Bluetoblue-You're right. i am absolutely my own worst critic and i do see every small flaw. Problem is, if i can see it, then i know my DH can probably see them too.
i know this is a strange observation, but i've noticed that the more i lose, the more my DH is touching the bones that are starting to finally appear again. i know it's probably just because he's not used to being able to feel them, but it kinda wierds me out a little. Anyone else find this same thing happening as they get smaller?
Haven't been as focused on the exercise as i should be. With the heat index up to 105, i've just been wanting to stay indoors. The humidity is just crazy. i have resistance bands and exercise tapes, but i've been laxed about using them. Just wasn't a great week for me. Tomorrow is another day, though.

Yaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!! The cheating fairy did not visit yesterday! I stayed OP. It really helped me to write down my very specific plan for eating, so I will do that again today.
Water - 8 - 32 oz. before noon, 8 oz. @ noon, 3PM, 6PM and 9PM Exercise - Week 4/Day 1 c25k Eating - Fruit until dinner
California Tostada Main Course Salad for dinner
Fruit for a snack after dinner. Daily Affirmation - Fail to plan and plan to fail.
Dagmar and Carolyn - I probably missed something - are ya'll doing a fruit/juice fast? I have only done that a few times in my life and was never too successful - I always get light headed and a little queasy if I don't eat something. Good luck with your plan! It's probably a good way to jump start your program!
DH and I made a really good zucchini lasagna last night. The recipe is from Cooking Light online (they call it 'Layered Zucchini'). We varied the recipe a little - it calls for low fat cottage cheese, but we used low fat ricotta, which I LOVE. We also used tons of fresh basil and oregano from our herb garden in the sauce. It was so tasty - 210 calories per serving; I had two servings, had a salad with it, and felt very satisfied.
How do I put a link to the recipe?
Barbara - My mom just stopped by with a blueberries she had picked and a ton of okra from their garden. I'm planning to try the okra corn salad tonight! I'm going to make enough to take some to my parents, since they are the source of the okra (well, actually my brother). Thanks for all the okra ideas!
What exercise is everyone planning for today? We have a break in the heat - only supposed to last today and tomorrow - so I am going to do a LONG bike ride.... 90 minutes or so on a hilly route. I'm looking forward to it.
Claire Your husband cooks??!! Your husband COOKS!!! Does he have a twin brother?
And no, I'm not doing a voluntary fast, just atoning for the sins of yesterday (see BLECH). I find I can go without food all day if I'm not working. If I'm walking the dogs, forget it! I need about 1400 calories in summer just to keep from crashing and burning.
Have fun on your bike ride. I'm going to get my slug of a DH out of bed now (it's almost noon) and get him motivated for some kayaking tonite. I figure he'll be ready in about 5 hours, give or take an hour
Dagmar - I read Blech, and now I see. Good luck today!
My husband is a sloth when it comes to exercise (I have to beg, cajole, make deals, etc. to get him to bike or play tennis with me), but when it comes to housework... well, let's just say, he is the wife and I'm the husband. Truthfully, I do the majority of the cooking (he is a good cook though and cooks sometimes, but I love to cook), but he does majority of 'housework'. He has a Dyson (vacuum cleaner), which I don't even know how to use! He's gearing up to use it now --he just said he's "going on a 'vampage!" I do most of grocery shopping, cooking, all laundry, bill paying, and a few other things, but he is the master house cleaner. Pretty amazing guy.
Last night we cooked together - I found the recipe, organized everything, he collected and chopped herbs, we layered it sort of together - it was fun. The garden is mainly his domain too, so I guess you could say he grew the veggies. It's a good balance and I know I'm lucky
First, open the recipe in one window of your browser.
Then, open this forum thread in another window of your browser.
In the CL browser, hightlight the URL and copy it.
In the 3FC brower, click the "link button" in your reply box (it looks like a little Earth with a chain link in front). A box will pop up and then you paste the URL there and hit okay.
That's it!
Sounds like a good recipe! I love CL!!!
I'm rather sick today. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the heat yesterday in the office with the malfunctioning AC (it's been fixed--the fan motor wore out). I went for my run, though!!! Tough, but I made it and it does seem to be getting easier each time. I'm still scared for week 5, though. I'm down to 145 this morning!!! 1345 calories yesterday--a little high because I had wine with lunch.
Allison, thanks for helping me with the link! I'm so dense with computer stuff! I have been calling it zucchini lasagna, but it's really called Layered Zucchini. I had a serving today for lunch.
Hi I'm reading but time to post has just been non-existant. Happy Dawnslight had good further news about her health. Wanted to say to thinnythighs that "dimpling" sounds like you simply have cellulite. Is that perhaps it? Look it up online and find the solutions others have found - I think cleaning up the diet can sometimes be the answer, but also exercise and enough water. Have also heard that with exercise sometimes cellulite can look worse before it looks better, but it IS changing for the better.
