What Are You Reading?
Ideas, suggestions on what's good to read.
I just finished "Cross" by James Patterson. A good read. I like this series of books. |
I'm just reading The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. It's a great book. I just finished A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry. Another great read!
|
...
I'm reading James Patterson too. "The Beach House" and I'm also in the middle of "Mary, Mary".
|
Two of my very favorite books of all time are:
Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt and Kane & Abel by Jeffrey Archer. They've been out for years, but are MUST reads. I recommend them HIGHLY. |
I'm reading 3 books right now, kind of. One is a ghost story book, the other is Stephen King's 5th book in the darktower series and the last one is the millionaire next door.

I've started "Holy blood Holy Grail" by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, Henry Lincoln. I'm also halfway thru my 20+ reading of "The Witching Hour" by Anne Rice. I love that book. Oh and I just got "Girl, Interrupted" by Susanna Kaysen. I recently saw the movie and wanted to read the book. |
I am reading "The Nasty Bits" by Anthony Bourdain - gotta love his books, even if they do tend to scare you off of restaurants, especially Kitchen Confidential (ick!).
|
I am reading "All He Ever Wanted" by Anita Shreve and I can barely put it down. It is a historical novel (set in the 1900's) and the characters are really well drawn. The narrator is a college professor who falls in love with a woman and marries her; and continues to be obsessed with her and gaining her love. (I am in a part right now that makes me cringe for the narrator.)
I've been meaning to pick up the "The Memory Keeper's Daughter"...that sounds like a terrific book. Oh, also am reading: "Skinny *****" by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. The book is hysterical! |
Angie here-
Just finished The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd Great story - would definitely recommend it. |
I just finished reading Love is a Mix Tape, I absolutely loved it. It made me laugh and cry and was full of nostalgic music from the 90s.
|
Working my way through the Riddle Master Trilogy by Patricia McKillip. I really don't think I'd recommend it though, it's older and it's just a slow and very predictable book.
I can recommend "The Family Tree" by Carole Cadwalladr and "The Dogs of Babel" by Carolyn Parkhurst for good short weekend reads. I also recently read "The Forseeable Future" by Alice Hoffman, which was interesting but definitely a girlie movie. I am a voracious reader though... I made a resolution about 3 or 4 years ago to always be reading something, and so far so good! |
Hubby just finished the Dark Tower Concordance and is patiently awaiting his turn to read the newly discovered Heinlein outline that Spider Robinson completed..."Variable Star". I just have three more chapters to complete. ;) After that I'm at a loss. Steve's not putting out his usual works these days. His new writing style...not my style. Yuck. And Koontz isn't keeping up with me. Just finished the latest "Brother Odd" in the Odd Thomas trilogy. So tried a John Saul "The Homing"...yuck yuck, triple yuck.

I didnt care for "The Homing" either.
