Hello again!!
Barbara: I sure don't know an easy way to get started. For about the first week or two I had to begrudginly force myself to get off my butt and do it. After that it kind of became routine and habit. I just didn't feel as good throughout the day without it. It really gets me up and going. It's good that you have more than one video. Variation is important to stay motivated. When I started exercising last year, I only had two TaeBo videos. After four months I was burned out and bored and just quit doing it. Now that I'm back on the wagon I'm beginning to accumulate more videos for a better variety. And WAY TO GO with quitting smoking. I still have yet to do that. It seems so ironic if not just plain stupid to be eating right and exercising to get in shape, but still smoke. However I just can't seem to let it go. Can I ask how you did it?? Did you wean off or quit cold turkey and did you use a patch or gum or anything?? Whatever the case..good for you!! I KNOW it had to be hard. And Mooz is right about the kick in the butt. In fact, I love giving kicks in the butt. Here's one now.... *KICK* How was that?? I really went gung-ho today on the exercise. I did 30 minutes aerobics, the 8-minute Tae Bo, AND 10 minutes of strengthening exercise weights (fairly light ones, want to buy bigger ones). I impressed myself!! If I can keep this up, I should look pretty dang good at my hubby's boot camp graduation in May! I'm off to the shower now. Hope everyone has a great day!! Jen  |
Welcome Barb from NJ. I just looked at your profile and boy have you come to the right thread. I see we have another QVC Queen amoung us! ;) Tell me are you Blonde? (the joke behind that question is that most of us here are blonde "out of a bottle" that is)
I bought the QVC TaeBo pack about a year ago but I returned it because I just couldn't do the moves. Then later I purchased the instructional tape just to give it another try and have been happy moving from that point to the basic tapes. If you did not get instructional tape I would suggest picking that one up because you get the correct form which I had to have to get the hang of it. Anyone agree or disagree with that statement? It may have been harder for me than the average person tho because I have two left feet..... Keep us posted on how it's going. Anne: so how'd you do on the first trip trough the video? If you breezed through it, I'm really going to be :o ing. I thought it was tough at first, but is getting easier. Jen: Still awake? Patty: we are waiting with crossed fingers on your weigh in. Gotta run. |
Good Evening Ladies
I'm sorry I did not get to check in earlier, it was another busy day... this time I was trying to get some things done because i'm taking off tomorrow..I'm heading to Austin, TX to meet with 10 of my cousins who are coming from San Antonio, TX... we're having our 1st girls reunion, with no kids, no husbands. We had thought about having something in SA, but they wanted to get out of town. My cousins said if it was to convient the kids would be calling them the whole time. So me and my sisters are taking off tomorrow & driving down. It about a 4 hour drive. OK, but about my weigh in... I gained .8 lbs... but i'm not too worried because I know I have stayed OP & i know wed. night i ate some pretzels that were pretty salty..I wasn't thinking how they would effect my weigh in. But here the hard part... road trips to me in the past have always been chips & candy in the car...it's was always a time for junk food... Then in the hotel, we were planning on visiting in one of the suites...so for that i'm bringing pretzels, lowcal chips, picante sauce (lowcal) & about 4 gals of water. I think one of my cousins was going to bring a veggie tray, I'll just have to stay away from the dips & liquor. Welcome Barbara - My advise is exercise at your own pace. If it goes to fast or you don't know the moves, just walk in place. Also if you have the instructional tape be sure & watch it a few times. Semo - I tried yoga a few years ago & it was really hard. But afterwords I felt much better. I also learned several stretching techniques. Jen - Good for you on the exercise. I agree with you on the smoking, but I think you should focus on one thing at a time. If you try and do too much, I think you would be stressing yourself out too much... Focus on your eating & exercise, & after a while, you could focus on the smoking.. Anne - I'm glad your journaling, let's see how you do at next week's weigh in. Well I have to run.. I need to do some laundry.. I'll talk to you all sunday nite... Have a great weekend. |
Good morning ladies.
