PRAYER REQUEST ~ I had the chills & a fever today, so I had to go to the hospital -- turns out that I was dehydrated from not eating and drinking since the AM when we went shopping. You know, you plan to be home for lunch but it takes longer than you think. So prayers that my temperature stays under 38.0 C (or 100.4 F) from now on. The next 3 days are important becuz that is when my blood platelets can drop too low, which also can cause fever too.
I also have to start carrying water, and face masks, and sanitizer & wipies for my protection, whenever I go out anywhere. I literally have no immune system anymore, so I am very vulnerable to every virus/bug out there. THANKS, WARRIORS!!! PLUS, My BIL's Mother -- DONNA MORTON ~ was out for a walk today and was hit by a car. She suffered a broken wrist (a re-injury which they can't operate on becuz of her age), has a sore back, and hit her head on the ground/road. She is quite shaken up; and was traumatized & frightened by the incident as she is 89 y/o. I know the lady who hit her feels terrible too. I need my temperatures to stay normal so that my BIL can go stay with his mother for a few days; then my sister will take me to the local hospital if that ever comes up while he is away. THANKS AGAIN ... |
Prayers going up for you, Rosebud, and your BIL's mom-very scary! Take good care of yourself and keep yourself protected from the bugs everywhere.
|
Prayers going out for you Rosebud . I'm praying hard that your fever goes away and stays normal and also that your BIL's mom feels better very soon. Gosh it could have been so much worse. ALso prayers for the lady who hit her... I'm sure she feels terrible.

New to this thread, but love all the positive energy. My dh and I have been struggling with our faith. He is a new Christian ( baptized two months ago!! hurray). I have been a Christian since childhood, but cannot say that I walked the walk.
Lately, now that our children are getting older and I am at a new stage in my life, I'm finding that God has been calling me to live better. Not just in how I eat or treat my body, but in how I raise my kiddos and how fruitful I am to the Kingdom of God. The Bible talks about fruitfulness and that faith without works is dead. I don't want to be cut off from the vine because I ignored the calling......I think about that a lot. My husband feels like he isn't good enough for God. He feels he is always falling short. I think we are under attack. I feel like we should be rejoicing and praising God for everything He has done in our lives. But instead, I seem to be living in fear and doubt. I would really appreciate some prayers. We have five kiddos two boys 7 & 11 and three girls 9, 10, and 12. Weight loss is going good for me. I feel more dedicated than ever. Sometimes I feel like I pour more energy into my vanity (weight) than I do God...... RoseBud- I will pray that your fever goes down and infection stays away. I will pray your platelet levels dropping don't cause a fever. God Bless. |
Rosebud, praying that chills and fever will go way and that your temp stays down. Praying that those platelets will not drop too low.
Praying that Donna will soon recover from her injuries. Gonna Get There Soon, Welcome ! Praying that you will be blessed in your Christian walk. |
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS ~ my temps stayed under 38.0 C today -- yay! My left calf is bothering me with swelling, redness, and soreness (I had broken it in the past). Either I have aggrivated it or the chemo is causing it, or both; so I am praying that it will heal completely, once and for all.
DONNA is still in the hospital for observation, but is doing well. The doctors also told her that it was a miracle that she wasn't hurt more. Her grand-daughter feels badly becuz she was going to drive her home but had to go somewhere, but her DAD tried to help her see that the accident wasn't her fault. We are praying that GOD will take away all fear & guilt, and give them all peace (including the young lady driver). :welcome: GONNAGETTHERESOON ~ Thanks for your prayers. So glad that you joined us here. That's another thing that is great about our GOD, he coaxes us along gently. Remember that all negativity comes from the world and youknowwho. Tell your DH that there are some easy things he can do for the LORD that don't cost any money or require any special skills -- anyone can share GOD'S LOVE with others; anyone can be a PRAYER WARRIOR; and anyone can be a CHRISTIAN ENCOURAGER. These three things only take a little bit of your time. Love can be shared by just a smile. Prayers only take a minute. Lifting up another Christian takes only a positive word. Plus as you and your DH are studying GOD's word, you can learn just how much GOD loves us all. Start with the book of JOHN -- there are many in there. GOD loves us in spite of our imperfections; and JESUS provided the way to wipe away all our stains. Once you take JESUS as your Savior, you become a part of the family of GOD; and you are under a special grace as His children. Read His word, do your best, and let GOD do the rest. Sending up prayers for you and your family for protection from oppression ... |
UPDATE ON DONNA ~ our information was a little off as can happen in these situations. Donna is finally home now, but apparently is in a lot of pain at this time. She has a lot of bruising on her body from the accident. She says the pain meds they gave her to take at home aren't helping (in the hospital she was on morphine), so she needs prayers for pain relief at this time.
