Featherweights Planning for Mar 5 to 11
Ready for it? Ready for the start of a shiney new week? What is your 'thing' of the week going to be. What is the little tweak you're going to make that sends some of those last few pounds ... gone!
Mine is cardio and I've even got a ticker up and running. I'm surprised what I'm willing to do to make that ticker move. |
No baked goods for meeeee!!! It's my serious downfall, it's my evil point to spiral from...they're deadly and I'm done with them!!! :club:
|
I am going to try to up my exercise a little bit. I'm very consistent with my exercise but maybe I could be doing a little bit more.
I'd also like to try at least one new recipe this week. |
I'm back to salads. DH and I went to dinner Friday night and split a salad and appetizer. I was amazed at how much I adored the salad. (Remember, I'm the one craving comfort food in the "cold" weather.) Anyway, we'll have salad for lunch 4 days and salad for dinner twice this week. Let's see what it does to the scale!!!
|
My goal for this week is to see the number 140 on the scale.
Last week I saw 141.6 for the first time since high school. How am I going to do it? I'm going to stick to oatmeal foe breakfast, eat lean protein w/ some salads and cut out the chocolate I've been eating this past week. I'm also going to make sure to record every single bit of food accurately -- (I've been neglecting to include those 3-5 small York Peppermint Patty's I've been munchin' on and just realized that they are each 55 calories... and that adds up!) One little bite -- 55 calories. Poof. Good luck to you all! Can't wait to drop these last 10 lbs!!!!!!!! |
Alriiiiiiiiiiight!
The plan for this week is: To add some interval cardio to my weights sessions. Last week I was adjusting to my new program and boy was it hard! This week I think I could push a little harder with the cardio. Also with my Intuitive Eating I have been doing very well and the scale is ROCK STEADY! Which doesn't even usually happen when I'm trying hard to lose weight! :lol3: So I have no idea what that means! :dunno: But this week I am going to tell myself to be a little hungrier before I eat. Last week I was eating because I knew I needed it at that time, but I think this week I will actually try and lose a little bit of weight, so I am saying that I have to have tummy grumbles and feel REALLY hungry before I eat, rather than just feeling a bit empty. I had a great weekend - I went to my old school for their careers day. I met a few people I haven't seen in 7 years and they were mighty impressed! :D I went for lunch with 2 friends and DH and we had the most amazing lunch and then DH and I went shopping and I bought 3 handbags (purses!) :lol3: I'm really only declaring one, since the best one was £45, then two others were £6 and £2 :D My £6 is a new kickboxing one - it's got flowers on and is GIRLY! :flower: and my £2 one is one that will fit in the bike panniers that I can use every day for work. The most expensive one is a posh big handbag that I can use when I'm dressed up. :) I also visited my granny with banoffee pie :T I had to take something to soften the blow of the critisism of my wedding photos. Yes. Really. Apparently I was carrying my train, "Like an old overcoat." And it was too dark for good photos  It was an afternoon wedding in November, it's not like we were surprised that it went dark at 4pm! Anyway! Then yesterday I tidied my room! I can now shut one wardrobe door and all my shoes are actually inside the wardrobe... And most of my clothes are in there too! We went to the library too, and I got some cookery books out. I am going to try and be more adventurous and get DH into cooking. It's a tough job but someone's got to do it! So yes, all good! I've got weights and some cardio at lunch and kickboxing tonight. :) |
Sounds like this is going to be a cardio week for everyone! My goal is the same. Went to the gym this morning for the first time in a few weeks, and did cardio intervals on the elliptical. Felt really good. Now I'm going to do my lower body exercises. Really prefer to do cardio afterwards, but if I don't hit the gym at 5 when it opens, I won't be able to get on the elliptical right away.
Fru, looks like this may be the beginning of spring cleaning fever....I did the same thing, cleaned my bedroom, went through all my clothes and got two big bags full for the thrift store. If I'm retiring soon, and my present job work dress is casual, I don't need all the suits, skirts and jackets that have been sitting in my closet these past years. A new leaf! Determined....you must be feeling soooo good about your loss, and the new you. Good luck with that pound plus disappearing. Hope everyone's weekend was a good one, and may this be a great week! |
Hey gang, sorry I've been MIA , life had been getting in the way so I was away from the computer...
This week it's exercise as usual, I always workout a LOT so working out is not a problem...Soooo for me it's food, clean, clean, clean... No bites and tastes as I go along through my day, that's a big problem for moi... Later gang, I am at work, so I can't stay on long... TTFN  |
Hi everybody!