Well after two beautiful days it is wet and windy here in Ireland :( I think it is harder to get motivated when the weather is miserable. Semo: I found the Tae Bo tape 2 was not too difficult to follow and don't you be feeling too bad about that because it will take me a while to perfect the moves (like you and the others have) and I used to go to aerobics classes and then for the past 7 years linedancing twice each week so I am used to doing quick movements  Patty: You have a good day and you have done the right thing in preparing for what you eat and if you do have too good a day in the food department you will get right back on track as soon as you get home :strong: Jen: Hope you had a better nights's sleep last night  What weight do you lift? I do weights at home but just about 10 minutes three times each week. I lift 7 pound weights. I started doing it after reading 'Strong women stay slim' Barb: Hope you are getting motivated to start your Tae Bo - stay with us and you will as I find it really helps to call here every day and say how your getting on and find out how everyone else is doing. We are all in the same boat. Anne |
Semo - sorry I keep talking about Tae Bo tape 2 but it is only Tae Bo tape 1 I am doing so that is the first one after the instructional:o
Talk to you all later Anne |
why hello!! You ladies are running circles around me. I wonder how many exercise points are burned up in typing 100 wpm??
LOL!! I have been working 12 hours a day. We have to enter our patient info into our new computer system. And being the only ob-gyn practice in town, we are talking about 21,000 women. Mercy sakes! I Welcome to all the people who popped in while I was at work or in bed LOL!! Well, TGIF! I need to workout about 4 times this weekend just to make up for this week. I am trying to stay OP as far as food goes, but just am not getting my exercise. Does WALKING over to the Taco John's and getting my lunch count? Well, I must be off, have to make my menu for the next two weeks, as tomorrow is grocery day. I will talk to everyone soon!! buh bye Lauri |
Happy Friday Morning. I was up at 5:00 this AM doing my TaeBo. (Told ya I was a morning person) and have already drank 1 liter of water. The weather is warm here but calling for rain later today and the weekend. Work is picking up and won't be long until we are working 7 days a week (I am so NOT ready for this).
I ate like a pig yesterday, don't know what up with that. I'm begining to wonder if it's because of all the vitamins that I am remembering to take. I've got to get control. Patty, a girls weekend out, sounds like so much fun! Hope you have a great time. Three weeks on program WOOHOO! :strong: :strong: :strong: I tend to retain when I eat salty foods to but it will show up next week. Lauri, OMGoodness I feel for you. It will be much better when you get everything up and running. ps. And I'm pretty sure typing burns 1,000 calories per hour. ;) Mooz, there has been a lot of stuff on TV about Ireland this week, most I think because of St Patty's day coming up. Prictures are beautiful. I've only been out of the US once and that was to Canada. Jen, are you staying motivated. I have a vague memories of babies getting up at all hours of the night and how tired it makes you feel. But believe it or not someday you'll miss all that and it won't be long (they grow up TOO fast). Barbara, how's it going. Don't give up and keep posting. Every small improvement will add up. Back to work and will check back later. Have a OP day! |
re: TaeBo
Hi everyone!
Jen: I quit cold turkey on Feb. 18th. I tried quitting several other times but didnt last long. Maybe this time I really wanted it. So far so good! I found an online support group for that and it helps immensely! You would be surprised. My Mother has all kinds of health problems..CHF being one of them. I think she is on about 9 or 10 days of no smoking..I got her to join the group as well. If anyone is interested let me know..I will give the info! SEMO-- LMAO about QVC! I love them! No I am not a blonde...I am a redhead (lots of golden blonde in my hair, though). However, I am kind of ditzy at times like a blonde..LOL! I remember when I ordered the tapes, the instructional tape was offered to me, but I declined. SHOOT!!! I think I did that instructional one (part of it anyhow) time..I had borrowed it from the library! Ouch! My glutes really were sore just from a half hearted attempt at trying to learn it just once! I will have to get that tape I guess. Patty--Have fun on your trip! I wish I had some female relatives to hang out with and get together every now & then! How long has everyone been doing the TaeBo? Also, how long does it take for one to get "ADDICTED" to exercise? I didnt do the TaeBo this morning when I got home from work and after grocery shopping, but I did do the Leslie Sansone indoor walking tape...BABY STEPS FOR ME I THINK!! Seriously, if my son is not here this weekend, I think I will give it a try tomorrow morning when I get home from work. I will let you all know if I do!! Have a super day every one! Barbara in NJ |
SEMO: WOW!! You really are a morning person. I took the kids to grandmas last night so I could get some sleep. I slept in until 9:30 this morning, although I didn't get to bed until 1:30. It was just nice to sleep without little feet in my back at 4am!