I don't know why they won't give her something more substantial than tylenol since at 89 years old, she isn't likely to become a drug addict or anything like that -- and she is a Christian lady to boot. So, we'll ask the LORD to intervene on her behalf. The insurance has agreed to supply homecare help for her though -- Praise GOD! Thanks for your prayers. |
PRAYER REQUEST ~ we just received a call from my DAD concerning his wife, GRACE (SM) -- that her cancer has spread so quickly that she has to have her whole bladder and part of her liver removed very shortly. Needless to say my DAD is very worried about losing her (after losing one wife already); and his health has declined so much in the last year that he finds it difficult just to sweep the patio off. So GRACE needs prayers for a successful surgery and we will let you know when that will be; and my DAD could use comfort prayers at this time.
ALSO, we just received more GOOD NEWS that the insurance is going to pay the costs for DONNA to go into a special home to recover fully with 'round the clock care. We call it respite care here. Interestingly, it is the very same place that she had wanted to move into if she couldn't stay in her apartment anymore. When she is better, she can go back home again. :) I think as our family members age, their health is becoming more fragile and we all will need more prayers for them, so THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS -- they are very appreciated. |
Rosebud, keeping your entire family in prayer that Grace will have a successful surgery and be restored to health, that you Dad will find peace and comfort as well as strength.
Praising the Lord that Donna will have the care she needs and insurance will care for costs. |
THANKS BARGOO ~ I think you'd like to know that my DAD called himself to ask us to pray for GRACE; that is a significant spiritual leap for him. I know he believes (but plays it down at times) and has said the Salvation Prayer with GRACE; but before this, he would never ask for prayer. He would call and tell us their issues, and we would all tell him that we would pray for them and he would thank us. This is the first time he has called and asked for prayer; and he was obviously very distraught. GOD sometimes allows things to happen, and uses these circumstances, to encourage spiritual growth for everyone involved becuz HE loves us, but He is also very patient like a good Father should be ...
EDIT2ADD: BTW, thanks for your prayers for my legs -- they are feeling so much better today. They are still a bit swollen (the chemo makes that worse), but the pain has subsided. Can't tell you how much that helps. It seems whenever I come here and ask you all for prayers -- my symptoms get better. PRAISE GOD!!! :D |
Welcome to Gonna Get There Soon! Glad you found us! This is a great place for support & prayer.
Rosebud-prayers continuing for you and your Dad, Grace, and Donna. At times, I'm sure it seems as if you and your family have become targets of the evil one, doesn't it? I know we've felt that way over the last few years. I'll keep praying and praying. Prayers continue for all other requests also, especially Gary and family & Bargoo. God bless! I need a prayer or 2 myself-over the last week or so, I've been having new reactions to something I've eaten, including hives, dropping blood pressure, and heart palps, so I just need prayer to figure out what's causing it. I've narrowed it down to corn, chocolate, and almond milk, but need patience and help to figure out the next thing I have to eliminate. Thanks, everyone! |
THANKS RONNI -- yes, you could almost think that, couldn`t you? I shared with my sister and BIL that we are really being tested at this time. I really feel that GOD wants us all to learn to TRUST HIM during these tuff times. We know that they will come eventually, as we all have friends and loved ones that are aging and/ getting ill. It is sometimes hard to understand and accept though; many people, Christians included, seem to think that bad things won`t happen to us. The truth is that they will -- JESUS, himself, warned us of that; but HE also promised that HE would be with us through these trials. HE will also answer our prayers as well: in some way, one way or another, they will be answered! HE IS FAITHFUL & TRUE!
