visited a family for two weeks that had running water but no water heater.

I lived in a cabin in Alaska for 8 months with no electricty, running water, etc. I loved it and it was def. an experience, but I can't say I'd want to do it again. For one thing, I'm a whole lot older now and I like my little luxuries!

I would never have survived as a pioneer women. Bring on the indoor plumbing and running water preferably with a hot water heater.

Geesh, as often as I get up to wee-wee during the night, I'd have to just pitch a tent next to the outhouse. Yeah indoor plumbing!

Electricity's not bad either. I really appreciate electricity when Hurricanes roll through areas and people are out for long periods of time. Charley & Francis saw people in this area who I work with without elec. for 2-3 weeks. They actually looked forward to coming to work for air conditioning. Fortunately our power was only out for 13 hours. However, when our power goes out, our local tiny water company's power goes out also. So our water stops too.

My mom had a outhouse until 74 and she hated the snakes that would occasionally slither up from the hole and out over the seat!

A/C is still the best...
i lived in florida for one summer (3 months of h*ll) in a small metal roofed trailer.
NO air conditioning.
we did have power and plumbing.
i would have traded the plumbing for air.
never never never again.

Oh, thanks for the mental image I almost had recovered from. Now I'd rather pee on the ground in front of a concert crowd than go in an outhouse. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!

OMG - you must have A/C if you're going to live in Florida. I can understand trading plumbing for air.
This week I can feel fall in the air. It's 68 degrees out at 3 am. It feels cool in the mornings when I head to work.

I got locked out of my sis's house in Houston once. I was 3 mths PG and it was June. I'll toss my vote in with Mrs. Dorson and WebRover when down south. But I'm still grateful for manufactured TP and feminine supplies.

And I'm old enough to appreciate the adhesive strips on feminine supplies.