I think the lack of sleep might help motivate me. Doing the exercise seems to be the only way i can wake up and get the blood pumping. I often just don't feel like doing it, but when I am done, I'm glad I did. Barbara: I guess I am still just not ready. I have to get that way though. My husband HAD to quit when he went off to boot camp. I told him that I would quit too before too long. I'd better do it, cuz I'll feel terrible if he picks it up again because I didn't quit. I know I should do it for my own health. But I just don't WANT to yet. I will be looking towards doing it soon though. I would love to have the information for the support group. I believe that would be of huge help. After all, coming to this message board for support has been a phenominal help for my weight loss. You need to have people that KNOW what you're going through and are going through it with you. Friends and family try to be helpful and supportive, but when they are non-smokers, they just don't have any concept of what its like. Just like people who have always been naturally thin can't possibly understand what we go through. My email is [email protected] 1Day?? Laurie?? Where are you??? Come out, come out wherever you are!! :D Anyhoo, gonna go do my exercise before the kids get back. It will be nice to do it without tripping over them or having to stop because somebody spilled juice on the carpet! Oh yeah....BTW... I weighed in this morning and have lost 2 pounds for the week. Talk at ya later, Jen  |
OOPS!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I didn't scroll far enough. There you are Lauri :dizzy: !!! Sure walking to taco Johns for lunch counts...as long as you don't eat the lunch!
Mooz: I am going to start with 5 pound weights that I picked up at Walmart last night. I ordered a video to help me along. I've never done anything with weights and I don't want to pull any muscles doing it wrong. :o 1Day: Good luck on the road trip. And yes, salty foods WILL affect a weigh in. I know I was eating a lot of fat free chips for a few days, but the salt made me retain a TON of water. It'll come off for your next weigh in. OK...NOW I think I got everyone!! Jen  |
Jen, I quit smoking about 4 years ago and I did it cold turkey too. The only advice that I can give you is to tell what helped me. I cut drinking straws about the length of a cigarette and chewed on them when I felt the urge to smoke. (it was quite a lot at first) Some days my jaws would actually hurt but it seemed to help get over the need to have something to do with my hands. Good luck, it's not easy but once you set your mind to it you can do it. I've heard that patches help, but again I've never tried them. Hmmm I wonder if the straws would help with eating?
|
SEMO: No go on the patches for me. My skin is sensitive and something in the adhesive set off a reaction. I broke out in hives. That was several years ago. I have tried just about all the popular methods, but failed. The one thing I haven't tried yet is that Zyban and I've heard nothing but good things about it. As soon as I can get health coverage, I am going to ask a doc about getting on that.
Anyhoo, after I wrote that last post I was all geared up to exercise. But when I got up out of this chair, my back tweaked again. I thought maybe if I moved around it would work itself out. After 15 minutes of akward aerobics, I decided that wasn't going to do it. I'm still hurting a bit. I REALLY hope it is better in the morning. I'm on a roll here!! Well, I'll talk at ya all later. I'm am tired and off to bed. G'nite, Jen  |
ladies!!
Well, Jehari, I am glad you saw me, I was beginning to get a complex! I mean, I know I'm losing weight, but not so much that I was becoming invisible! LOL!! Today is grocery day. I used to hate grocery shopping. Now it's kind of fun. Do you all like it? I plan my menu for two weeks and have at it. I have found lots of good low fat recipes here at this web site and all over the web. oh, and as for being an expert at Tae Bo,, cough, cough. LOL!! I don't EVER see that happening. But I figure as long as I have my a** moving in some form or another, I am doing ok. Gotta go make my grocery list. I am having Lamb Stew tomorrow for St Paddy's day. mmm mmm Provided I can actually find Lamb out here in Beef country! ;) After I shop today I will have my bottom planted to watch NCAA basketball all day. I am a Hoosier at heart, but the Wyoming cowboys are worth watching this year! You all have a great day! Patty, whatcha doin? ;-) Lauri |
Geez, I almost forgot my original reason for posting. I started smoking in 1974 (I was only 14) and quit in 1988 when I found out I was pregnant with my older son. I quit cold turkey as well, but since I was pregnant I also gave up caffeine and beer, which were when I smoked the most. I also took up cross stitch and crochet to keep my hands busy. Plus when you are working on something like that you don't want to smoke and get it all mucked up. I DO have one giant alphabet sampler in my living room with a chocolate stain on it that only I know about LOL!!
