Default Maintainers' Athletic Brag Board

I have noticed recently some pretty amazing athletic accomplishments by some maintainers and I thought it would be nice to have a place where we can brag about our accomplishments. Run a race? Finish a tri? Rock a walk-a-thon? Bench press your weight? Give Dara Torres a run for her money? Here's the place to brag about it!

I'm going to start. I increased my dumbbell weight for my bent over dumbbell rows from 40 lb weights to 45 lb weights. So that's something! Well, I was excited anyway!

Who's next?

Cool beans, Midwife!

This thread is a great idea -- thanks for coming up with it!

That's impressive! I'm nowhere close to that!

I did my first set of Yasso 800s yesterday. It's 10x800m intervals where your 800m interval equals the speed you'd like to be at for a marathon (or in my case, half marathon). Supposedly it's a decently accurate predictor of your finishing time. Either way, it can be a tough workout so I'm thrilled that I survived!

LOL - definitely not in Dara Torres' league - but I'm still over-the-moon happy about my performance in Atlanta on the 25 yard pool course this past weekend:

200 Freestyle Relay (each of 4 people swims down and back), swam 2nd and came in at 30.35 seconds. Prior best: 32.82. We took 9th place IN THE NATION!!!!
50 Backstroke - with a very flubbed start, 37.06. Prior best, 36.73.
200 Medley Relay (each of 4 people swims down and back, in the order of Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle) - I swam the backstroke again, this time at 35.79 seconds. We finished 10th!
100 Individual Medley - one length each of fly, back, breast, free - swam a 1:17.66, prior best of 1:18.20.
100 Backstroke - 4 lengths of backstroke, swam 1:19.35, and prior best of 1:20.09.

Did they actually have a shark in the pool, ICU? I find speed is all about proper motivation. For real, congrats!! You should be so proud!!

Is your relay team made up of friends? People you met at the pool?

Midwife, the relay teams are assembled from the Michigan Master's participants. 42 of us travelled down for the meet. I didn't know anyone very well, because I don't work out with a team. Relays are classified based on the youngest person's age, so these relays fell into "35+" because we had one "baby" who was only 39. This pool was built for the Olympics, so it's cold, deep, and very, very fast. No sharks though - I don't think they'd care for the chlorine!

Well, this isn't a huge accomplishment compared to Meg, Mel & Sacha, but I'm proud of it...

I did a 110# back squat last week, 3 sets of 5. PR for me. Woo hoo!

And great acomplishments Midwife, FP & Becky! Look at us go!

I do love being strong.

I actually have another one from just this morning. I've been working for about a month on "Bird of Paradise", pictured below. Not me in the pics.

The first time I tried it I fell flat on my face. Today I made it to step 3 on both sides, which is called "Bird Taking Flight" in the directions:

I don't know that I'll ever get my foot out straight, but I'm going to keep at it.

These are all brilliant. Great idea for a thread, midwife.

I hesitate to offer mine but I'm pleased with myself so here you are.

Last night I wrestled a single mattress to the floor in a room hardly bigger than a bath tub and full of bits and pieces. I had it under control the whole time and didn't break anything. Slept on it all night long and propped it up against the wall this morning. Brushed the dust off my hands and walked away.

There have been a number of bouts of silverbirch vs singlemattress over the years (at my friends' in London) but this time I won!
