December Walkers -- Walking Away The Pounds!

Hello all! Where has the time gone? It's December 2nd and before we know it Christmas will be knocking at our door! :gift2:

Whether you are walking inside or outside, on the treadmill, sidewalk, or WATPs.. just whatever! Log it here and keep up with your awesome work:D!

Michele L 12-03-2005 09:34 AM

I can't believe it's December already! My oldest turned 12 on the first (how is that possible?)! Now it's the countdown to Christmas.....how will I ever get everything done?!

This morning we woke to discover our furnace blower motor had died. The house is a rousing 58 degrees  ! Fortunately, we live in a small town. When DH called at 8am, the guy said he'd be here in 20 minutes and HE WAS!!! Hopefully, it will be an easy fix.

Anyway.....My December walking goal is 15 miles. I haven't reached a walking goal since August, but I think my mind-set is better. I'm just not going to stress about it with everything else going on! I'm hoping for a mile a day, but the last 3 days have shown me that I may have to do 2 miles one day to make up for another.

Good luck to everyone on their walking goals!

Michele

gotta go find my ticker.
im in.
goal: 10k a day=5 miles x 30 days=150 miles-20 miles (4 sundays) =130 miles for the month of December. NOPE that's toooo much for me.

lets try this:
5k a day = 75 miles a month- 20 miles (4 sundays) = 55 miles for the month of December. that still sounds high but do-able.

okay-goal for me: 5k steps a day = 55 miles for the month.

oh yeah, im down two days already (10k) so new goal 45 miles/December.
let's see what happens.

ambabs 12-03-2005 03:42 PM

Well I didn't meet last month's goal of 50 so this month I dropped it to 30 although I really want to do more than that. But I've already done 6.2 for the month so I think I'm doing well.

bnbsmommy1 12-03-2005 04:00 PM

Is it okay if I jump in?

I'd like my goal to be 50 miles for December :)

melekalikimaka 12-03-2005 04:21 PM

I'm in!

My goal will be 50 miles for December.

I know how it goes for the heater! We didn't have a working one for two years (until last winter) and it was always soooo cold I don't know how I didn't freeze sometimes *shrugs*

I still have much Christmas shopping to do and I feel like I don't have enough time!

I haven't walked much this week but I am slowly losing by how I am eating better... ugh it's just too cold to walk outside and there is so much junk behind our treadmill that I can't move!

Dinahgirl 12-05-2005 12:59 PM

I beat my November goal by 10 miles, but I haven't even started on December. Haven't walked for a week due to obligations every night after work and then a weekend trip to a rainy place. But I'm setting my goal at 40.

ambabs 12-05-2005 02:11 PM

Well I'm up to 9.2 already this month but I still have 2 more miles to complete in order to meet my daily goal so by the end of the day I'll be at 11.2.

bnbsmommy1 12-05-2005 02:44 PM

12 miles for me so far. It's getting SO COLD outside!! I'm saving up for a gazelle so not sure how that equals out walking wise. Guess when it starts snowing it's back on the treadmill for me :(

melekalikimaka 12-06-2005 10:48 AM

Hi ladies. I walked 3 miles on Sunday, then 5.25 yesterday--that's 14.75 to date, 35.25 to go :carrot:

Welcome okie74  I gave my treadmill away this year :(, it was only being used to hang clothes on :o

I wish I could send you ladies some sunshine :sunny: It's still hitting the 80's and when it's humid, it's downright hot walking outside. Still, I'm not complaining... :)

I have a weigh-in at WW this morning. I hope all this walking will have paid off! Have a great day.

icmethinner 12-06-2005 07:09 PM

My goal for December is 85 miles.

I walk about 4 miles a day 4 x a week and 5 miles one day on the weekend, so that's 21 miles a week - so unless I miss a day I should be able to do that!

okie74 12-06-2005 08:30 PM

welllll I was coming in here all stoked about jogging 3miles today , but seeing some of you all #'s mine feel blah now.....*big fake boohoo*.......I feel like I'm already way behind on my miles..I told dh what I commited to and that I did it before I counted up my logged #'s from Nov.....but "as bob is my witless" I'm gonna stick to it !

icmethinner 12-07-2005 11:07 AM

Okie - girl - I wouldn't be able to jog a block. I just walk - so don't feel bad about your three miles - that's awesome!!

shoequeen69 12-07-2005 11:16 AM

Hi everyone! I'm so glad someone started this thread. Cause I'm actually walking this month! haha I don't know how much I'll be able to do but I've got 2 miles in so far. good for me considering i only averaged about 2 miles a month the past 2 months. Gotta get over my laziness and lose weight. I only have 2-1/2 months to lose something before I see my doctor again. Sounds like you're all doing well. Keep it up. Can't believe Christmas will be here in 18 days! hehe :snow4:

Dinahgirl 12-07-2005 08:17 PM

I walked 2 1/2 miles with Leslie today. I'm up to 5.5 for the month.