Had an M&M thing going on at the time... Melted in my hand  later girls lauri |
Hello ladies. I'm just sending you something that my son sent me by e-mail which makes you think about life.
Anne TAKE HOLD OF EVERY MOMENT A friend of mine opened his wife's underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped package: "This, - he said - isn't any ordinary package." He unwrapped the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box. "She got this the first time we went to New York, 8 or 9 years ago. She has never put it on. Was saving it for a special occasion. Well, I guess this is it. He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothings he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had just died. He turned to me and said: "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". I still think those words changed my life. Now I read more and clean less. I sit on the porch without worrying about anything. I spend more time with my family, and less at work. I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through. I no longer keep anything. I use crystal glasses every day. I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if i feel like it. I don't save my special perfume for special occasions, I use it whenever I want to. The words "Someday..." and "One Day..." are fading away from my dictionary. If it's worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see, listen or do it now. I don't know what my friend's wife would have done if she knew she wouldn't be there the next morning, this nobody can tell. I think she might have called her relatives and closest friends. She might call old friends to make peace over past quarrels. I'd like to think she would go out for Chinese, her favourite food. It's these small things that I would regret not doing, if I knew my time had come. I would regret it, because I would no longer see the friends I would meet, letters... letters that i wanted to write "One of this days". I would regret and feel sad, because I didn't say to my brothers and sons, not times enough at least, how much I love them. Now, I try not to delay, postpone or keep anything that could bring laughter and joy into our lives. And, on each morning, I say to myself that this could be a special day. Each day, each hour, each minute, is special. |
HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY
Good morning Semo, Patty, Jen, Lauri and Barb.
HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY TO YOU ALL AN IRISH BLESSING May the Irish hills carress you May her lakes and rivers bless you May the luck of the Irish enfold you May the blessings of St. Patrick behold you Hope you girls are all having a good weekend. I didn't get doing any Tae Bo yesterday as two of my kids are home from university and it is impossible to get near the video and I would rather do it when the house is quiet. But I went for a 2 mile walk instead;) Foodwise  The kids always look for 'something nice to eat' when they are home so I usually buy some fresh cream donuts (for them ) you understand  but sometimes they don't eat them all:o :o :o :o and so you can guess the rest. Well I must go now but I will call back later on. Anne |
Happy St Patrick's Day to one and all!!! I love Irish Blessings. Mooz, the post you sent before that one was very moving. Thank you for sharing it.
Where the heck is everyone else? ;) Oh, I want to share this yummy snack with you guys. I got it on the WW support newsgroup: Honey Maid Lowfat Graham Crackers (I used the cinnamon) and Fat Free Cool Whip Spread 2 tbsp of cool whip on a grahm cracker square and top with another square. Freeze until hard. These are only 1 WW point for those of you on Weight Watchers. And they are actually quite good. I have several wrapped in plastic in the freezer right now. Mooz, is St Patricks Day actually celebrated in Ireland? I was just wondering. Also, I am hip to wanting to exercise while nobody is around. Yesterday I was going to do my aerobics but my son and his friend were out goofing around and I *knew* they would decide to come downstairs while I was bouncing all over the place LOL! I hope Patty is having fun in San Antonio. I sure miss her posts though, don't you guys? Hi to Jen and Barb and Semo!! See you all later! Happy St Patrick's Day!! Lauri |
Hello again girls.
Lauri it seems that today so far it is only you and me:( but I'm sure the others will call in before long:) What exactly is cool whip Lauri? We don't have it here nor do we have Graham crackers but we do have crackers. It sounds delicious and I would love to try it if I could find similar ingredients. Strange you should ask if St Patrick's Day is celebrated here in Ireland because I think it is a much bigger celebration in America than here. I live in a small town and you would not know any difference from any other Sunday. No doubt the pubs will do well - any excuse for a celebration :dizzy: Will not be able to get any Tae Bo done today either:( as my son is watching football on TV and my brother usually calls to visit today and there is no way I will be doing Tae Bo in front of them.:o :o :o They would have a right laugh at my expense  I have been for a two mile walk though and I hope to go for another later on. As for the eating - well I am definately doing that :nono: I need a good kick up the butt. Well gotta go now. Will hopefully get calling later if none of the kids are on the net. Anne |
Hello..I am here, but not for long as I have to go to bed..have to work tonight.
