Thanks ladies, I'm just looking for something to add variety to my routine, swimming sounds good and I think its time I went back to my spinning class.

Midwife: I really haven't done sprint intervals before I would be interested to know the improvement you see. I've done 4 x 800 speed intervals in the past and saw a lot of improvement in my mile and 5k times.

5.3 miles of hills for me today, it was so cold and I was super slow but I made it through.

My clothes are fitting better and I'm looking better but the scale actually went UP 2 lbs since Christmas for me and I've been more diligent about my carb intake. I am 6'2" and I am probably eating around 1800 calories a day.

Similar to me. I'm up 3 lbs since Xmas eve, but I had been sick for a few weeks and wasn't too sure about those last 3lbs lost at that time. The scale is stuck, I'm 5'10 and eating 1600, and I'm not running as much as you- did 3.3 miles today. I'm just going to stick with it and believe that the training/eating plan is solid and the weight will come off soon.

4 miles today. It's too bad we can't count elevation, because that would be at least 5. :) But I'm so happy I managed to shoehorn a run in today; I was afraid I wasn't going to exercise at all (it's that kinda day).

Weight training definitely has helped. Losing weight has helped (having less to lug around). But one thing that's really made a difference is when I have to use a treadmill (generally I dislike it -- so boring!) is I do HIIT (High intensity interval training). There's lots about HIIT on the boards, and I think there's a sticky in the Exercise section. It's definitely helped me cope with higher speeds and overall conditioning (in a way that aerobic exercises generally hasn't).

I was having an off day too. I managed to only run 2 miles... but I walked another and eliptical'd another. so I clocked 4.. just wish 3 instead of 2 were running.. oh well I will do better nexttime :)

What's up with that????? My quads have been SORE which NEVER happens. Is this a result of the low carb thing? I've been doing 2 tbsp of peanut butter on whole grain organic bread about 30 mins before I leave and I've noticed a remarkable difference.

I'm also not losing! I'm eating about 1500-1600 calories a day and with any less I feel so hungry. It's kind of starting to discourage me:(. I'm eating good whole healthy foods. I'm afraid if I lower my calories I'll go into that craving everything, binge waiting to happen mode. I'm not sure what to do! Does anyone have any good advice about how to divide calories throughout the day? I usually do my runs at night.

4 miles while it was kind of raining outside. It was pretty good until I ran into a puddle. Booooo! :(

Skinny Teen 01-07-2009 06:49 AM

I got about a mile and a half in already! Whoo!

dollypie 01-07-2009 09:35 AM

Okay I missed my morning workout, set my alarm for pm instead of am. I am going to the gym tonight hopefully 3 miles.

9/500

I've got to go find myself a running ticker, so much more motivating than 9/500 :)

Great job, everyone! Sometimes it can be a struggle, or harder than other days, and then there are puddles :( , but persisting through is what separates those who reach their goals from those who don't. Be even more proud of yourselves on the days that it is hard---and remember, it's okay to take a rest day now and then.

Thanks midwife, just the nudge I need to get on the treadmill once again today.

Hi there mile mommas and pappas! I am poolside on the last day of vacation. After my final beachside/boardwalk run today my miles since 1/1 are at 29 :)

See you all upon my return to reality. And that includes the scale-aghh! ;)

cakses 01-07-2009 02:16 PM

2.5 inside today. I need a treadmill soon. Already stalking craigslist and Amazon until I find something decent. Will never be able to replace my baby and shell out $1800 but I'l find something then the mileage will come when I can do more at home.

7.5/600
