By the way...I sent this to all of my e-mail friends...maybe one of ya'll could help...I don't have a clue. I've been told to stay away from dell...i don't know.

Hi everyone,
I am in need of a laptop and I don't have a CLUE as to what I need/best way to buy one/company...etc.

I need it mostly for school, so I will need office and wireless. I want it to have plenty of memory and hard-drive. i'm completely illiterate on this...but i don't want to spend a small fortune, I don't have it TO spend. But i have papers to write and i need to be working during the day and I can't take over susie's computer at night forever...

I killed my last one...I learned my lesson.

Any help?

Thank you

Of course...the continuing prayers are great too!!!

Good Morning, Everyone! Well, we managed to fix the furnace last night with a loaner fan to get us through, but will have to buy a new HVAC system, as this one is older than we were led to believe from the disclosure when we bought the house (never believe an Iowa disclosure-no buyer protection, so no one tells the truth on them) and there are not replacement parts available anymore. Oh, well, I guess we'd have just spent the money on something like a vacation or something fun!!!Oh, well, that's my little:tantrum: But, one good side is that I got every bit of laundry done, since DH has the dryer vented inside the house, so we could heat the house all day with that! Also, got to roast a chicken and veggies and heat with the oven, as well as heat from lots of candles making the place smell so sweet!:D

Rosebud-prayers said for your DH. Shoulder pain's no fun at all.

Bev- way to go on the exam:woohoo:As far as computers, we always buy Macs. They are more $$, but we've been very blessed with very few repairs or other issues in the 15 years we've had a computer. We did buy our only laptop last year off eBay. It was a reconditioned one and has a problem now, but we sure didn't pay much for it compared to new, so we're just going to see if it can be repaired.

Annie-Rose-you brave woman! A vice-principal. I don't think I have the patience to have your job:lol: Prayers that the busy time settles down and you have more time to plan out meals and such:hug:

Hello and prayers for everyone else, too! God bless you all and have a great day!

I have a Gateway laptop and it has served me well, I have Word and wireless I have had this one about 3 years ,now and it is still going strong. I got at BestBuy and cost $493.00 with tax,of course they were having a big sale at the time. I am satisfied with it. I have had desktops and basically wanted a laptop because they take up a lot less room in a small apartment.

Hey there

Rosebud, thank you so much for the prayers. Yes, I am trying to stay in good spirits, and with God's help I am. Things could have been so much worse, but oh for the Grace of God, He has saved me in more ways than one.:cheer2: THANK YOU JESUS!!!!

Bev, did you doubt me. I told you that you were going to do great, that God was in control. And what did you do "GREAT", nothing but GREATNESS for God's children:dance: And you are surely God's child.

Bev, please, please do come to Virginia, I would be so happy and honored to meet you, but if we nener do, you are my friend.:carrot: You are so amazing to me, so bright and so in tune to God's words and how to apply them. Your posts make me smile.

All of you guy and gals together are such inspirations to me. You keep me charged, you are my FAMILY. All of you, since you make up the Body of Christ, what a wonderful body it is, I am so glad to be a part of it with you.

It is raining here today, but I see sunshine. Little update Malachi is doing fine. Lots of smiling and laughing. Thanks for the prayers.

Laurie, how are you today? Sometimes I type so much, I forget what I read. Just old age kickin' in I guess.

Well hello to all, if I did not call all names, you are here in my heart. Be back later today.

Hugs ans Kisses,
Aggie

Gary - way cool about having guys in Angie's class! Congratulate her on such good attendance :) As you know my DIL is a certified yoga instructor and DS1 (her hubby) will graduate from seminary this spring. So you KNOW how I feel about yoga and Christianity.

And of course, I'm a devoted yoga fan as well :) Did a session today after work in fact

Aggie - LOL - keep the good attitude going. Once that cast is off, the scale WILL reflect those 2 lbs!

Bev - :congrat: on the stats grade! FANTASTIC!!!!! How exciting that it is OVER!

Rosebud - prayers ascending for you DH. I hope he is feeling better soon!