First - I'm sorry for being largely non-present lately. I know for many of us this means we're slipping, but I am proud to say that for me, it does NOT. It was actually a time for getting myself back on-track. I find that when I spend too much time on the boards, it actually has a negative effect. I start thinking too much about weight, exercise & food issues (obsessing, really!), and I also start listening too much to what is SUPPOSED to work and forget what I KNOW works FOR ME. This morning, I saw 145.0 on the scale. That is the lowest I'd gotten to when I started this journey before the Xmas holidays, so now I can start going DOWN again. I am feeling revved up, and really good about my ability to lose some weight right now! That said, my goal for this week is to stay focused on what works FOR ME. I have learned over time that some of the tried & true things that are almost weight loss mantras DO NOT work for me. Eating six small meals a day does not work for me. When I do this, I am constantly hungry, take in more calories overall, and any possible increase in metabolism is not enough to make up for that. What works FOR ME is eating three meals per day, at mealtimes. Calorie counting does not work for me. I end up keeping my calories too low because I am so freaked out by the numbers, and my loss stalls. What works FOR ME is having a fairly short list of "staple" foods that I eat (think South Beach Phase I but with a couple of add-ins like high fiber cereal and fruit), and then having to make a conscious choice each time I add in something that isn't on that list. There are others, but those are some of the biggest ones. Tomorrow could be my lowest weight yet. . . |
Good morning ladies! Well I had a awesome weekend exercise wise...I made it to the gym Friday, Sat, and Sunday which for me is a miracle it itself. My eating was okay not good not bad just kinda in between but this week I wanto to really focus on the eating and see if I can get into a groove with that. Along with the eating I want to continue on with my exercise. I am starting to see little changes in my body due to the strengh training and I'm liking it. I have only been at the strengh training for a few weeks now so really excited to see what happens with a few more weeks of it. This week not to much going on, just the ususal running around. I am getting really excited though because at the end of the month the ladies of my family and I are going downtown to see Wicked! I heard it was fantastic and just love live performances like that. Well that is about all for me. It sounds like we all have great plans for this week so lets stick with them and see how wonderful we feel while taking care of ourselves. Have a great day everyone!

Hello everyone and happy March.
Well my big change this month is that I am actually running consistantly. Makes me feel like a totally new and remade woman. This month I am going to work on evening out the muscles in my body. My left shoulder and my right knee are very naughty and I have to hold them accountable by excercising separately. On a more personal note my daughter is fully weaned. Yippee. So run run run. Lift lift lift. And of course eat well. Spring is in the air! |
Adding push-ups to the mix
Susan B inspired me to add push-ups to my morning routine. Again, my goal is to gain strength so I can sail my Hobie Wave better in two months.
Artmaker - thanks for the tip about doing bicycles. I'll try them and see if they hit the same muscles I use when I'm hiking out on the sailboat. When I said I was doing sit-ups, I probably should have said crunches. My knees are bend up so that the small of my back is press into the floor. My head is craddled so I'm not lifting from my neck. I really concentrate on the stomach muscles below my belly button. A future goal will be to add upper body weights to my schedule so I can crank in the jib on our large sailboat faster and pull myself up on the trapoline of the Hobie Wave after I've righted it from a capsize. Yesterday, DH and I took a too long bike ride. He had looked online at an ariel view of our township and found a lake we haven't seen yet. He greatly underestimated the time it would take. It was a struggle for me to get there and then even harder to get back. Plus, I was still very saddle sore from Saturday's off road bike trip. Today, we're going for a walk because it'd be too cold on the bikes with the wind chill below freezing. Have a great day everyone and stick to your plans! |

This week, with adding the salads to my routine, I will get back to 140 by Friday (no doubt about that--I seem to do it EVERY week) but this time I will be extra good over the weekend and KEEP IT OFF!!! |
Hey hope you guys don't mind if I jump in.
So I really want to stay on track with my calorie counting this week. That's my main goal. To do that I'm going to measure things out and work on double checking calories in the foods I tend to eat every day! Don't want any underestimation going on here. :) Since I'm recording my food I'm going to make sure I get in enough fiber as well. Is it 30-35grams of fiber a day? Or is it more/less? I'm shooting for 30 anyway (was a little low yesterday.). Anyway I'll do more planning later, right now I have to get ready for class. :) See you all later and good luck. |
Just jump in that's the only way to fly! Rest assured we're happy you're here!
|
Well. I'm back. A NASTY round of pneumonia in some nasty Michigan weather. Starting all over again, now that I'm able. This morning did 30 EASY minutes on the bike and the Day One lifting for Body for Life.
I'll weigh in and post starting weight tomorrow, I think I'm back where I started. Sigh. Spanky |
I didnt realize there was an area for losing just a few pounds so I'm joining also. My goal is to not sabotage myself because I just saw a few pounds drop. I have to keep up what I've been doing and focus on my end weight. It's going to be tough to lose so I can't get too excited about what I've lost thus far. Stick to serious cardio workouts and weights 3 x per week!
|
Welcome Bikini Dreader and welcome back Spanky!
