Kim - I'm obviously not an expert...and can't even really call myself a runner yet...but be careful!! I understand your excitment for this race, and how important it is...just don't be so hard on yourself that you don't take care of your injury!!! Your body will tell you when it's time to get back to it!!! Make sure you listen to it Feel better and good luck!!!!!!!
Today I went for 2.75 miles in 33 minutes...and I did it!! I'm totally on track to be running 3.1 by the end of the month!! I never thought I'd get there...now I need to get myself to take it outside and see what my results are there. For some reason, I'm scared to death to get off the treadmill...
I went to my chiropractor this morning to see if he could help me out. I didn't know if he could do anything for my knee, but I figured he'd at least be able to keep me from getting worse as I hobbled around. It turns out he was able to do lots for me! He found that the problem was tightness in the front of my right hip which then resulted in the hamstring pain. He did some adjustments and a whole bunch of stretching things out, and although I'm still a bit ouchy it's way better than it was. I love my chiro!!
So my plan is to stay off running until Thursday or Friday. I'll go to the gym tonight and either walk a bit or do the elliptical just to move a bit, but I'm going to really take it easy.
You guys are doing great!
I am restarting week 1, since I didn't get a workout in on Saturday. I will just do MWF this week as week 1.
It's pretty doable. I am scared of week 3 already though

Morning all! I ran 3.1 miles this morning in the rain and got my shoes all soggy. Yuck. I hate that. Other than that I felt good this morning.
Sweettart -- great job, you are definitely going to have NO problems doing a 5k by the end of the month! And don't be afraid to take your running outside, it's lots of fun (minus when it pours on you!)! Lots to look at as you run. This morning a shirtless guy built like a mutant teenage ninja turtle ran by me -- he was short and very wide with muscles, but he was FAST.
Kim -- I'm glad your chiro was able to help, that's GREAT! I bet what he did plus the couple of rest days you're planning will do wonders for you!
fiberlover -- Good luck on week one!! I assume you're following the C25k plan?
Hello! I haven't spent much time round here recently, I'll get on to why in a bit, but first of all - well done ennay! And welcome to all the new starters.
I've got my marathon on Sunday. I seem to have shaken off my leg issues, and am starting to feel a bit more confident about how I'll cope with it physically. I've done all the training for 3:45, and everything says I should be capable of it.
BUT... things over the past couple of weeks have been a bit traumatic. My grandfather was taken into hospital last Monday, and after a few days of spending pretty much every waking hour either in work or at the hospital, he unfortunately died on Thursday. The funeral will be this Thursday, then I travel down to London on Friday for the marathon. I'm running it for a charity he was closely involved in, so there has been no question from any of my family that I should defer, but over the weekend I was wondering whether I had enough energy because I felt utterly drained.
I've had a few early nights, and a good run last night (4 miles, but far more enjoyable than any run I've done recently), and I'm starting to feel better physically, but I'm still not sure about the emotional side of it. I might find the atmosphere a bit overwhelming, and I'm not sure whether I am fully prepared for that side of things.
I've still got a few days to prepare, tomorrow is my last day in work so I should have the chance to get some rest before Sunday, fingers crossed I'll come up with a performance to make them all proud.

Ennay, great job on your half!
I had a good run on Sunday, not sure if I posted that already...no idea of distance, but tried a bit of intervals of faster jogging for the first 20 mins, then my usual slower pace for the rest of an hour. Today will just be jogging, though I'm waiting on the weather to see if I can take it outside.
Josephine, wearing the Garmin like a watch is a great idea! Do you have a special band for it?
Kim, my husband's in the Air Force. He just got back from a year in Korea and then had to leave for a school in Florida after being home for only six days. Luckily, we were able to spend some time in Korea with him, but it's still a pain in the rear being apart. One month, two weeks, and three days until he gets back (I think that's right)! Glad the chiropractor helped you out!
Emily, I missed the new Office. Was it good?
Sweet, once you get off that DREADmill, you'll never go back! (Thanks, Ennay, for that!)
Hi Lori! Once you get in a routine, it'll be second nature.
Helen, I'm so very sorry to hear about your grandfather. I'm sure he will be so proud of you supporting the charity! It might end up being a cathartic experience - you continuing his work.
Cheryl, did you get outside?
I've been doing well keeping up with my training schedule. I actually doubled up Saturday's four miles and Sunday's nine miles on Saturday because it was supposed to (and did) rain all day Sunday, and I did fine. I actually beat my time from last week's nine miles by FOUR minutes! I was very excited!
Less than 700 miles to go!

YP - so sorry for you & your family's loss. I'm sure he will be with you in your thoughts during your run - Good luck - i know you will make him proud.
t&k - no new Office last week but it starts back up again this Thursday (4/10)
Only 3 mi. tonight - wasn't feeling it so much...I should have taken my little guy out for a walk/jog today since the weather was decent - it is supposed to rain tomorrow & Thurs. out here.
Thought I would show you all a pic of Caden - he is almost 3 months old and looked like he totally wanted to kick that bear's behind earlier today! (or he was just studying it intently!)
Helen, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather. How wonderful that your race is emotionally connected to him, I hope you go out there and run just for the joy of it in his honor.
Emily, Caden is a real CUTIE!
I ran a quick 2 miles this morning, I felt a little "hungover" from the migraine I had last night.
Josephine - Sorry about your "hangover"....you rock though for running a "quick" 2 miles!!! I was contemplating cutting my already short run shorter for this morning...but you sealed the deal for me....gotta keep going....
Helen - I'm very sorry about your grandfather...that is so hard...but what a wonderful opportunity you have to run in his name. He will for sure be feeling so proud of you!!!!!
Kara - Funny that you should call it a DREADmill...I am loving to run, but the treadmill? Not so much! I just don't have the courage yet. Maybe that's silly. Hopefully soon I'll get myself outside. For now, this works though....I can run while me boys are still in bed and be off to a great start for my day BTW - My good friend is a military wife...you guys amaze me beyond belief!!! If that isn't strength, I don't know what is?!?!?! And thanks to your hubby for serving our country....I can't express that enough.....
Off to run my 2.75....hey, how many days should I keep this distance before increasing to 3-3.1? Is there a standard rule? I've increased fairly quickly so far...I just don't want to push it too much....
Emily, your Caden is adorable! I have a Kadyn, too, but mine's a girl!
Sweet, thanks for your support! I'm so proud of my man. Regarding increasing your mileage, I've always heard to not increase more than 10% of your time or miles in a week.
Seven miles for me this morning in just seconds over a nine minute mile. The runs are getting routine now and I actually look forward to getting up and going in the morning. Wahoo!
