Operator-- It is pretty here but you can't eat the mountains! My Hubby was terminated from his job back in April (it will be 2 years in April) after he had been at the company for 18 years. I think they thought he was to close to retirement (which he turned 62 in December) and they could hire younger people for less money. He was in the building business and was drawing plans for contractors. So we decided to use the vacation he had coming and go to MO. to visit my family and then on to PA to visit his family. After being gone a month we came home and put our house up for sale (1 1/2 years ago in April) and decided to move back to MO. where my family all live and it would be a much lower altitude which would be better for DH anyway.
WOW!! My Dad is 89 and I really want to have some good times with him and the family while I can. Guess I kind of went off on a ramble ---- but now you know why we are wanting to move to MO.

RUTH my dear wife cut the end of her finger off a couple of years back, we had just purchased some Cutko knives from a friend of ours, anyway I was out of town and called the house....son tells me she went to emergency because she cut her finger. I'm like OMGoodness! How bad...son just says...dad...it's Angie....I was relieved then ;) When she called me that night she went on and on about it....(dad...it's Angie)....a few days later I saw the injury....(dad...it's Angie)....I'd like to say that I get cuts way worse than that at least once a week....we wrap it in masking tape (duct tape if it should get stitches...we aren't STUPID!) and keep on truckin'. Now I know yours was worthy of sympathy....so many :hug: to you :)

Just got back from a long day out in the cold field testing my new base layer. I was warm, warm, warm. Let's hear it for paying too much for long johns.

For tolerating the cold and strong wind, I was rewarded by getting to see my first ever White-winged Crossbill, a bird that lives happily up in the Canadian Boreal forests, but has come down to the East coast in great number this winter for us to admire. Apparently something in Canada annoyed it this year so it's come looking for more food. Thanks to all our Canadian friends for sending it this way.

The top and bottom of its bill doesn't match, hence its name, which looks like a mistake, but works to pull seeds out of pine cones.