Good luck to both of you. |
Must stick to what I have been doing. Exercise and control the calories in. That's it. I dont want to sabotage myself this time because I saw a little weight loss. Keeping my end goal in mind.
|
I thought my note dissappeared but I forgot about page 2. I have to write these goals down or else I'm not accountable. Maybe writing it twice will really make me stick to it! Thanks for the welcome!
|
I hope it's ok if I jump in too. Today I started really sticking to my weight watcher points and monitering how much water I drink. I thought I drank a lot of water because it is the only thing I drink other than Tea or Cofee, but when I started to keep track it is only half as much as I should. I also started taking the dog on the longer more hilly walk, even though it is FREEZING in NH I still went. Hope everyone is having a good day.
|
lpgoad~welcome to you, too! A year ago, I started out at about your weight. You can do it, too!
|
I hope so, I lost 50lbs and then gained back 10 so now I want to lose that plus some. It's so hard, I LOVE TO EAT!!!
|
lpgoad :welcome: We all love to eat, unfortunately....
I gotta drink more water too .... Today I had a nice surprise I only worked the morning till noon... I have a 40 min commute and it was awful, the wind and snow drifts, I was glad to be in my warm home ... |
OMG, love to eat! YES!!! So much so that I simply cannot understand how anyone can be anorexic....yes, I know some people who suffer from it, so I know it's real, but I could never do it. For the past 6 weeks, I've been on a cooking fest! Thank goodness for Cooking Light--I can't praise them enough! Of course, I've learned a lot of ways to lower the fat or calories and increase the healthiness of just about anything I cook now, but sometimes it is nice to browse through recipes you've never made and settle on some new thing.
I have to tell a story. DD had to work Friday night and she came home and saw a recipe sitting on the counter. She asked if that was what I was planning to fix for dinner that night. She was relieved when I told her that it was actually for Sunday night's meal (when she would be home). I guess my kids like my cooking!!! Ilene~stay warm. Spring is just around the corner! |
Welcome, lpgoad, Bikini Dreader and Cats Tongue!
Spanky, Hi. Best wishes. hikerchick, you have had a lot of changes in a short while! Congratulations on a landmark in your child's life. My one little tweak is just about the same as Carey's. Just excellent eating, but the number one thing could almost be summed up as "no white flour". That stuff just ruins everything! ;) I've had some extra time for quiltmaking lately so the design wall is shaping up to look like more than a hodge-podge. Family barely notices but I do! Again, workout goal is three 50-minute segments this week. |
woohoo we're in it together, Whittlin! :high:
I hope you feel better soon, Spanky. Welcome to Ipgoad and Bikini Dreader  I'm glad you're home safe, Ilene...driving conditions like that always make me nervous, and I'm from Calgary :p I'm not a driver YET though. I'm going to learn this summer. It's always nice to have someone appreciate your cooking, Allison :) I love to eat too!!! But I am practicing "mindful eating" right now, it is working out pretty well. I mindfully squashed half the bran muffin I was eating today into a soggy melon rind, it was very spiritual. |
Hello all! Could someone please explain to me Beef Jerkey? Is that stuff supposed to be EDIBLE??? I just bought 2 *gulp* packets from Tesco because it's high in protein and such and I've just had a bit... It's like eating boot leather! REALLY! :?: Anyway, most things going well. Feeling surprisingly hungry this morning but I didn't have too much for breakfast. My tummy is still feeling the full fat greek yoghurt I had last night (made with full fat cows milk and thick cream) I can be a bit funny with lactose and it probably wasn't the greatest idea to eat the full-fat stuff DH bought instead of the 0%. Funnily enough I can just about manage with 0% yoghurt. Kickboxing is all good, going back to train today and it's leg day today so I think I might die by the end of it! Oh and welcome newbies  |
I lost the who's road is plowed lottery and have to go to work ;) DH will drive me.
I am apparently out from under the phobia-fog from yesterday. I feel good today. Keep active, everyone and have a good day. |
Me bad! Isn't that what the kids say? I'm so far behind on correct lingo now that my kids are grown. Ate some pretzels yesterday...then some more....then some more....well, you know how it goes. At least they were pretzels and not cookies.
Woke during the night, read for a long time and then got another hour of sleep in, but it screwed up my exercise schedule. I will not fall from my path!!! Back on track as of this moment! Workout tonight! Fru....never had beef jerkey, never intend to. Never knew anyone who did. Think it's the kind of thing cowboys ate as they were on the trail, moving cattle. Last resort kind of food. Maybe I'm wrong? Spanky, glad you're feeling better. Welcome newbies! |
I love beef jerky. The chewiness makes it take a long time to eat, so I feel more satisfied than if I just snarfed something down. The only thing to beware of is that it's often high in sodium, if you're watching that.