Annie-Rose - our week at school has been insane too! I can't wait for spring break! Even though I will be working through it, the district is soooo quiet :)

Ronni - sorry about the furnace. Houses seem to suck up every extra dollar, don't they? We bought a new furnace 2 years ago, and we are planning on a new roof this summer. Maybe you can still plan a less expensive vacation. I have found that some of my favorite vacations were inexpensive and close to home. Sometimes, just a change of scenery is enough :)

Laptop brands? I actually like Dell. We buy mostly HP and Dell for school. At home we have Averatec, Toshiba, HP, and IBM. All work well. If you aren't handy with computer repair - particularly laptops - I would buy locally where you can get support, or pick a brand where you trust the support folk.

A good day here - very balanced! Work went well, and I met friends afterward for a quick  My new (to me) jeans that I found on ebay came and they fit PERFECTLY! I'm excited! Jeans have always been my nemesis. I'm curvy and short - not good things to be when looking for Jeans. The DKNY jeans are the first pair that look good and are comfortable :woohoo:

Hope you all have a blessed weekend! Prayers continuing for each of you. I feel so blessed that spring is finally coming!

Oh, and I agree with the job advice in Rosebud's link. We are hiring a new techie right now and there are several vacant positions at the hospital right now as well.

Who knew when we chose our careers 30 years ago (pharmacist and techie) that we would be so blessed to have stable jobs in tumultuous times? Well, God did of course ;) Definitely some divine guidance in our lives over the years!!!!

EZMONEY 03-13-2009 07:23 PM

:) Is this a great group or what?

Sprains....falls...jeans...yoga....jobs....kids... .talapia....men!...heating and air conditioning issues....prayers....

No place else I would rather be....

colormerd47 03-13-2009 11:05 PM

:cool:Hi guys,

Annie-Rose, I will be sending up special prayers just for you, a Vice Principal, you are brave, so very BRAVE, you go girl.:carrot:

Bev, I have always had a Dell and we love it. If you have a Costco there, go, they are very informative on there products and thry stand behind them. My daughter Ivory works in the sales dept. at ours and I will ask the best one we have. There are good also, and they have the best return policy.;) Yeah, yeah, I work there too and I really love the products and their policies, one of the reasons I work there:)

Ronni, I am so glad you got that furnace fixed, are you warm and toasty :flame:now. Just think in the mist of the storm you sure got alot done. God is Good all the time, and all the time God is Good.

Bargo, how's it going? Hope blessing are all over you.

Rosebud, is that DH doing better? :) I know he is cause God answers prayers.

Counting, what do you do in the school system? I believe anyone who works in the schools are really special folks, so you get a double dose.:dancer:

Gary, you are so right, what a great group, and you are right there at the TOP. So glad I found all of you. What a BLESSING!!!!!

Oh Rosebud, I have got lots of meds, I can share...LOL Just kidding, but thry are really working for me.

Okay dude and dudettes, have a peaceful slumber and Jpy cometh in the morning.

Rayne 03-14-2009 02:25 AM

All of you just brighten my day! I look forward to getting on here and feeling the love! it's TOTALLY AWESOME! THANK you ALL for the congratulations on the final...whew! glad that is over...

And thanks for all the help on a laptop. I have a couple of friends that have offered to look at the dead one...one is free (and he's an atheist!-he said maybe it's like the Princess Bride-'just mostly dead') and the other will be ~130 (he's a missionary). Which one to choose? hmmm... :D i am pretty sure which way God is directing...

Aggie - you are a TRIP! ooopssss... no pun intended! :) yikes. I am so glad you are here! YOU ROCK! :carrot: I'm glad you are feeling better too. Me? in tune and how to apply? hmmm...ok if you say so! :) if you only knew me everyday...at least that's the voice in my head lately when i am ministering to someone...or at the shelter preaching. telling me i don't belong, not good enough, it's crazy. i know its not true...but the voice is there.

I saw Madea goes to jail today! IT WAS HYSTERICAL!!!!!! It's really cool living in the atl metro area because we can always look and figure out where it was filmed. some of this was right up the street from the first house my parents bought when i was 6 months old. it had a good story in it along with the funny, as usual. The preacher lady in it really spoke to me and reminded me of my original vision to get women off the streets and out of the strip clubs. She reminded me of me too...blunt, but compassionate.

A friend, my mustang buddy - who will be teaching me how to weld that joker on saturday! - called yesterday to tell me of a lyric he heard from a band called Monster Magnet...he said it sounded like me..."blunt and to the point...totally you": "People go to bed with lucifer and they cry when they don't greet the day with God". how true...