I know my BIL said tonight that with so many calls with bad news, he was a bit depressed, so we all are praying for him too. Actually, we have also heard lots of good news too, so we have to learn to focus on the positive as well. This reminds me of the Israelites in the wilderness; what will you focus on? The negative or the miracles of GOD? It is obvious GOD has not abandoned us; HE is still answering our prayers. His daughter wanted to know why GOD allowed her grandmother to be hit by a car; that`s a tuffy, isn`t it? Well, circumstances came into play there, but thank goodness, her injuries were mild. Our prayers for her were answered; turns out she did have stronger pain meds, but just hadn`t been given them yet. MORE GOOD NEWS -- Another one is that our nephew, JOSHUA, is well again and back at home; my DAD talked to him yesterday on the phone. We`ve been hanging on threads here so will have a talk with my sister about that; I know she was really worried about him. She felt so bad becuz she had thought that he just had a bad stomach flu like his Dad had at the time. PRAIZE GOD, he was in the hospital when the appendix burst and he received immediate care. He`s a real sweetie that one; and we are so thankful he is OK!!! Also, DONNA is out of the hospital and at her daughters house. She is going home tomorrow and they will be arranging for a homecare nurse to go in to help her with personal care, etc. BIL will be going down to see her this coming weekend. More GOOD NEWS!!! I see all the positives and answered prayers here. As for GRACE, she is the one who has been deciding on her care, but now the doctors say that they must take the bladder and part of the liver out. My DAD is worried and that is understandable; but we have to have the same faith that GRACE has -- she has put it all in the LORD`s hands. She has been a strong Christian all her life and has a lot of faith. She also accepts GOD`s will in her life and circumstances. Like you, now we just pray and pray and pray ... :) Praying for you too -- that you will find out what food is giving you that allergic reaction; and that you will heal soon. And, ^PRAYERS^ for everyone else continue, as always ... |
I praise God for the good reports and continue prayers for the needs of each and everyone.
|
I just read on Gary's Facebook page that he went home to be with our Lord tonight. My heart is heavy with sadness. RIP Gary, we will always remember you. My prayers are with Angie and her family tonight.
|
RIP Gary. God bless Angie and their family. So sad for them.
|
Rest in peace, Gary. Our thoughts are with Angie and your loving family.
|
Godspeed, EZ. You will be missed. Sending love and prayers to Angie and the kids.
|
So sorry to hear of Gary's leaving us. I won't say we lost him because we are blessed to know that he is home with Jesus, but he will be missed. He is such a precious man and we love him. Now our prayers go out to Angie and family for our Father to comfort them and give them peace. So difficult to have to give up a mate, parent etc and the pain we feel is so deep. However, the wonderful memories they leave with us lives on in our hearts forever. I am thankful for the opportunity of knowing him here on this thread and the way he touched my heart spiritually.
I had not said anything before because I didn't want to discourage anyone. But the precious man in our church who Gary reminded me of so also went home to be with the Lord about a month ago. Two of our precious brothers no longer in pain and rejoicing with the Lord today in Heaven. GOD IS STILL GOOD!!! Prayers continue for all. |
Rest in peace, Gary. Prayers continue for Angie and their whole family. We loved Gary. He was such an inspiration here and will be missed by all of us. My heart is heavy, but I know he fought the good fight and is home now with his Savior. One day, we will all meet in person and be able to rejoice together, but, for now, we mourn for his loss and pray for his family.
|
I don't post here often but follow the thread. God Bless Angie and the family...rest in peace Gary.
|
I too have been following from the sidelines once I heard about Gary's illness. I wish him peace at last and hope that somehow his family and friends will be able to overcome their grief and take comfort in the memories of this wonderful guy who touched so many of us. I didn't always agree with him but you could see that he loved a good chuckle and was the picture of encouragement and comfort with a heart as big as can be. We could use a few more Garys in this world.
|
My heart is heavy today with Gary's passing but I take comfort that Gary is in the arms of our precious saviour.
I pray that the family that he cherished so much will find peace. |
I am saddened to hear of Gary's passing. He was such a presence here, especially in these prayer threads. My thoughts and prayers are with his family today.
|
Indeed, our friend GARY, had a huge presence here ~ many people loved him and were blessed for knowing him. While we are sad to see him go, we rejoice that he is with our LORD (as he is), and at peace. Still sending up ^Prayers^ for ANGIE and their entire family & all those who loved him & will miss him. GOD'S will was done, as GARY would wish; for now our friend does not suffer, but rejoices forever -- PRAISE GOD!
