  • Today I did a total of 10 - two sets of 5, 1 min rest in between. Working up to that solid 10 in a row!
  • WOO HOO, everyone!!

Well, I had an awesome workout this morning at the hotel, despite going on about 4 hours of sleep. After my run on the treadmill, I went to do my Holy Cow Planks. I just couldn't bring myself to do the dolphin pose in public!!

So, instead I did a hybrid of Jillian routines that work the core & shoulders:

Plank row R with 5 lb weights, right leg lift - repeat on left (repeat 8x)
    elbow plank - hold for 8 counts of 8 (~ 1 minute)
4 sets of 8 ab crunches with 5 lb press
    "squarms" (4 sets of 8)
    Repeat the entire set

Wow. I definitely was feelin' it!

I promise to get back on the Holy Cow Plank challenge soon!! I am so very impressed with the progress everyone has made!
  • Anyone else have this problem?
    Cat on Plank.
Every time I roll out my mat she comes running and does her scritch scritch thing on the end leaving ragged "chews". Then I get into position, start to try to hold, and she pops up on the small of my back. If I start to shake too hard or try to tip her off, I get the claws.
Hardly seems fair to add another 8 pounds to the part of me that weighs the most.
  • I don't have a cat problem, but I do get a "rat terrier on the head" problem when I'm on the ground.
  • Jay - yes. Also, I have the "Dog Assisted Pushup" problem, where she sticks her head under my head in plank and I have to lower SLOWLY so as not to crush her, all the while forcing against the upward resistance of her head. And of course, every time I do yoga, she tests my patience and concentration with face-licking distraction.
  • Awwwwww, I miss having pets!!! I've had dogs & cats, and both have loved to participate in exercise .

I did force myself into the Holy Cow Plank in the public hotel gym this morning. I got through 6 with modifications, but before the applause, here's how it went:

    3 reps - full on
    10 second break
    3 reps w/modified push-up AND 10 seconds in between

It is a start at improvement. I was up to 4 with the last one being modified, so I guess I'll call this forward progress???
  • Woohoo!! I did 6! I'm still sweaty and out of breath but I'm so excited I had to get right on here to share Thanks to DH for timing me... Don't think I could focus on time and getting through it. Now if I could only get up to 10 like some very impressive people here . And yes cherylmn that's progress. Keep at it!

    WOO HOO!! Nicely done!!!
  • FIVE!!!

Push-up form could use a little help - I'm only getting about 1/2-way down - but still, 5 in a row, no break. Looks like my turkey day challenge IS a possiblity .
  • YAY! Good for you!
  • Six without the push-ups, but longer holds. Seems like I'm trying everything to get there...

Will keep that up & move to 5 full + 1 modified next week. Turkey Day is around the corner. Not much time left to get there!!
  • woohoo! I'm glad I found this. I could definitely use some core/upper body work. I got through 2 without a break, but my deltoids were killing me. I think I found the weakest part of my body!
  • I am going to master this! I will be putting the dog outside. My Corgi loves to lick my face and ears when I'm on the floor.
  • Yesterday, I did a full 10 with 10 second holds (I don't think my wrists will hold any more than that). I did them right before a round of shoulder injections that is going to put me out of commission until Thanksgiving.
  • Doing 7 in a row last week, Monday and Wednesday...gonna start with 8 Friday!