I am on a WW supp. group also and heard of those graham treats with the coolwhip. I have not made them yet though. I am so bad this weekend. I havent exercised..AND yesterday was a total pig out day. I feel just awful. Tonight I will get in my possession the instructional TaeBo...so my plan is to do it tomorrow morning when I get home. I hope everyone is doing great and having a wonderful weekend. I'll call in tomorrow! ~Bobbi:devil: |
Happy St Patty's Day! I'm having a lazy Sunday, should be up and getting things done but I'm not. Planning a trip to Nashville, TN next weekend to see the kids. We are going by to see the house that they bought. (The son that is getting married in May) Our son has hockey tickets so that will be a treat, I went to my first game last year and liked it. I've exercised both days this weekend and done better on eating so far.
Well Hubby is expecting a phone call and we only have one line so guess I had better get off here, see ya tomorrow. |
Happy St Paddy's
I think everywhere celebrates St Paddy's more than the Irish in Ireland do!
I'm in Cheltenham, UK. The Gold Cup (a week long horse racing festival) has just finished. For this week we are inundated with VERY VERY drunken Irishmen who have saved up for a whole year to be able to come here for the racing and the craic (for the sheer **** of it, and a good time). Most racegoers remain for an extra couple of days and do St Paddy's here too! We have green beer, green food, 'de diddly de' music, the whole thing! It can be quite exhausting if you need to shop, visit friends, drive to and from work, breathe!!!!! My Irish sister in law has admitted that her family in Dublin don't do much, they come here and go wild!!!!!! So Happy St Paddy's wherever you are. Please don't come visit me, I'm all Irished out! See the race crowd next year!!!!! Stef |
Hello Ladies...
I had a wonderful weekend. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. We ended up with 12 total, female cousins the ages were from 26 to 45. I ended up going off my points, but sat. night we danced the night away, so i'm hoping i burned a few calories. It a weekend that has been long awaited. We have vowed to try and do this twice a year. So now i'm going to get back on track. Semo - a road trip to Nashville, that sounds like fun. I lived there for 2 years when I was young. Has your other son returned from his trip to Florida? Keep up the exercise, your doing great. Anne - I saw in the news here were we had a St. Patrick's day parade both sat & sunday. The saturday one gets pretty wild here. The street they have it on is lined up with bars.. more of a single scene. The one on sunday is for families. Thanks for the Irish blesssing. I just love to hear people speak with Irish accents. When I went to London several years ago, we went to this Irish bar, my friend had to drag me out of there because I wanted to stay & just listen to everyone talk :dizzy: Lauri - that sounds like a good snack. Kinda of sounds like the skinny cows.. I think i'll whip up some tomorrow, cause I gave up Ice cream for lent & I can't have any skinny cows right now. I try & do my meal planning for the week too. I find I stay more OP when I do that. Jen - I hope you back is feeling better. Have you ever tried Hypnosis for your smoking? I have a friend who bought a tape & she listened to it everynight when she went to sleep & believe it or not she did quite smoking. She said sometimes when she gets the urge, she'll listen to the tape for about a week & it goes away. Bobbi - tomorrow is a new day... just get back on track you can do it... we'll I think i'm going to hit the sack... It's been a very long weekend... talk to you all tomorrow... |
Good Morning ladies. It is a lovely morning here in Ireland today and I really need to be back on track with my food and exercise as I weigh in at WW on Tuesday night :o
Patty - sounds as if you had a fantastic weekend. It does you good to let your hair down once in a while and then get right back on track once it is over. :smug: Semo - I would love to go to Nashville someday - that sounds like a brilliant trip. What date in May does your son get married? That won't be long now. Are you all prepared for the big day? :spin: Bobbi - Hope you get on well with your first attempt at Tae Bo. I have only started myself last week and am just trying to get the moves right :dizzy: I noticed yesterday that the instructional bit was on at the end of either the Tae Bo 1 or 2 tapes so maybe it is on at the end of one of the tapes you have. Lauri - I was talking to you earlier and don't forget to explain to me what this cool whip is.:?: Jen - How are you? Are you getting a good nights sleep or are your kids waking you up very early  How is your back? Stef - Aren't you the fitness expert who gives out very good advice - maybe you will stay with us and answer all our questions and tell us when we are doing right :strong or wrong :nono: For a start what do you think of Tae Bo? Have you ever done it? Will call later on tonight. Anne |