EDIT2ADD: as someone else said, we look forward to the day that we will meet GARY in person in heaven above. He had mentioned that to me once a long time ago ... We will miss him here: he was a Prayer Warrior (he started the thread), a Christian Warrior, a Family Warrior, a Church Warrior, and a Brave Cancer Warrior -- and he will be remembered for his great sense of humor, and for his love for others too! :D *** LEANING ON THE EVERLASTING ARMS *** What a fellowship, what a joy divine Leaning on the everlasting arms What a blessedness, what a peace is mine Leaning on the everlasting arms. -- CHORUS -- L e a n i n g ... l e a n i n g Safe and secure from all alarms L e a n i n g ... l e a n i n g Leaning on the (His) everlasting arms! Oh how sweet to walk, in this pilgrams way (While) Leaning on the everlasting arms Oh how bright the path, grows from day to day Leaning on the everlasting arms. -- CHORUS -- What have I to dread, what have I to fear, (While) Leaning on the everlasting arms I have blessed peace, with my Lord so near Leaning on the everlasting arms. -- CHORUS -- L e a n i n g ... l e a n i n g Safe and secure from all alarms L e a n i n g ... l e a n i n g Leaning on His everlasting arms! |

Thanks for sharing that with us Rosebud. Those words means so much

Angie here:
Thank you all so much for your prayers these past months during Gary's battle with cancer. He fought to the end, but finally was able to let go and pass into the arms of our Savior. He passed very peacefully at home surrounded with his family. This maybe very forward of me, but I've had many people ask... I have set up a webpage for donations to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Gary and I have participated in this event for the past three years. This year I participate without him. It's going to be tough. If you'd like to make a donation in Gary's memory, let me know and I will send you the link. |
Angie-
Thanks for the update. I would be interested in the Relay for Life link. I'll be keeping you and your family in my prayers. God Bless- Dee |
Angie-I'm also interested in the link. We've been supporters of the Relay for Life in the past and would love to give in honor of Gary. God bless you and your family. You're in my prayers.
|
ANGIE ~ thanks so much for coming by and filling us in at this time. Sending up ^prayers^ for you and your family as well ...
|
Angie, I appreciate you taking the time to keep us posted. I saw your Relay For Life on Facebook and I do intend to donate.

Above is the link to The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Gary and I walked the 2am to 4am shift of this relay for the past 3 years-- we were the only ones crazy enough to take that shift. It was actually kind of fun... It will be lonely doing it without him this year, but I'm sure his kids and most of the rest of his family will join me. I cannot begin to thank you all for your prayers and support these past months. It has really meant a lot to me and to Gary. 3FC was a big part of Gary's life for the past 11+ years. He used to joke that he was a "yoga widower". There were times when I thought I was a "3FC widow"!! |

^Prayers^ will continue for you all, esp during that Relay for Cancer. What day is that held in the US? We have them up here in Canada too and even in our little town. I wonder if it is held on the same day. Several of our family members have had cancer -- both parents & Aunts & Uncles: some are survivors, some were blessed with extended lives, and some have gone home. Our lives have been touched by this disease a lot (starting with our mother when I was 17 y/o), including myself and our friend, BARGOO here plus many others (and GARY & his family too). It seems almost every week that I receive an email about someone else we know that is battling the big "C" and needs prayers ... So, my DH & I have supported the Cancer Society and the run in the past; and plan to again. Who knows -- maybe some day I could even participate a little as my walking gets better. I look forward to it. In the meanwhile, we'll do what we can ... BTW, EVERYONE ~ we will be going to the city tomorrow for my chemo exam/tests; if all is well, we will go back the next day (Tuesday, April 16, 2013) for my #3 round of CHEMO. I would really appreciate prayers for travel mercies and that my blood platelets are OK; and of course for the Chemo Day itself. Thanks so much ... |
Angie, thank you for sharing Gary with us. He has been a great blessing to me and also has given me some good laughs. I have admired his Christian Testimony and his devotion to his family. God Bless you and your family .
|
I never knew Gary personally but knew his soul over the internet. A wonderful soul he had and now lives with our Lord Jesus. My heart cries for his soul was and is always my friend. He as Rosebud picked me up a many of times with their unconditional love , thank you Lord for bringing Gary and all here into my life and making a good difference in my life. God bless you all. Thank you Lord for sharing good people, you love, with me and others. Will miss you Gary but got a feeling, your helping the Lord by looking over all your family and this site, your workers, friends and guiding with wisdom and insight and Jesus love. You truly made a good difference in my life.

