Re: Hunger. I read somewhere that physical hunger is gradual and you can make it wait. Like I'm reasonably hungry right now, but I know I'll be ok if I finish posting and checking my emails and stuff and then go and get some food. Whereas emotional hunger is very urgent and can't wait. You "need" chocolate NOW and nothing else will do and you can't wait.

FWIW I used to be afraid of being hungry - I used to eat 6 mini meals a day, I used to eat before I was ever hungry. But now I eat when my stomach/body asks me (growling or empty pains or a light-headed feeling). If it's "time to eat" and I'm not hungry, I don't eat. If I get home from training and feel sick from bangs on the head then I don't eat. If those bangs on the head make me want cookies, well then I have a cookie but I don't eat 20 cookies, I savour a cookie, or half a cookie, or quarter of a cookie and put the rest back for another day.

Yesterday I got a bang on the head and ate cheesecake and cookies for tea!

Tonight my parents are coming and this will be the real test of my "JUST FOOD" theory. I have never eaten normally when they stay with us. Usually I am tired and stressed and I have a weekend binge. But there you go - this weekend I will continue with my Just Food theory and see what happens.

Been there, done that. Whenever the parents (just one now) came over I ate whatever remained after they left. I hated having them over.

Good Luck! Be Strong! I'ts JUST FOOD! And your parents will leave.

Hi Everyone, well, this week I have really tried to watch quite carefully and yet the scales say 144. So I am not happy about this but am just trying to say that its only 5-6 pounds and if I keep trying I can do this.
I am swimming, doing my bike and walking the dogs too, so its got to come off right?
This weekend is our 32nd Wedding Anniversay ...which is something to really feel good about.

Happy Anniversary sue rose!!!

Don't fret too much about the 5-6 pounds (although I am just as guilty about my 7-8 pounds!). And yes, it will come off eventually if you keep at it.

Leaving for Vegas in 3 hours!!! I need some de-stressing! I had my last night as President of my charity group. The board bought me the cutest Brighton bracelet as a "thank you" gift.

Everyone have a great weekend!

Hi Everyone

I didn't get a chance to read many post yesterday or this morning so I've been trying to catch up. I've been doing pretty well with my eating until last night and today. I bought a new 2007 Toyota Prius yesterday! I love it and am so excited . Now I'm ready when they raise those gas prices again . The thing I figured out though, is that I don't stay on plan when I'm extra happy and excited so I better calm down and get back to business

2FRU - Good luck with your family!

Sue Rose - Congratulation! 32 years, WOW.

Allison - Have fun in Vegas. We went there 2 years ago for my daughter's wedding and we had a blast!

Well, better get going. I'll check in later

Ooh Abby, new car - very exciting. Hope you continue to love it. I must say that I absolutely adore my new car.

Well, hello everybody I have been having a very strange week - food wise and work wise. I seem to do one day on plan and two days off which is ridculous. I really need to shift another 1/2 stone (7lbs) before my holidays and this is not the way to achieve it. I seem to just constantly crave sugar -I mean way, way more than before when I wasn't bothering to try to shift weight.

Had another run in with on Tuesday but this time it was a nasty comment about my haircut. We have always got on fine. I have clearly upset her somehow but I'm past caring and can't be bothered to ask. Lots of people have noticed but nobody knows what's up. I did have an amusing moment when she desperately needed to know the answer to something at work. She spent about half an hour flicking through reference books and checking the internet before swallowing her pride and asking me. I know it makes me petty but it was fun.

Hope you all have a good weekend. I have a very busy one so will probably check in again on Sunday.

Boy, today was a crazy day. I was on the go from the moment I woke up until about . . . um 10 minutes ago. It was Mom's birthday, so dad and I were trying to get everything together for a cookout. Nothing big, just my sis and her family and a grandma. But it still had us, actually me, hopping. I woke up by 7:00am, ate my bowl of oatmeal . . . yummy and got dressed. By 9:30am I had my haircut, stopped at the bookstore to see if they had anything new in, finished getting the stuff for the cookout and was back home. I stopped long enough to check my maill and put in the first of three loads of laundry, and ate some lunch before heading outside to spend the next 2 hours mowing and trying to clean the mower. It was not pretty. Then I came in put in the second load of laundry and took my second shower of the day, made my first of two trips to the pharmacy and came home to loud some songs onto a MP3 player for my sister. By this time the third loud of laundry was ready to put in and my mom came home. Through out this I did manage to read a couple of pages in the books I'm reading and crotchet a couple of rows. Oh, and I burned the trash. After we ate me and two of my sister's kids washed dishes for my mom. All this almost makes me think that I have an easier time at my regular job. Believe me this is not a normal day.

Havent been tracking my calories for the last couple days. I dont think I am eating more, I may be eating less. I just needed a break I think.. I am scared to be out there without that crutch but I am going to focus on weights and abs and my training for awhile.

The weirdest part of the last 2 months has been me adding coffee. I NEVER used to drink coffee and now I drink decaf every day. It couldnt be related to my sudden decline in sticking to plan? Honestly I think I am just...bored.

SusanB - Sorry can't help you with the gardening; I have a lot of my own to do this weekend. Luckily, I don't have a lot of dirt to move (I did most of the digging last weekend), I just need to dump some compost in the planter box, but I do have a lot of plants and seeds that I really need to get in the ground. What are you planting in your garden?

2Frus - Handily my parents never visit (I can't imagine what I'd do with them if they did), but I sure overeat when I'm at their house. Good thing that is usually only once or twice a year! And when my sister was out with her two kids I think I put on at least five lbs!

alinnell - I definitely think it would help to make your omelets one at a time, unless you are using a big pan for the eggs to spread out in, which would probably make it hard to get the omelet out in one piece. I think adding water or milk would help with the dryness, so you might give it a try that way. If you cook it with the lid on at the end, it shouldn't be runny (just don't add more than 1 tbsp per egg).

Abbyin - Congrats on the Prius! (ok, I know that smilie is a bike, but it is the closest I could find that looked like driving) My friend has one and she loves it! She especially loves that she can drive in the carpool lane with it with only one person in the car--I don't know if Indiana has this or not, but it's a big deal out here in CA.

Suerose - Congrats on 32 years! That's very impressive.

Doughnut - Sorry you are still having trouble with the at work. This too shall pass...

Ennay - I've been drinking a lot more coffee lately too--at least one, sometimes two cups per day. I've even very recently started making it myself (I used to rely on my SO to make it, but some days he was late or didn't make it and I finally figured out that there's no big mystery to using the coffeemaker--turns out I'm perfectly capable of grinding beans, inserting a filter, and adding water). I enjoy it and I feel like it is a harmless indulgence (and I have so few food indulgences these days). I drink decaf with 1 tbsp fat free half and half (which I'm sure is some horrible cancer-causing substance because I can't imagine how they make half and half fat free--but don't tell me, I don't want to know I'm addicted and it's too late to save me ) and 2 tbsp sugar-free Torani syrup. It helps me stay on plan because it keeps me from snacking.

Ah coffee ... surely a blessing from above! We recently bought a fabulous new maker and I drink more than a cup or two a day! Black. Pure unadulterated coffee

My garden? this is the first year we've been at this house in town so it's very small. I've got some onion sets in and I thought I'd planted some salady stuff but I think the squirrels have taken care of that. So eventually ... salady stuff, radishes, a couple of tomato and pepper plants. A hill of little squashes and one of zucchini. There's a slight chance of frost this week but things should be OK back there. We're pretty sheltered.