Michele L 12-07-2005 09:00 PM

I walked 2.25 miles in 40 minutes on the treadmill tonight. It's a good start for the month. I only did 7.55 in all of Nov!

hup-two-three-four---keep it up :drill:

ambabs 12-08-2005 08:32 AM

I've started to slack off so I really need to pick up the pace again. So far 12.2 this month.

icmethinner 12-08-2005 11:32 AM

I am at 20 miles so far this month - 65 to go!! :dizzy:

Valerie Joy 12-08-2005 09:51 PM

I'm up to 10 miles of WATP for December. Thats in addition to going to curves 3 days a week!

Keep up the walking everyone! :)

blues4miles 12-08-2005 10:17 PM

Hey everyone, thought I'd join in though I already set my goal around the beginning of this month. Aimin for 30, as seen below I did not hit last months' goal so we'll see how this goes. Hopin to get some new WATP videos for XMas :) so maybe I will get in the last of my miles with some new videos. Hang in there ladies, you all are doing great!

melekalikimaka 12-08-2005 11:18 PM

:dancer: 3 miles this evening, 22.25 for the month....27.75 to go!

Good job everyone, we'll make it there yet.

ambabs 12-09-2005 09:17 AM

I'm up to 14.2 miles, 700 crunches, and 215 minutes snow shoveling for the month (just for my own info). I haven't done any of it today so those numbers are going to go up later today.

My goal for today is 3 miles, 150 crunches, and to redo the driveway (about 30min).

Dinahgirl 12-09-2005 07:57 PM

3 mile power walk with Leslie today.

FrouFrou 12-10-2005 12:59 PM

Hello ladies~

I'm back again! I was doing so well with my walking and then it got cold! Brrrrr.....now I am lucky to get a mile in. I need to get the motivation back so here I am, I have got to get back on track! It's just too darn cold out. But Monday morning I AM headed to the mall early. Not even going anywhere near there on the weekend-too many people Christmas shopping to walk. I do have a treadmill at home but it bores me to death and it is too easy to get off. But I DO plan on getting in 5 miles this weekend and will set a December goal for 45 starting today, Dec. 10th. Would rather go low than too high and then not make it.

Everyone is doing a great job with their walking, keep up the good work ladies!

Dinahgirl 12-11-2005 06:49 PM

A little over 3 miles on the bike trail today. I'm up to 11.25 for the month.

melekalikimaka 12-12-2005 12:48 AM

Whew! 3.5 miles this morning and 2.5 hours at the swap meet (but I won't count those)... my feet hurt!

25.75 for the month and 24.25 to go :dancer:

Dinahgirl 12-12-2005 06:15 PM

I did a 45 minute dvd with George Foreman...Walk and Box...I'm calling it 3 miles. So I'm at 14.75.

melekalikimaka 12-13-2005 01:23 AM

2 miles in the rain with a bum knee :( I need to find a Sports Medicine doc nearby...

27.75 for the month, 22.25 to go.

Go Dinah!

Keep it going ladies, we're almost at the halfway mark of the month. We can do this!

crk05 12-13-2005 10:35 AM

Hi everyone!

I'm new to this group, but I did set a walking goal of 75 miles at the beginning of the month. So far, I'm at exactly 30 miles. Hopefully by the 15th I'll be halfway there! Mostly, I walk with Leslie, but it's been nice weather lately, so I've been walking a bit outsude as well. Yesterday I did a 4-mile walk with Leslie.

Best of luck to everyone on reaching their goals!

okie74 12-13-2005 02:41 PM

I wanted to come in here and say that I am walking (power walking) I just have this habit of putting it in my blog , I haven't added them as of yet , I don't want to feel pressured (stupid huh) ...and if I don't make it this month (crossing fingers that I will) that just gives me something to strive for right....

Michele L 12-14-2005 09:19 AM

I've already surpassed last month's totals AND I'm just over half-way to my December goal! PLUS......TODAY IS A SNOW DAY (I'm a teacher) :cb: :cp: !! I plan on at LEAST an hour of walking today. I just haven't decided whether it will be treadmill, Leslie or a combination. Plus I'll be able to do my stairs. I don't have a stepper, so I walk the flights of stairs. It's great for the legs and if you do it quickly it can be great for your heart!

Thanks for sharing your endeavors--it is really helping me stay motivated!

Michele

Cindy_Gail 12-14-2005 10:38 AM

Hi,

Haven't been here in awhile. I am in the same boat as Cristi. I walked every day from April through the first half of November but now that it's cold out....I have tried the stepper but it is boring. I need motivation and/or a kick in the butt! How can I overcome my dislike of the cold?

melekalikimaka 12-14-2005 05:01 PM

Hi ladies, 3.25 miles for me this morning. 31 for the month, 19 more to go. Wow! I didn't know I would rack up the mileage so fast....methinks a higher goal is in order for next month

Cindy_Gail, I don't know about overcoming the dislike to cold but maybe if you're forced to use the stepper, maybe a new CD of music you like or watching your favorite TV show at the same time will make the time pass quicker? I know I used to get bored with my treadmill real fast if I didn't have some good, upbeat music to make me keep a fast pace. Luckily, I can walk outside for most of the year here. :sunny:

Michele, good job on your progress! :cp: Enjoy your snow day.

Welcome Christina

Keep going everyone :dancer:
