Happy Valentines Day Everyone!
I am just back from the gym, another 45min walk/run, this time with more running than yesterday (2 min walk, 6 min run) and then a few laps swimming without using legs.

Now just finished late but healthy pasta lunch, tired but happy, and need to get on with my university work!
Have a great day all.

I am on week 2 of my couch to 5k plan. I am cheating a little (running a little more than I am supposed to) but only a little. Today the plan called for 90 second jog 2 minute recovery and when the contour of the hills permitted it I did a 2 or 3 minute jog.

Also yesterday I took a mini run. My son watched my daughter while she napped and I ran to the end of the road and back (5 minutes, thats about as long as I can leave them at this age). I decided I need a little more cardio on my non running days so I took out my old firm videos (picked them up a couple of years ago at a thrift store for cheap) and did one of the workouts. I have mixed feelings about the videos. On the one hand it forces me to workout for 40 minutes so that's good. Maybe I need some heavier weights. I only have a 5 and 10. I think I might need an 8 and a 15 too.

I am doing fine on food. Really great actually usually around 1300 calories. No movement in the scale but I think its PMS. We shall see in a couple of weeks.

I am so happy I found you guys. You are great motivators.

Well let's see. I can blame it on TOM or Valentine's Day but the fact is I woke up late, opened the fridge and ate fat and sugar free chocolate pudding for breakfast. Calories wise it's not that bad but it's certainly not a good way to start my day
However, I came here and now I've been inspired to exercise now

I tried out thedailyplate.com today. It is actually pretty interesting. I think I sitll like fitday better, but it's interesting. It calculated my caloric requirements per day to lose 2 pounds a week to be 1,115 calories, though. Doesn't that seem a little low? Any suggestions?

Any suggestions on how to make yourself realize you don't want to eat something before you eat it? *sigh*

I boasted way too soon yesterday about my local pub. Well, the pub was fine it was me that wasn't and as a result I ate 1800 cals yesterday and with 1500 the day before was not doing well on my overall plan for this week. I went off to bed a bit sulky as a result but woke up this morning and decided that I was zig zagging this week and have had a good day as a result.

That's not quite true - I have had a truly horrible horrible day at work. I was so upset that when I came home I started to walk to the shop to buy some chocolate. I hadn't gone too far before I thought "what the **** am I doing, how can this possibly help me"? I came back and have had 1317 cals today and it's nearly bed time. No good news on the exercise front though - haven't done any yet this week

Ok - this is supposed to be tongue tied but does anybody else think it's just smilie up chucking?

Sweet talker - If I don't catch up with you tomorrow (time zones and all that) have a truly fabulous time in Montreal.

Ooh, Sweet talker that was weird. Was just thinking about you. Um, I reckon the 2lb thing at your current weight might be right. You don't have much to lose and 2lbs means you have to save 7000 calories which is really hard in a week if you're as light as you are.

Re the eating thing - if I knew the answer to that one I don't think I'd be here

Wish I had time to say hello to everyone but will be back - Carey, I think that's a little low. The only site I've seen that addresses exact calories is SlimFast and I've been staring at that one from 170 pounds down to 150! But when I look at my pages now (I'm thinking of their "nutrition tracker" pages) it calculates down to 141 and suggests a lot more calories than that, still maintaining you can lose "up to 2" pounds a week.

I'll bet the number on that site is low because it's not figuring in any activity at all? That would make a big diff.

Hey all

Happy Valentines to all

2frustrated, you must have some super calves!! Keep pumping, I'm nowhere near you! I'm sure it's all water!

BluetoBlue, I feel the same way about salt right now, I've given up calories, sweets and fats, leave my salt alone!!!

Muffintop, we will get ya into shape, remember, you have to answer to us!!

Pinkpirate, we missed you, hope your family is feeling better.

Ilene, we're here for ya! But I'm sure your not going to screw up!

Hickerchick, you kill me with your dog stories.