Well, peace and i love you all more than you can know!

Rayne 03-14-2009 02:33 AM

OH! I forgot...we had the service at the shelter tonight. I talked on forgiveness...again. This time I got something different out of it. "Be still and know that I AM GOD." To know in that sense is intimacy. To know His breath, His touch, His smell, His character, His thoughts...the way you know someone with whom you are intimate. In this case, to know INTIMATELY that HE IS...everything, has everything, is taking care of everything, got it figured out...working it out...GOD...the one and the only. THe alpha and the omega. the beginning and the end...of YOU! He started you, He will finish you in perfection. Nothing that happens surprises Him. But when we aren't STILL...we get in His way! Be Still and KNOW that He has it! He is the ONE that created the universe...can't He handle your silly problems?

HE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Jesus for believing in me when I have trouble believing in myself. Thank you for blessing me and teaching me how to bless others. I love you and I will wait on my husband, my home, my family, those that I pray for daily, those that I forget sometimes...I will be still and know that YOU have it. that YOU ARE GOD! omnipotent, omnipresent...YOU ARE ALL! All energy and love comes from and thru You. I sit and bask in the knowledge that You loved me enough to come here as a man and die so that I could love You forever. thank you Jesus!

colormerd47 03-14-2009 06:12 PM

I was coming to each of you asking for prayers for my whole family. A very very close, might as well have family, friend was killed yesterday around 4:30. He was my DD#2 ex-boyfriend. His name was Lou and he was 42. He was at home baby sitting a little 5 year old boy, when guys broke into his home with intent to rob him, when he did not co-operate, they shot him and left him on the backporch. The little boy was not harmed and police have not figured out if the little boy saw all that happened. The boy's mother found Lou when she came to pick up her son. Here is the second kicker of this story, Ashlan, my DD, would have been there but she could not get off from work in time. THANK YOU JESUS!!!! She had called him , but with response, she just figured he was not at home. God just saved my daughter's LIFE. She did not find out what had happened until last night when we called her. We recieved the call first. God is good, my grandson, JESUS had just spent last weekend with him. God has protected mine, (HIS) and I thank Him for it. We will miss him so badly. Lou would have given anyone the shirt off of his back if needed and fed all. Pray for the little boy and Lou's family as well. He had an only daughter of 14.

Bev, I read your post and I heard your post and it has taken up root in my heart and it has helped me. You blew my socks off without even knowing it. See how God uses you to touch the lives of others. You have touched mine. Thank You.

Oh yeah, Madea ROCKS

Love you guys and I will return later.

THANKS AGGIE ~ DH went to the hospital this morning and they gave him some pain meds so that he could sleep, but he is feeling better. As long as he doesn't move is too quickly, but sleeping can be difficult for a shoulder as it's hard to find a comfortable position. So ... he should sleep like a baby tonight!

LAURIE ~ thanks, just trying to help a bit. DH and I were saying how the younger ones here (in Canada anyways) almost have their pick of jobs with so many babyboomers retiring early or getting ready to retire soon. Wasn't so when I hit the workforce in the early 80's during a bad recession. So ... for the kids in the U.S., it might be wise to choose their careers carefully. We're praying everyone can weather this one out, even if it means they have to start over fresh.

Thanks for all your prayers for DH ~ you're all in mine too! PS ~ here's a funny pic of DH wearing the hat I got him for Christmas 2008; he says that he looks like a 'flying nun' ... I said 'no, you look like a flying squirrel ~ lol' ... hehe; but, he loves it!

Aggie - I am a techie. I work with software, train teachers, manage all of the state and federal and common assessments and data and reports for the district. I have an office in the junior high, and another in the central administration building.

Bev - welding? OH MY - you are awesome girl!

Aggie - prayers ascending. What a horrible experience for a child! May God's love and care surround everyone involved!

Prayers continuing for each and everyone!

Blessings!

Laurie

Laurie, you have a huge job. I bet it can be stressful at times, but you seem to be a person that can handle it. You always give great advice to others so I know that you take your own. Awesome job, [I] would be lost. You go girl. Hey looking at your ticker, it looks as though you have met your goal. What an awesome job.:carrot::carrot: You are yet another inspiration to me. Thanks:hug:

Aggie