Good Morning All! The weather here in Missouri is dreary, once again rain is headed this way and the temp is about 51. (feels cooler)
I tried a couple of the FIRM tapes that I received last week, and all I can say is OMGoodness, thought I was gonna DIE. My stomach still hurts from Saturday's exercises. I made it through one 35 min tape then the next day started a 65 min and didn't EVEN make it half way. But I will one day and when I do I'll be looking good. ;) My oldest son is getting married May 25th, and frankly I'll be glad when it's over. They are having a huge wedding (8 attendants) I'm not much of a social butterfly and perfer small groups so I hate to say it but I'm really dreading it. They both are very outgoing people and have friends from all over the US that will be attending. My youngest got to Florida last night about 6:30pm and will be returning on Friday. There is about 20 in his group that are all staying at the same resort. Guess this will be his last college Rahoo before he gets out into the working world. Well I must do payroll, believe me I don't want these burly guys coming to me for their checks if I didn't get their hours in. |
I am sooo mad  !! My back STILL hurts!! I thought I would try some light aerobics today and I still couldn't even do that. I was just kind of stepping around for about 10 minutes, but couldn't even work up a sweat so I just gave up. For ONCE in my life I am motivated to do this and CAN'T! ARGH!!! It's driving me nuts :dizzy: !
There are so many posts to reply to. I guess that's what happens when I miss posting for a day. 1Day: Yep. Been there done that on the hypnosis. I've tried everything short of the Zyban. People say that sometimes it just depends on the hypnotist, but for as much as they cost, I wasn't willing to try it again. Barb: Don't feel bad. I think weekends are the worst for most of us. I almost always blow it on the weekends, but I'm getting a bit better weekend by weekend. And a HELLO to SEMO, Stef, Anne, and Lauri!! I bought yet 2 more videos at amazon.com this weekend. They are CRUNCH body sculpting videos that should be here Wednesday. Everybody cross your fingers that my back is better by the time they get here cuz I can't wait to try them! Anyhoo, I guess I'll talk at ya all later, Jen  |
Hello Semo, Jen, Lauri, Mooz, Stef & Patty:wave:
Last night and today was much better....however I havent written a thing down in the journal since Friday. Today after a nap, I did the TaeBo Live instructional....kind of boring..that was an hour. Then I did tape one of the basic workout. :strong: I am so uncoordinated and my balance isnt so great...but I guess in time! I hate those back kicks! I love the way I feel so energetic after exercising. I hope to get addicted to it! Noone told me yet how long it takes to get to that point. Have a great day everyone...have to figure out what I am going to make for dinner. ~Barbara:dizzy: |
Hi Barb, I think that your doing great if you did both tapes in one day. Keep your sense of humor and the balance will come, I am a number one Klutz and as the time goes by I get better. I am now working harder at squeezing the muscles and kicking higher each time I do the tape. So just hang in there. I can't really tell you how long it will be before you start to look forward to exercising. Sometimes I don't know if it's wanting to exercise or kowing that I would be feeling guilty because I didn't. :) Regardless I will make you feel so much better.
Mooz, don't think anyone answered your question about the CoolWhip. It's a non-dairy product that is similar to whipping cream. We buy it frozen then thaw before use and it also comes in low fat and lite varieties. I really don't know what else to compare it to, very light and airy. Very good on jello and pumpkin pie, heck it's good right out of the carton. I use the low fat Cool Whip with fat free yogurt, mixed together, very good when you want something sweet. Better get back to work before they realize that they CAN get along without me. |
Well, this ticks me off! I just posted a nice long post and then I lost it! The server said I wasn't logged in here!
arrrgh! I need to go to work, but I will write later! Lauri, mad as heck LOL |
Oh Laurie, dont you hate it when stuff like that happens? I know how you feel.