I skipped the gym this morning as I am feeling kind of yucky in the tummy - hope I am not coming down with something. I have yoga tonight so will still be getting some activity in. Still haven't seen 144, sigh - I guess that's my reason to stay on plan! TOMORROW will be my day! |
Beef Jerky :barf: :barf: is all I have to say about that, no I'll say something else, it gives you the worse zoo breath... When my kids eat it I can tell right away...
Art -- The saying is "My Bad!" ... My teenagers say it alllll the time! Nothing much on this front, except I feel in slow motion at the moment, but once I get off the computer I'll get going, I promise... No big plans today... Gym this morning.... NO running this afternoon, it's -30C ouch! Maybe some swimming tonight... I'm outta here  |
Man from all the junk i ate on the weekend I felt soooooooooo sick last night I ended up in bed at 8:00. Well at least most of the junk is gone and so far so good today. I had 3/4 cup of oatmeal with 2 teaspoons of brown sugar (I cannot stomac it plain) and for snack i had a cup of grapes now lets hope i do well the rest of the day my stomac is still curling a bit. I got in 90 mins of exercise in today. Oh and I plan on having chicken fajitas tonight.I loooove them. Now it is just to figure out lunch.
My kids almost have me in the nut house it is March Break and they are NOT getting along |
Good morning ladies! Well not a whole heck of a lot going on here today. Today is a workout free day which I have to admit my body is ready for. I just have some laundry and picking up to do and figure out what is for dinner. Tonight my husband has class so the couch and my book are going to be my date.
Su-Bee you will see 144 your so close just hang in there! C-mom my kids just had yesterday off and they were driving me mad so God bless you with them home all week! Hope the rest of you ladies have a wonderful Tuesday! |
We like beef jerkey but limit eating it to car trips. I always get the munchies and I like to have something chewy, so jerky is great for those times (better than licorice!). But I agree, it probably does give you bad breath--but not nearly as bad as corn nuts. Does anyone ever eat corn nuts? You used to be able to get them from the vending machine at my old job and if one person in the room ate them, the whole room smelled of corn nuts. (But they did taste good!)
I was coming in a little high on calories yesterday and then DD brought in 3 boxes of GSC. OMG I ate 280 calories of cookies! Darn Girl Scouts! The scale went up a pound for that. Everyone have a great day! |
I was so good. My co-worker is going to Vincenzo's (yummy Italian gourmet deli) to pick up lunch, and if there is any one thing that I usually CANNOT resist, it is Vincenzo's!
But I resisted. I said, no thank you. And I will eat my planned lunch. Although I may have to take a little walk while everyone else is eating THEIR Vincenzo's. . . |
Hi all
Everything is going well for me. I'm not drinking wine or snacking in the evenings, not eating biscuits (cookies) or cake at work, and on the weekend I nearly bought myself a bar of chocolate but decided not to! We'd already been eating healthy meals with lots of veggies, and only fruit or yoghurt for dessert, so it was the snacks that were the problem. It's quite weird, really - I've been struggling with this weight for literally years, but all of a sudden I seem to be getting somewhere! What I really need to do is move the exercise up a gear - I don't really do anything except walk the dog, and as Alinnel said in another post, it's quite hard to fit long walks in in the winter because it's not light for long enough. Roll on the summer! Then, I'd like to increase my walking and gradually start running. Have a great week, all. |
Can you go to an nice exercise class? Aqua-aerobics or spinning or yoga or salsa-size or body pump or something like that? How about ballroom dancing with your SO? Ice skating? Roller blading?
Something fun that excites you - anything! A little mini rebounder trampoline while you're watching the TV? |
Hi all.
Greetings from hormone central. I do not handle hormonal fluxuations very well. Weep weep. OK I did my jog this morning and now I am fine for now. I'll be OK really. Welcome newbies!:welcome2: Cly, If you are thingking about starting jogging or running I would highly reccomend starting during a cool time of year. Spring or fall or even winter. Running is awesome but the one thing that I have noticed is that even on 32 degree days I come home stripped down and sweating. If you live in a place that doesn't get too hot or if you are one of those "I love the heat" type people then of course YMMV. But I just had to give you my 2cents since my mantra these days has been. "Thank god I started this when it is so cold outside" Keep in mind that I am a heat weanie. Really the heat and jogging has been on my mind alot lately. I am thinking that I HAVE to get to my goal weight or at least really close by summer. I have to loose some of that "insulation" if you will or else I really will melt. Well I'm getting there slowly but surely. Happy Tuesday! |
HaHa! I have a funny story to tell. DD came home last night from the gym and looked totally wiped out. She said that she and her friend rushed to the gym for the 5:00 pilates class only to find the it started at 6:00 rather than 5:00. So they worked out for a while--concentrated on cardio and lower body. Then they went to the pilates class......which concentrated on lower body. She said she was afraid she wouldn't be able to walk today!
