The first Patterson I read I absolutely hated. I thought I'd never read another. It wasn't that the book was bad, I just didn't like the story line. Anyway, someone gave me 4th of July and I read it recently and really enjoyed it. I don't know if it was because I liked the author he was collaborating with or not.
I had said that I had picked up 4 books at Barnes and Noble, but couldn't remember what that 4th one was: Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin. It's an Oprah book club book and those usually are pretty good reads. That one that's a true story is called The Birthday Party by Stanley Alpert. I think it will be my next book as soon as I get through Hannibal Rising (should finish tonight).
