How I wish my kids went to school later. My DD has a "zero period" class in high school (so she can fit in extra credits). She starts at 7:00 AM. School gets out at 2:45, but she stays until 5:00 because of all her different music classes. Only Friday does she get out at the normal time. My DS is in school from 8:15 to 2:35, except Wednesdays when they get out at 1:30???? I haven't quite figured that one out yet--they didn't go over it at orientation. So, I'm up at 4:40 AM, that gives me time to read the paper, then I drive with my DD to school (she just has her learner's permit) and then I drive home (round trip = 1 hour) and pick up my DS and drop him off and I'm at work by 8:00. I work until 2:35, pick up DS, bring him to work for an hour, then it's off to his karate class, then I leave him there and go pick up the DD. I'm lucky to be home by 6:30. Then it's chores and getting dinner ready. See why I don't have time for exercise? All I seem to fit in is my weekly 4+ miles with my DH, which we haven't done much of this summer due to the heat and humidity. I'm in a funk--I'd really like to exercise more, but this desk keeps holding me down!

oh man, i remember high school. i had to go from 7:56-3:04. im not kidding. it was on the dot. it was really horrid (but when i started driving my friends and i took 'whatever' classes in the afternoons and just left early to beat traffic and get pie. we were bad.)

i have my weigh-in tonight with my parents in about an hour. i think i lost weight, i've been parking farther and farther from work and school, and walking around campus more than necessary as part of my exercise. i'll let you all know how it goes tonight!

2F-some advice about florists....go to a really expensive one and pick their brains and look at their books and write everything down. Then go to a local florist and ask for the same stuff-I saved over 60% of the cost.

Alinnell-early Wednesdays sounds like schools here in Japan!

I blew my points tonight and ate pizza. It was thin crust but I`m sure I didn`t do myself any favors by eating it. I`ll have to work out tomorrow even though I`m still of feeling exhausted.

Hi girls. I've had a 3 pound gain since last week: one is definitely from eating close to 3500 extra calories for a week, but the other two are up for educated thoughts. I weigh myself every day (sometimes more) and I've really learned a lot about my body and its weight fluctuations - and I'm okay with it. Earlier this week I needed an injection for poison ivy and then was given some Methylprednisolone for the week. One of the side effects is weight gain, so my assumption is that this is where the 2# have snuck up on me. I will continue to take the meds, but will eat very clean for at least the next week to see if I can work all 3# off. I'm also going to increase my H2O to possibly flush out any extra fluid that's hanging around due to the meds.
If I hadn't been journaling and scale watching I think I would be freaking out right now, so this proves the same point that once I begin maintenance the same tools will have to be used for at least awhile anyway (if not forever).

Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend.

I'm leaving my ticker alone until after next week's weigh in, but my weight is currently 125 after being 122 last Friday.

Having second thoughts about florists - thinking going to Tesco (Wal-Mart-ish) and buying some posh flowers and just hand-tieing them. Who knows!?

Well I'm ecstatic to report that I've been a good girl all week and have been rewarded with a 5 lbs loss. It feels soooo good to be back in control.

Have a good weekend everyone!!

I think the meds are definitely suspect. I've been using one of those body-fat scale thingies for the last year--it tells my weight, body fat %, and water %--and I've seen that drugs definitely make a difference. For instance, if I take ibuprophen or any kind of anti-inflamatory, my water % goes up and I gain a couple of pounds the next day. Certain antihistamines make the water % go down, which makes me look good on the scale the next morning. The effect goes away as soon as I quit taking the offending drug. Maybe you can flush your system as you say and get back to normal. If not, it will probably go away as soon as you quit taking the stuff.

Hi Ladies!

Your group sounds like something I need right now. You are all so close to your goal and still very motivated. I like that! Keep up the great work.

As for me, my name is Dena. I had lost 45 lbs., from 177 to 132. Then because of a serious illness, I gained a lot of it back. In February I joined an exercise circuit called Ladies Workout Express and worked hard at losing the weight and am now 20 lbs. from my goal. Here I sit at 152 and would love to get down to 132 again. Unfortunately, 1 1/2 weeks ago I stupidly fell and hurt my knees,so I have to cool it with exercising for a while. Suddenly I saw myself eating out of control again. I think I was mad at myself for falling and ruining the possibility of losing more weight. Does that even make sense? I couldn't walk, but somehow I could hobble to the refrigerator. LOL

I would love to join your group and get back in control again. I know I can do it. And congrats to all of you for doing so well!!

Thanks for letting me ramble on.
(Hugs), Dena

Congrats Getncontrol for staying in there!

Welcome Dena to the group. Totally understand the emotional eating. At least you recognize it for what it is, now you can control it. Take care of yourself so that when you are able you can swing back to the exercise leg of living a healthy lifestyle; definitely a piece of the puzzle.

Jazzbird, that's why the weight gain is not touching my emotional psyche since I know it will eventually come off once I stop taking these meds. But, I probably did gain one of those three pounds by splurging on foods I don't normally eat. That, I can remedy and work against.

Hi Everyone,

Softballmom, thanks for the warm welcome. I actually got things under control over the weekend. So this morning I feel so much better about everything. Just a few days of control is a lot of power. I'm going to try and do some gentle exercises today in spite of hurting my knees. I can always do upper body, right? Gotta start moving again.

Featherweights, here's to a great week!

Dena ... Sorry to hear about your knees but so happy to hear that your weekend was in control again... If you can stay in control on the weekend, dang you can stay in control the rest of the week, that is a great start...

Hey Wide have a good snooze

Today I worked, I'm a replacement secretary in the schools so I can work a lot or very little ... and lately it's very little and when that happens my routines and plans for food and exercise often take the window, but not today I'm happy to say