Praying tonight for those injured in Boston, and praying for family and loved ones of those that died.
|
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the people and runners that were injured in Boston today. So very sad!
|
BOOTSIE & BARGOO ~ beautiful thoughts and sentiments about GARY for which we agree wholeheartedly. I also believe that he and others who have passed over may very likely work with our LORD and angels to pass on wisdom & help to family, friends, co-workers, and favorite causes, etc.
I have had dreams that indicate that this is so; and I know that is what I would want to be doing when I pass over to the next realm -- helping others even more with the amazing insight and awesome power that GOD will share with us when we are there. Oh, what possibilities ... We went to my exam today and it's a go for CHEMO ROUND #3 tomorrow at 8 am 'til early afternoon. Boy, we have to get up really early for this one, but early in, also means, early out too. My blood platelets are still a bit low -- 109 and normal is 150; but I can still have the chemo if they are over 100 but my oncologist is adjusting the meds again by 10% to try and compensate for that and to see if it helps. Would appreciate prayers for travel mercies; and that my blood platelets stay up better this time. Plus that all other side effects are minimal, esp no fever, infections, viruses, and nausea, etc. I am so grateful for all your support and prayers -- and I know they are helping. Thank you all so much ... |
Heavenly Father.grant Rosebud a safe trip to her chemo session. I ask , too that her blood platelets do not fall to low so that she may have her chemo.Asking that her chemo will not cause her a lot of side effects, no fever or infections or nausea. Asking this in the precious name of Jesus.

My heart is sad today coming here and reading about Gary's passing, EZ, may you rest in peace my friend. I will miss his chatter around the boards, he was such a great family guy, funny, kind, caring, spiritual, personable guy & he always made me smile & laugh on this forum, he called me "Evil" and I will always remember him dearly with fond memories! Angie my deepest sympathies to you & yours, God bless. In honor of the 5k, I will wear my comfiest biker boots & do a long walk in memory of dear Gary, being he liked my style in boots, these boots were made for walking! When I am done with my walk, I will stop by a bar for a cold brewski taking one for team Gary! I miss you already bud, RIP.
Whether it be a man or a woman suffering with a terminal illness, this is a neat story for all the spiritual folks here & I thought I would share it with all of you. ______________________________________ Woman and the Fork There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things 'in order,' she contacted her Pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in. Everything was in order and the Pastor was preparing to leave when the young woman suddenly remembered something very important to her. 'There's one more thing,' she said excitedly.. 'What's that?' came the Pastor's reply? 'This is very important,' the young woman continued. 'I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand.' The Pastor stood looking at the young woman, not knowing quite what to say. That surprises you, doesn't it?' the young woman asked. 'Well, to be honest, I'm puzzled by the request,' said the Pastor. The young woman explained. 'My grandmother once told me this story, and from that time on I have always tried to pass along its message to those I love and those who are in need of encouragement. In all my years of attending socials and dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, 'Keep your fork.' It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming...like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and with substance!' So, I just want people to see me there in that casket with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder 'What's with the fork?' Then I want you to tell them: 'Keep your fork ..the best is yet to come.' The Pastor's eyes welled up with tears of joy as he hugged the young woman good-bye. He knew this would be one of the last times he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the young woman had a better grasp of heaven than he did. She had a better grasp of what heaven would be like than many people twice her age, with twice as much experience and knowledge. She KNEW that something better was coming. At the funeral people were walking by the young woman's casket and they saw the cloak she was wearing and the fork placed in her right hand. Over and over, the Pastor heard the question, 'What's with the fork?' And over and over he smiled. During his message, the Pastor told the people of the conversation he had with the young woman shortly before she died. He also told them about the fork and about what it symbolized to her. He told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either. He was right. So the next time you reach down for your fork let it remind you, ever so gently, that the best is yet to come. Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. Cherish the time you have, and the memories you share. Being friends with someone is not an opportunity, but a sweet responsibility. Send this to everyone you consider a FRIEND...and I'll bet this will be an Email they do remember, every time they pick up a fork! And just remember...keep your fork! The BEST is yet to come! God Bless You |