Re: our loved ones noticing bones. I don't think that's unusual. People get used to something and are surprised by change, that's all. Even with someone we knew when they were slim, we still forget and are surprised when the bones are back.
I am reasonably on track, just overwhelmed. The coming week will be killer, including the weekend. I am thinking of just doing 15 mins of exercise every morning before each day turns nutty. That way I would have in an hour 45 mins for each week, and that's a good basic for whirlwind times. Bracing for impact!
After every day and finally getting bored with it, i went out and got myself a pair of rollerskates for sculpting the inner and outer thighs. So far i've made it to the end of the block without falling, so that's good after having not been on them since i was little. Having to relearn all over again.
It's Sunday, so i'm not even going to talk about the food. This is my free day, and i'm going to enjoy it.
Trust me, it was Glory87's story 1 1/2 years ago that got me to sign up here! I agree, her story is truly inspirational!!! I did go from 173 to 155 really easily. From there it became harder. I guess my biggest problem is that I WAS 136 last November. By Christmas I was 139 which didn't bother me, and then I maintained that until June......it was June until now that is bothering me!
I know what you mean. A year ago I got down to 138. I maintained that for 2 or 3 months, but then I eventually went back up to the 140's, as high as 149. It's great that you were down to 145 yesterday!
I weighed 143 yesterday morning. I was 145 three weeks ago, then I went on vacation. I came back weighing 150, which I think was partially the food I ate and partially swelling. My feet and ankles were so swollen when I got back home. I know that happens to a lot of people during airplane rides (my flight was just over an hour). I guess all the walking I did on vacation + the heat may have contributed to my swelling.
I'm looking forward to an OP day today. I'm going to the gym later this morning and I have a lot of fresh fruit and boneless, skinless chicken in the kitchen.
Woo hoo! Another day without the cheating fairy paying me a visit!
Doing great this morning and afternoon too. I am off to a friend's and I have the idea in mind to enjoy a number of the fixings, snacks, dinner, dessert and drinks, but enjoy a little of each. Savour the taste, but keep the tasting at a minimum. Sounds good in theory. We'll see how things go.
walking2lose No, I'm not on a fast either. I follow the Fit For Life eating program which has you always only eating fruit up until noon. Every 3 days the program has you only eating fruit up until dinner and then having a Main Course Salad for dinner. Twice a month, you do a full day of only fruit.
Carolyn, that sounds interesting - I have heard of Fit for Life, but I never knew what it was. I think it would be VERY hard for me to follow the nothing but fruit until lunch or dinner. How do you do with it? Have you lost much? Do you feel hungry without protein? If I ever tried something like that, summer would be the time - I've been eating blueberries, peaches, strawberries, watermelon like crazy!
Thinny - I have always wanted to try rollerblading! It looks like a great work out, but the streets in my neighborhood are bumpy, so I don't really have a good place. Enjoy your free day of food!
Whittlin - good luck with your crazy week; I hope it's not too stressful!
Green T - your up and down story sounds just like me... almost identical down to the lbs. I am at 138-139 now, but it sure feels a little precarious. Good luck with being back on program!
Allison, are you feeling better? Hope so! Sounds like your program is starting to show results!!!! Yipee!
I hope everyone else had a great Sunday! I did a 90 minute bike ride today with a few good hills. We have a slight break in the heat, and it was so nice just to go riding on a beautiful day. DH and I decided that every night needs to be 'Garden Bounty' night, meaning part of our meal needs to include our garden veggies and herbs. Two nights ago we made zucchini lasagna (which was delicious), last night I made roasted okra and corn salad (recipe provided by Barbara!! It was yummy!), tonight we made bruschetta with tomatoes and basil, and tomorrow we are making a big pot of ratatouille - a stew with green peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, zucchini and lots of herb - it's good over brown rice for a meal. All of these veggies are really helping me stay in line with my calories - I love that I can eat a lot of them and still be ok calorie wise. Now if only we could get rid of some of our yellow squash and cukes - we have sooo many. Oh, watermelons are almost ready too... I'm excited about that!
Alright folks... hope everyone had a great weekend!
Well, I have two coats of urethene on half of one chair and one coat on half of the other. That's three out of a total of 12 coats, so I am 1/4th of the way done with this project.
walking--send some of those veggies my way! I have vegetable envy (notice the smilie is green with envy). We are getting some eggplant, tomatoes, and beans, but that's about the only thing coming out of my garden right now. It's not looking like we're going get any melons or cucumbers again this year (too cold again!). Glad you enjoyed the corn and okra salad!
Clykk--wow, that diet sounds really hard. I do not think I could survive on fruit alone, even for just half a day. Do you get to eat as much of it as you want or are your quantities limited too? Only fruit, no veggies?
