And, if I'm not mistaken, they have a baseball team "up there" also; you might try to get tickets.

Sunday - still raining one and off, but we need it so it's appreciated.
Went to see Midnight in Paris.

It would take every bit of intestinal fortitude that Gary has to ever admit that The San Francisco Giants won the World Series.
San Francisco.......oh yeah ....San Francisco is in Northern California.

True story ~ this afternoon Angie and I were walking off some lunch and wine here in the downtown area of our hotel. We walked into a Thomas Kinkade gallery, while looking at some baseball ones he has done that I have never seen before, the gal comes up and says...."Oh, we have a Giants one in the back I could bring out for you".....

I will keep my comment back to her to myself....;)

Gary, Are you sure you want to hang around Downieville ? I understand only one woman has been hanged in California, and that happened in Downieville.

Ruthxxx 06-29-2011 06:54 AM

California is a scary place, right? So far I've hesitated to visit. If I ever do, I'll make sure Downieville is not on the itinerary.

You are probably safe if you don't murder anyone.

BillBlueEyes 06-29-2011 08:06 AM

You'll be fine. California is actually very accepting of women with attitude.

Boston, on the other hand, has a dark history around that. A few centuries ago it seems local authorities agreed not to hang Mary Dyer provided that she leave town and stop saying that individuals had as much right to interpret scripture as Bishops.

She left. She came back. She kept saying. She was hung.

Apparently they used a refined definition of "religious freedom."

Back in 1851 in Downieville , Ca a young woman by the name of Juanita was found guilty of murder , convicted and hung the same day it happened , she was hung from a beam over the Yuba River.

If this thread doesn't show more signs of life, there will be a hanging in here!

BillBlueEyes 06-30-2011 03:22 PM

358 . . .

. . . 2 more to go until 360.

What is the proper attire to wear to a hanging, that is if one is not the guest of honor ?

Ruthxxx 07-01-2011 05:37 AM

I'd imagine one would wear the same attire as one would wear as guest of honour at a beheading.
Wills and Kate are in Canada now. I'll ask as their family has had experience in this field.
