  • Hi everyone - it's so nice to be able to finally post here - there were times I never thought I'd make it this far.

I had a dire summer (lost 2 lbs in July and 1.5 in August) but I'm back on track with 6.2 lbs lost so far in September! My aim is to make 140 by Christmas!

Wanted to comment on the "eating till you're full" thing - that was my downfall. My bf a couple of years ago (now my ex bf) said one time when I was moaning about my weight, "You know, all you need to do is eat what you want, when you're hungry, and you'll be fine."

BIG mistake. Huge. I put on two stone in about 6 months. I went on holiday over the summer and had decided that I wasn't doing the diet this week. Had a week of eating what I wanted. Came back 6 pounds heavier . . .

    So, I can't do that!

Anyway, look forward to getting to know all of you a little better.
  • Robsia! Doesn't it feel wonderful to be so close? My last pounds have been the biggest challenge in my entire journey - and I'm not there yet! I'm hoping to learn more in keeping it off as I remove the last 6-8 depending on the day (see my comment below)

Well, it was just yesterday that I said I was still hanging at 121, but there have been days this month that spike up due to meds, etc. Well, today is another spike day - 123.5 What the? It has to be my w/t that I've been doing the last few weeks. I knew that this would happen, but please tell me that my body will stabilize and will realize I'm not eating enough to keep the weight up. I know from looking at my journal it can not be "fat" weight, but either water or muscle. It's still discouraging though. But chin up, I will continue on because this is the best that I've felt in YEARS.

    Best to everyone else.
  • I had a bad summer, too, Robsia. I got back on track for September and have already made my 4 pound goal. Right now, I concentrate on either keeping the scale steady or making it go down. Those last few pounds seem to really be stuck on me!!! Good luck with your goal!
  • Hi Everyone!
Well, I broke down and payed $20.00 for the Fat Smash Diet! I basically eat like that anyway so I'm hoping to improve and kick these last 10 lbs that don't want to disappear off to never never land!
  • I got the Fat Smash book at the library today I haven't started to read it yet, I'm reading the SuperFoods RX book... I was also leafing through the Diet 4 your type, it's ok I guess, but I don't believe everything he says about me the "O" type...

Today has been a good food and exercise day...
  • I'm so mad. I've been really rushed today, so ate one of those frozen meals for dinner. When I entered it into my food log, I discovered that the calories on the package were for HALF! I just hate it when they do that! Serves me right for eating like that. Yuck.
  • Well, by some miracle I have lost 3 pounds in the last two days.

Last Sunday I went out and ate a big meal and I had put 3 lbs on the following morning. Not only have I lost those, but 3 more besides. I have only had a bowl (although a big bowl) of Bitesize Shredded Wheats for tea every night since Monday so I think that might have helped. Also I've had a nasty tooth infection which has really taken it out of me. But I don't care if it means I can lose weight like that!

So I broke he 11 stone barrier - hit 153 this morning which is 10 st 13!!

    I feel good na-na-na-na-na-na-na
  • About books Ilene... I like Superfoods but modify it according to my blood type. I like Blood type but modify it according to my adoration of cottage cheese. I also like Tom Venuto .....but to all this I add in a dash of BFL cuz I like that. And I can't do many carbs
As in most things ... you'll find the 'plan a la Ilene'.

I've gotten hammered here about the blood type thing before but at the risk of it happening again, I do have something positive to say about it. Most the things he said could happen to 'A's' as a result of eating wrong are happening to my parents, my daughter can correct most of her IBS symptoms by doing it too. Those all may be coincidents but .... I've tried dummer things.

Robsia, you're my hero if you can fight through a tooth infection and still be on the upside. I had my first a few months ago and I still shudder to think about it. Thanks to my dentist and good drugs!

BTW, I think a stone is 14 pounds. Is that right?
  • Yes, a stone is 14 pounds.

I had the lot - fever, puffy swollen cheek like a hamster, absolutely no energy. One night I went to bed at 9pm and woke the next morning still exhausted. And I went to work throughout as I'd had two days off the previous week from a cold and didn't feel I could take any more time off.

Still, I'm now down 7 lbs from Monday so I guess it was worth it! And I'm OK now - I can still feel a tiny tiny touch of it when I smile but it's mostly gone.

There are some things I agree totally about type "O"s, such as refined carbs makes us really really tired, I laughed when my hubby said that type O's need intense exercise ... I said, Wow, that's totally me!! I think all programs should be taken with a grain of salt, some salt from here, some saltl from there is a good thing, and voilą you do have the 'plan a la Ilene'. I like that Susan

Today was a good day, ran 6k this morning without one stop in 41:25, which, for me is really really good... Cleaned the pig pen, did some groceries, shopped and bought a top and a sweater it's all good ...
  • I'm jealous, I can't even run to the end of the driveway(200 meters) I've never been a runner though, not even when I was little(I'm asthmatic) but I'd like to be a runner someday! Can't start training though because I can't afford to go to the gym and it's going to be -40 here soon enough.
Oh well, I'm Fat Smashing on Wednesday! Wish me luck! I need it!This will be my first actual "Diet"!
  • Wide -- Anyone can run, really, you need to start very very gradually, run for 30 seconds, walk one minute or more, and so on... In no time you'll be right up there running for 5 or more minutes in one shot... Funny you should mention Fat Smash, I am reading that just now and I just may try it... This too will be my first actual "diet" in years... If it's easy enough to follow I will follow it indefinitely, I'll see when I get there... This morning I got some pure cranberry juice, psyllium husks and lemons... I need my coffee though so I'll drink only one cup/day... I'm going to mosey over to the Fat Smash forum just for some hints later on...

Today is dull and dreary here I'm going to the gym in a few minutes to do some weights and cardio...
  • See you all on Almost there- October!
Ilene- let me know if you are going to do it! I'm interested in starting up with someone around the same weight.
