Thanks for starting the new thread, MsLily! How's it going today? I've done well today. The funny thing is, I don't really feel like I'm on a "diet". My fiance' is doing a revised version of the diet too-he doesn't need to lose weight, but wants to eat healthier. He was saying today how eating fruit makes him feel like he's cheating, and I feel the same way! Also, I've never been on a diet that allows you to eat the beans and corn the way this one does-since they are starchy vegetables, a lot of diets make you avoid them. But they are healthy in moderation! So anyway, I've been looking to hear from you all day and am glad that you posted! Look forward to hearing back from you soon!!

not sure why everyone doesn't just post on one thread? whichever one is fine but it would be so nice (and much easier!) to have one common thread so we could share all our info!

Thumbs up

Hi and thanks for starting this thread. I find the activity a little on the light side here. After losing 70 pounds doing Medifast, I just started Phase I on Monday and it's been extremely easy for me. I do have this little voice in my head that keeps telling me I'm eating too much since I wasn't allowed to eat fruit, dairy products, brown rice, etc. on Medifast. I just love the idea of eating real, whole foods. Here is my menu for yesterday. Any and all suggestions and comments are welcome!

B - 1 cup oatmeal w/soy milk and 1 packet pink stuff
decaf green tea w/splash of soy milk and 2 packets pink stuff

S - 6 oz low fat yogurt with 1/2 banana and blueberries and 1 packet pink
stuff

L - 3/4 cup brown rice w/curried spinach and chickpeas and tofu

S - apple

D - 1 cup Eggbeaters omlette w/peppers & onions, spinach salad with
mushrooms, 2 teaspoons olive oil & champagne vinegar

S - 1 cup soy milk smoothie w/blueberries and 1 packet pink stuff

My total consumption of soy milk didn't total 2 cups nor did my consumption of pink stuff total 3 tablespoons so I think I'm okay. This basically was also my menu for Monday. And naturally, I did 30 minutes of Walk Away The Pounds each day.

I'm hoping that lots of people post here so that I can get some good menu ideas! I love to cook so I'm also interested in lots of recipes.

I would also like to say that everyone here is so friendly and supportive. I also did WW a while ago and still visit their message boards (CORE) and those people are ridiculous. Some of them think they're the be all, end all authority on doing the program and are so rude and nasty. It's refreshing to find a group of people who just want to help one another! Thanks everybody and have a great day.

I feel the same way Auntieem!! I love this place! I started on Monday, but have been coming to the message board multiple times a day because I just love all of the support you can get from people. I posted my menu yesterday because, like you, I felt like I was doing something wrong because of all of the brown rice, beans, etc. But I am making myself not focus so much on that and focus more on the healthy stuff that I'm putting in my mouth!

Your menu looks so awesome!! I have not ventured to try tofu yet. How do you like it? I've heard it takes on the flavor that it is cooked with. I honestly haven't gotten into the recipes too much yet because I just started-right now I just throw together random foods, but it is so satisfying!

Again, glad you are here, and I look forward to seeing/talking to you more on here!! I hope all of us newbies (and people who are coming back from a hiatus) can get the message boards active again-it really helps to have a support system.

Have a great day!!!

Thanks for posting on this thread - doesn't seem all that popular but is OK. I really need to find a serious group and I keep reading the other posts and doesn't sound like there are many serious people and seems like a joke to some....I don't understand the thinking but I guess we all have to do what works for us! Not a joke for me anymore I guess...down over 10 lbs since my start earlier this week

Kara - wanted to PM you but can't yet Wishing you and Aunt Em all the best!

Thanks for posting, MsLily. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I know it's not a joke to me. It's high time that I got very serious about my weight, and since my start on Monday, I've been following the program to the tee. I can't weigh in until next Wednesday, though I know I've lost some already. Went to the gym yesterday.

Sorry that you can't PM yet-I can't either, and can't put a signature at the bottom of my name either, not sure why.

Glad to hear from you and know you're doing well.

Hi MsLily and Kara:

I think we can't have signatures until we have 10 posts and 30 days in as members. Check where it says "User CP" 30 days after your join date. We should be able to do it then.

As for being serious, I know I am. As I've posted before, I recently lost 70 pounds doing Medifast. I was maintaining for about 3 months but would like to loose another 10 pounds. I don't know if I've lost anything since I started on Monday but I do know that I feel terrific. Eating real, whole food is great. Don't know if either of you are familiar with Medifast but you eat 5 of their powdered meals (shakes, oatmeal, soups, hot drinks, pudding and bars) and one Lean & Green meal (consisting of lean protein and veggies) per day. No fruit, dairy or rice. I did that for over a year. I had my mind put to it so it wasn't difficult at all. It did teach me about portion sizes which I definitely have a problem with. Now, doing FS I feel like I'm enforcing the portion control thing because the voice in my head is telling me to be careful how much rice, beans and yogurt I'm eating.

I'm happy to have found some new friends here and hope we'll post to each other regularly.

Wishing you both a great day!

Auntieem,
I did a program very similar to Medifast called Optifast. Unfortunately we didn't get to eat the Lean N Green meal, and so I just got accustomed to eating the shakes, soups and bars. I did lose almost 60 lbs, then got off of that and went to NutriSystem, which again told me exactly what to eat and I lost another 26 lbs. However, when I got off NS I felt like I could eat whatever I wanted because I had never been taught what foods were healthy for me, like they teach you here. I gained all of my weight back. I'm feeling SO good on this diet because I can just feel my inside of my body loving the healthy, whole food that I'm giving it, like you said. Before I ate a lot of processed food, and I find eating the oatmeal, fruits and veggies, and milk to be so satisfying to me. I know these are life-long habits that I will strive to keep in my life. I think I finally found the right thing for me!

I am also glad to have found some new friends here, and I like that you post often-I do too!! I check back here many times throughout the day to see if anyone has posted anything new. It helps me to stay on this board as much as I can for the support.

Anyway, have a great day to all-I'm off to get something for a late late lunch.

Have a great, successful day!! We can do it!!

Kara, I think you should be able to PM after 10 posts because that's when I was able to. You don't get a signature until 30 posts and 30 days.

Thank you ma'am!! I'm not so concerned about the PM, but I want a signature!!! LOL Like it's that important, but I like the sparkly things and the counters....*sigh*.

And I saw your post on the other thread, and I know after you will be a 10, Toya-your personality definitely is already there!!!

Kara: I too jump around to talk to as many people as possible I have found it rewarding to know that others are going through the same thing I am going through.
MsLily: I too am very serious about getting this weight off and getting healthy. I am on my 7th day so this is all very new to me but very important. I want to get healthy so that I can be around to watch my grandchildren grow up.

Auntieem: Way to go on the 70lbs. I never tried the Medifast because I didn't think I could stick to it so my hat goes off to you for your hard word.

If I missed anyone I am soo sorry.

Jan: Glad to know that I'm not the only one who hops around to all different threads. I love to hear everyone's success stories, and it helps to hear their struggles because then I know we're all in this together!

Keep up your good work!!
