involved with.
The Neverending Story
Tron
Ghostbusters
Girl of the Limberlost
...come to think of it, I would still watch any of these right now.
The Princess Bride
The Parent Trap (Hayley Mills)
Back to the Future movies
One movie I think would be great for kids (mind you, I don't have any yet) is Microcosmos. The first few minutes might be kind of boring for them, but then they could see stuff like up-close bugs fighting to an exciting soundtrack! I've seen this movie several times and it each time I remember thinking that it'd be so neat for kids.
