Hello, Hello, Hello!!!!
I didn't abandon the exercise or the group ladies...We went on a wonderful little vacation to Lake Tahoe last week. I got caught up in the preparations and such and just didn't take the time to write. I didn't work out much up there, but we walked around the little town the down to the lake and of course all around the resort. I ate op mostly......
I managed to not gain a pound girls!!! And back on regular exercise this week. 25min treadmill yesterday, 15 min on the weights. Today was 20 min. I am working myself back up to the 65 min in the next week or so. Had a great time, didn't want to get back to the real world....but here I am. Caprice :dance: |
Caprice, welcome back you do sound pretty relaxed! Good for you for not gaining that's the harded to do while on vacation!

Tracy here is a site I found just last week and it's awesome!! Put in your town or city along with the state you live in and follow the instructions...Otherwise don't fret about it just increase your minutes every week if you can't figure out the miles... As long as you do more than the week before that's all you really need. Once you get to the point where you don't want to spend 'X' amount of time on walking increase your intensity by doing hills, jogging for a minute inbetween brisk walking...Change things up a bit. On my bike I also have an odometer. Before finding this site I used to go out in the car to measure my distance.

When I'm using a gym machine, it's real easy to count both minutes and miles! :lol: I usually aim for time, but find myself seeing how far I can go in the amount of time I've got to exercise. When I do weights, I don't count anything except the reps/sets I do. I'll have to look at Ilene's new favorite site to see if it has my town. Always curious about distances. Outdoors, I usually measure with my car. I have several walking/running/biking routes that I know the distance of.
Edit: Ah, as I suspected. My small town is not listed. I can get Anchorage, but that's an hour away! |
Good Afternoon! I dashed out under cloudy skies and biked 5 miles ... the raindrops started just as I got home.
Tracy ... I use minutes because that's what fitday wants. I use miles to check progress. Actually I use kilometers because one country block is 2 kms and they're easy to figure that way. Caprice ... that does sound like a lovely vacation. Way to go lateralus98 .... btw ... what does lateralus98 mean? Ilene ... is this the first day of your swimming class. You'll have to tell us all about it later. Hi Pat and everybody! |
Intro - Want to be "accountable"
Hi Everyone!
I'm JP and just recently returned to 3FC boards after too-long a hiatus. I've been posting and checking in on the September Walkers boards and find it very motivating to read how other gals "just do it." When it comes to fitness, I admit being a bit of a procrastinator. :s: This October, I'll turn 49 and I don't want to carry around this weight any longer. It was a shock to realize (a few weeks ago) that I had become "obese!" Any number of things that life bring our way could have caused it. It's like I've been asleep. Well no more! I've returned to walking, trying to cover at least 2 miles daily. This is a good way for me to ease back into a routine. Now, I'd like to resurrect my unused gym membership. I've noted in the posts on these boards that gym workouts are part of the core regimen. Best of all, like the September Walkers boards, I felt motivated after reading through this forum. Though it's mid-month, may I join you all? I believe by checking in and reading what you all have to share, my efforts have a better chance for success. Time to get back to work. Geez, after just typing this I can hardly wait till 5 p.m. and hit the track :tread: JP |
Welcome JP!!! You certainly hop on board any time... Glad we could be of help to motivate you... I'll be 49 in January! Time flies doesn't it?? But I do feel young and young at heart...TTFN :wave:

WOAH!!! Lots of messages since I left earlier lol. Lets see if I can answer/comment in order without leaving anything/anyone out lol. ;)
~~~ Ilene..... That site was pretty cool! I didn't think it would have my tiny (if you blink you will miss my town!) little town!!! I was shocked! Now I just got to play with it lol. ~~~ I thought about the car thing... but haven't done it. Actually everytime I go out int he car I forget to check it out lol. ~~~ Susan..... very true.. country miles are a bit different then a busy town/city! Fitday counts miles too!!! It is pretty cool. I put both the time it took and the miles it was in there after each time I exercise... when I can. :) ~~~ I was going to count minutes simply because I want to do other exercises like Denise Austin, my lawn mowing, walking the town etc exercises. But I am beginning to think it might be more work then it is worth. Maybe I should just stick with the "+" sign after my mile count. Who knows... we shall see lol. ~~~ JP... Welcome to 3FC! |
Ya know what? I'm all alone ... I should haul up a spot in front of the TV and do abs. I think I will.
|
I only biked five miles today. Now how do you think the wind was head-on going both west and north?
I'm going to do calves, hams and glutes in front of Oprah later. |
2 Miles WATP
and 25 minutes Denise Austin I am dead lol. |
Thursday -- LEGS for an hour...
Last night I had my swimming class... LOVED it, but I suck at swimming, I also figured out that I don't like having my face in the water! One of many things to work on! Later :wave: |
