I did a similar mud run (Dirty Girl Mud Run) a couple of weekends ago- it was a blast!! It was not competitive at all and we don't even know what our time was. Very low pressure, but still a lot of fun and a great workout.
I didn't do anything special outside of my usual gym routine. I had never done a race before and am not physically competitive, so I was a little nervous. I had nothing to worry about. All physical abilities were represented and it was more about having fun than actually racing. If you have a good workout routine going right now, you should be fine.