I did TaeBo this morning right when I got up...feel a little sore from yesterday, but nothing too bad. I am sure once I get the hang of some of the kicks and moves, I will like it much better! Have a good day everybody! I have lots of errands to do...I will check in later. ~Barbara:D |
Good Morning Ladies
I'm at home this morning, feeling kind of yuckie. My gallbadder has been bothering me for some time, so I think it time to go see the doctor. Barbara - I don't think i'll ever get use to exercising. I just know when i do exercise, i feel better about my self after. But the getting use to.... no... I have to make myself do it... Semo - I saw where Tennessee is getting lots of floods. Is your son's home ok? I better run... I'm trying to get a appointment with the doctor today... |
Patty, I think the flooding is in east TN, but thanks for asking. It is raining here again today, don't think they (farmers) will be able to plant corn this month if it keeps up. Planting time is very vital and hectic when the weather is good and a rainy spring just adds additional stress to these poor guys. Can you tell I'm a farm gal.
I didn't exercise this morning but Hubby has an eye doctor appt this evening so I can get it in before he gets home. I must say my house sure suffers when I'm exercising. I used to do a lot of house work in the early mornings before work and now that I exercise the dust is getting thick. I've heard that it's good furniture protection tho. The phone is ringing off the hook so I better get to work. Chat later. |
Mornin' to everyone!!
Barb: Way to go on the TaeBo!!! I am keeping a close eye on those floods since my DH is in Kentucky and they've had flood watches and warnings. Anyhoo, my @#$%&* back still hurts. It seems to only get just the teensiest bit better each day. Wish it would hurry up!! Just wanted to pop in real quick and say HI to everyone. Talk at ya later, Jen  |
Hi. Everyone must be having a busy Tuesday, no additional post since this AM.
Lauri, that is aggravating when you lose a post. Sometimes I type things out on my Word program then copy and post it later, especially if I'm just adding a little here and there throughout the day. This site really doesn't seem to be as bad as the other one that I post to. Patty did you get a doctors appointment. We're all wishing you well. Barb, a little sore is a good thing (stolen from Martha Steward) lets you know that you're doing some good. Jen, try not to push the back and hopefully you'll get over it in another day. Still raining, makes a dreary day, gotta run. |
Hello girls. Well I went to WW tonight and I had put on half a pound. I actually thought that I would have put on more as I have not been journaling or drinking enough water since Friday. What is it about the weekend that I seem to get totally out of control?
Anyway I will try a bit harder this week. Here is another little inspirational verse - hope none of you object to me putting these in now and again - if so let me know and I will stop. If I had My Life to Live Over by Erma Bombeck I would have talked less and listened more. I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded. I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace. I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth. I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed. I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage. I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains. I would have cried and laughed less while watching television - and more while watching life. I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband. I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day. I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil or was guaranteed to last a lifetime. Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle. When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner." There would have been more "I love you's".. more "I'm sorry's"... but mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it... live it...and never give it back. Remember to seize every minute... look at it and really see it... live it... but most of all...never give it back! |
Hi Patty,
Dont fool around...go see the Dr. I had to have my gallbladder out when I was just 19. If its something serious...you wouldnt want it to burst. I hope you are ok. Ok then...another question about the exercise....do you stop being sore? I mean unless you step it up? Has anyone ever heard of a muffin where you take one pkg of chocolate or spice cake mix and mix it with one can of pumpkin? Each muffin is less than two pts...any one hear of this? ~Bobbi |
Good morning Semo, Lauri, Patty, Jen. Barb and Stef
It is a bit wet here in Ireland today and I am feeling fat  Am I a silly :cow: or do I just feel fat like that one :?: So here's what I would like to try and do for just this one week to see if it makes any difference. 1. Write everything that I eat down in my journal. 2. Keep on track with my points. 3. Get some form of exercise every day. 4. Drink 2 litres of water every day. Would anyone like to join me for one week? :^: Will call later. Anne;) |
Why hello!