Well, so far so good. My SO was informed that I was not tp receive chocolates for Valentines this year, although at school I admit to eating 3 hershy kisses, but I kinda see that as a triumph, normally I would go buy a bag.
Gym tomorrow, there is a snow storm, but I am going to do my best. Think that it's safe to weigh tomorrow, cross your fingers because if I don't see a change, I'm going to be very discouraged. I've worked really hard the last week and a half.

Night all!
Dana

BluetoBlue -- Pass the salt shaker please? I've also kept my salt, I've read that it's not the actual salt that is bad for us but all the sodium in the processed foods that some people eat... Since I rarely have processed foods I figure that a little ground sea salt isn't going to kill me...

Dana -- I screwed up today BIG TIME, but that's ok, tomorrow will be a lower calorie day that's all... Isn't it called zig-zagging? ... Good luck with your weigh-in

Hicker -- Good for you for running for a few minutes more, that's awesome progress ... You'll be doing a straight 5k in no time...

sweet_talker -- 1115 cals/day seems awfully low, specially if you exercise a lot... I'd be knawing my arm off after a few days of such low calories... Play around with calories, start with 1400-1500 or so and if you gain on that amount bring the calories down 100cals/week and see at which number you start losing steadily on... I lose the most at about 1300-1400 calories, everyone is different...

Today buses were cancelled because of the snow storm, I didn't go into work, I'm a part time school secretary I work only Mon, Wed, and Friday afternoons. The school I work at is 40 minutes away and I wasn't going in on a day like today. The principal is pretty nice about my switching my days around anyways... Tomorrow may be more of the same, if the buses are cancelled I won't be going in again... I did make it to the gym for back and biceps had a very good workout... Food was bad though and I won't bore anyone with the details...

Hi to everyone else I didn't mention and Happy Valentines to all

Ilene got snow and I didn't for a change! It's a bit dusty right now. I'm glad they sent me home at 7 instead of 11 ... it could be quite drifted by then.

BluetoBlue...salt is good...but I like sugar better. I love the trampoline icon...and the bubble blowing one.

Muffintop: nice looking plan, I hope your headaches go away...Do you think maybe caffeine could be the culprit?

Pink_pirate: hope your family gets better!! Or is better...or is just healthy, ya know?

2frustrated: I don't want to challenge you to a strength competition...especially if you're frustrated that day . My legs might snap.

I'll have to remember not to eat grapefruit around the computer, Alinnell! Watch out for kiwis too!

awesome work on the exercise Carobelle and Hikerchick! I could do with somma that

Nomorefatpants: I can't wait until I live at home again and can buy lots of stuff like sugar free, fat free chocolate pudding so I can indulge but not "break the bank" money wise or calorie wise... I just gotta take what I can get in the cafeteria, and usually it's not that healthy. They do have cc though

doughnut: is hilarious...but online, if I don't have anything to say...I don't type! it's a shame I haven't been able to use it thanks for the nice thoughts

we just have lots of rain, here....not usually much snow. hopefully the buses will be running...unless work can wait another day

Thanks Whittlin, SodiumLightBaby and Ilene for the comments on thefoodplate too! I think I'll try to go for around 1200-1300 on days when I can't exercise on purpose (spend a good half hour everyday with walking to class and to eat and stuff...but not real exercise) and on days where I do more, I'll add some calories accordingly.

*Whew* There's never been so many people to respond to and keep up with! Happy Valentine's Day!

Man I'm a but bummed today. Can't figure out if it's my knee or the scales that are doing my head in. Maybe it's both Oh and my toe has a lovely bruise on it like it's broken, but it doesn't feel broken

Anyway I'll soldier on. I think I'm just suffering from "deferred success" and if I stay on plan over the weekend I KNOW I'll be ok.

Good morning my dears. I really don't have much to say ... but that hasn't ever stopped me from posting.

I was talking with my friend at work yesterday about the breakfast thing. I am just not in the mood for food early in the morning. No matter what I read and learn ... it's the one thing I've not ever done well. So this morning, I had a scoop of cottage cheese while I waited for my coffee. I'm always telling other folks to eat several times a day, including breakfast.