Mooz, I for one, most certainly do NOT object to your posting this stuff. (and knowing these ladies, neither will anybody else) I loved Erma Bombeck. We have a signed picture of her hanging in our office that one of the docs had gotten from an auction or something. Patty, keep us posted on your doc visit ok? I missed you over the weekend though. Mooz kept me company LOL! Barb, you do stop being sore after a while, depending on your fitness level when you started. ARe you maybe overdoing alittle? Jen, hope your back gets better. Did you call the doc? Semo, I *wish* it was 51 here LOL!! Yesterday it was in the 30's. But after spending 10 years in Minot North Dakota, I am happy as long as it's above zero!!!:D Oh, and thanks for explaining cool whip. For the life of me I didn't know how to describe it. On Sunday I ordered a Walk Away the Pounds video. Have any of you done these? It sound fun (cough, cough) I should have it tomorrow or Friday. Do any of you have long term goals for things you'd like to do when you lose weight? I am thinking of training for the 5k RAce for the Cure this Summer. My office usually participates, but I walk the 1 mile. I'll let you know if I come to my senses and decide not to do this LOL. It's in August though, do i'd better get cracking!! have a great day! If I missed you this morning on my replies I apologize!! lauri |
Good Morning All and Happy Wednesday.
I received my Yoga Zone tapes and tried the instructional one last night. Anyone that thinks yoga is for wimps couldn't be more wrong in my humble opinion. My arms and even my butt cheeks are sore this morning.:o Yes fat women can do yoga! Lauri, let us know how you like the Walk Away the Pounds, It looks as if it would be a good tape. How's the computer stuff going? Mooz, If we weren't going out of town I would go with your challenge. I'm not on WW so I can't do that part but I will try and stay on progam for the week and exercise daily with the exception of the weekend. Patty, how are you? Hope that you are feeling better. Barbie, do you work the same shift or do you rotate? I would think that any night shift would be difficult. Jen, hope that you are feeling better too. Back later. |
Good Afternoon Ladies
I went to the doctor yesterday, & he gave me a referral to see a GI specialist. I have had this problem for about 3 years now, but I try & control it by what I eat. I also take lots of Zantac(antacid), but now it's getting to the point when I eat oatmeal my side hurts & I get nausated. SO my next appointment is next wednesday. I'm ready for it to be taken out. Lauri - I have the Leslie Sanson tapes. I like them, I think if your use to a vigorous exercise, it might not be enough, but I like to use them on days when I really don't feel like working out. Semo - I agree on the yoga tapes. A few years ago, I took some classes at the health center & I thought to myself there is no way I could ever do that stretch. About 5 weeks later I was doing it. It really help me with the stretching exercises for my back. Anne - I'm up for the challenge. I need to journal, when I don't that is when i get in trouble. Jen - Hope your back is doing better. The weather is wet & dreary here too... I'm ready for some sunshine... Hope everyone is having a great day. |
1Day: I know how you feel. I landed myself in the ER in December. I haven't had health insurance in over 10 years so I don't go unless I'm relatively sure I'm dying, and I sure felt like I was. I've only been to a doctor 7 times in that 10 years... to give birth to my two children, twice for miscarriages, one major car accident, one work incident (which is how I hurt my back in the first place), and one dislocated shoulder while skiing. And then in December makes 8 I guess. Anyhoo, long story short, he said I had to see a GI specialist as well. I told him I had to wait until I had unsurance. He said I couldn't wait that long. Well, after i got my $1400 bill from the ER, there was NO WAY I could go to the GI specialist. Not that it mattered. He wouldn't even see me without a $2000 deposit. So basically, I'm just waiting until I have insurance, or rupture something and have to go back to ER. Whenever i get sick, I have to solicit leftover medications from friends and family medicine cabinets. How sad is that? BUT, I did get the forms in the mail from my DH for the Tricare military health coverage, and am going to get that going next week. Sorry for the life story here!! :^:
SEMO: I've been curious to check out Yoga. I it kind of a mucle strengthening thing?? It looks like something interesting and new to do. Can you recommend a good tape for the beginner?? Hello to Bobbi, Anne, and Lauri!! As for me I FINALLY was able to exercise today. I got 2 new Crunch body sculpting videos yesterday and did one today. It was awsome!! I did most of it, but skipped a couple of parts that I thought would be bad for my back. It felt good to finally get moving again!! Well, I've got to get back in the kitchen. Baking a cake for my daughters birthday.....again!! The first one I made this morning utterly fell apart. I guess I didn't grease the pan well enough. If this one doesn't turn out, we're getting a cake at the store!! Anyhoo, talk at ya later, Jen  |
